I was in Pampanga back in December 2011 to visit family. Woke up sitting in a wheelchair at the ER with blood pouring onto my lap from a broken nose and a tremendous headache. Fun times. Haven't been back there since. And yeah, it is extremely hot and humid. Food over there was decent but I prefer my parents version of traditional Filipino dishes when they cooked it here in the US versus how it was cooked inside the country of its own origin, which is strange, I know. I accidentally drank some tap water while climbing Mt. Arayat and had terrible diarrhea for a week. Helped slaughter a big ass pig for our patron saint's fiesta and that was fun. Did a lot of karaoke. Drank a lot of Emperador. Ate a lot of sisig.
Oh, and I'm only 5"9 but the only people I ran in to taller than myself were some Christian missionaries from Salt Lake city heading to Bagiuo, some Australian surfers from Perth, and a handful of Samoan/Maori dudes who were a part of a different Christian mission.
