Sonic Adventure 2 - Escape from The City ...for City Escape - Super Mario Paint

- Happy New Year, everyone!
First things first, this was the song I did for the 2020 Mario Paint Secret Santa event, in which I drew my good friend VolcanBrimstone. Now, there's a story behind this one: this came about as a result of a long-running inside joke. The first two times I participated in Mario Paint Secret Santa events, I drew Volcan both times and did Sonic songs both times. He joked to me "So, whatcha gonna do for me next year?", and I jokingly replied "If I do get you again, then I don't care, I'm going all in and doing City Escape". Lo and behold, I drew him again for 2020's event, and the joke has finally come full circle!
WHEW, this song was a doozy-, lemme tell ya. I spent the better part of a month on this one. I started this shortly after the Donkey Kong community event ended, then started taking it a bit slowly and making sure I got little details sorted out here and there, then, after building the foundation for the song, and slowly tackling the first verse, totally blitzed the second verse and made it to the ending in no time. I was very careful to make sure I captured every detail I could pick out; I absolutely -had to do this song justice.
This is one of those quintessential video game anthems; people who don't even play video games know this song. And it's one of my favorite songs in gaming :P

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! This one was a major challenge; picking out all the little details was a big task. I felt like I was finally in a position to do this song justice though; not to mention, the timing of drawing Volcan again was too perfect; the inside joke came full circle, and I managed to do this song justice in the process :P

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! This one was a hell of a challenge with all the little details to pick out, but I really felt like I was finally in a position where I could do this song justice. And the timing was perfect; mine and Volcan's inside joke has finally come full circle :P Been wanting to do this song for a long time as it is; drawing Volcan for Secret Santa was just the perfect reason to finally break it out :P
@@DeepFreeze7575 Lolol, the whole thing is so ironic :P But it's so awesome to hear that you feel you've grown enough as a Painter to do this song proper justice. If you ask me, you've always been one of the best!
I think we can all see why SEGA might call this cursed. A Sonic the Hedgehog song in a Mario game. That is cursed. But great job anyway!
