Alien vs Predator AVP: The Ancient (Elder Predator)

- The Ancient was presumably in command aboard the Mother Ship that brought Scar, Celtic and Chopper to Earth for their initiation hunt. After delivering the three young Predators to the surface in their drop pods, the Ancient and the rest of the Yautja aboard the vessel remained close by, awaiting the outcome of the hunt.
After Scar and Lex defeated the Queen that escaped from the pyramid, the Ancient and several of his kin approached Lex and the now deceased Scar, collecting the fallen Yautja's body and taking it back aboard their ship. Before leaving, the Ancient gave Lex his Combistick in recognition of her feats whilst fighting alongside Scar.
"Sir, I can't believe that you gave that human YOUR spear."
Laughs as the ship lifts off
"I've got dozens of those!"

Yep. We humans take it much too far though.
The swag of the elder predator is unmatchable. He looks and acts like a complete king, you know he could kill her in a instant and yet he doesn’t yet at the end he’s like: take this young warrior, now get out of my sight.
I was thinking the same as he turned and swung his dreads as he walked off, "like I'm da real $hit......"lol
That man is vegeta
You’d be more impressed that he with a maximum of two other predators took down three hives with a queen skull for each one of them and to exterminate the hive for each one of them. That’s a total of three dead queens and three hives exterminated all with just three predators
He probably did it for fun.
He would of had to put up a fight anginst the alian queen she wasnt not goin easy
Fun fact: that Ancient Predator right there? To get to that position, he had to kill at least 3 xenomorph queens and bring back their skulls. I got MAD respect for him.
The Swarm wish they made a Predator movie about him slaying Queens and wiping out their nests... It would be epic..
HOLY SHIT!!! THREE OF THE?!?!
That's not all, he also has to clear out a hive of 300 Xenos or more by himself which makes him a certified badass.
aside from that you really need to live for a thousand years to become an ancient pred lol
To bad the predalien killed him Right away
The way the Elder turns around to walk back toward the ship is the best part of the whole scene. He walks with a swagger. lol
SO badass.
For sure man this elder predator is it supposed to be an general or something else?
@@austinwalden3433 kind of more
That fructus hair.
Exactly.I also watched that scene repeatedly.
This elder predator is more than 1,000 years and the elder grey back from predator 2 is 300 years old now we now who would beat who
I believe the symbol that Scar gave to himself and the girl was the symbol for the first serpent (Xenomorph) hunt, he gave her the mark as she was now made an honorary member of the clan for aiding Scar in the hunt. The clan leader, if one of their own is slain by the prey or instead aids the hunter, gives a weapon as a gift or reward for prowess and/or courage in battle. This was seen in Predator 2 when the police officer killed the hunter and the other clansmen gave him an old flintlock pistol from the 1700's (it was most likely a trophy taken during a previous hunt on Earth). In this case, the elder giving his own combi spear is a very high honor, this is most likely the first time the "prey" has ever helped the hunter to battle another threat, and in this case it has greater meaning as the Xenomorphs are an ancient enemy of the Yautja Hunter Clans. That is most likely why the Elder himself and the entire clan came to see what had happened after the defeat of the queen and witnessing one of their prey aiding them instead of running away. For the clans, this was a strange, yet momentous occasion that most likely changed their views of humanity and gave them a greater respect.
(Yes, this is a long post. And yes, I am a nerd)
Rock on, fellow nerd.
That pistol was given to that ancient (then a young Predator) in the 17th century by a pirate. The Predator came to earth for a hunt and ultimately targeted that pirate as worthy prey but when he finally caught up to him, the pirate was battling seven other humans. The Predator aided the human in killing them but the pirate was mortally wounded. As he was dying he awarded the Predator with the pistol. Hundreds of years later the Predator gave it back to the humans after witnessing the events of Los Angeles.
Note: This is actual canon, not my own theory, as it was released in a short comic series after Predator 2 came out. Few know of it because this was before the age of the internet but it's still out there and free to read online now. It is a very good read and highly recommended.
@@mspionage1743 hey, uh... Predator: Prey got released today and I think the same pistol you're talking about makes an appearance, the protagonist gives it to the chief of her tribe so... What now?

@@rougestarlight4308 No clue, I refuse to watch any woke related trash on TV or the movie theater, so I have no idea what/why they plan to go whatever route they go. All I know is what was canon in either the pre-woke movies and/or the comics.
I still cannot understand why this movie didn’t get the love it deserved! Criminally underrated!

After watching this movie I truly expected Sanaa Lathan to be the next Sci Fi/Fantasy action star. She did a superb job in this movie. Her character was believable. I also expected this to be the first in a series of Alien vs Predator movies, with her in them.

I like how predators recognize human's bravery. They know that humans are fragile, mostly, but there are few of them that are hard to beat.
ruclips.net/video/wtbcaWnybzs/видео.html
They only hurt human if they hurt them then the game begins. Predators dont even hurt pregnant women for example aswell.
@Robert Wilkins exactly, like Dutch from the first movie and the cop from the second movie, which frustrates the hell out of me.
In the comics humans are almost has honorable trophies as xenomorphs. They have this view because of our willingness to fight back and our cunning in a few comic some high ranking clans hunt humans almost exclusively, going after people like generals or places like military research facilities.
@@dannykeuerleber7419
To be exact, human fighters are honorable trophies due to being recognized as rival hunters. The Predators do however have standards for hunting trophies as they don't consider ill, crippled, or pregnant humans to be valid trophies due to sportsmanship: the prize has to be able to fight back and be willing to fight back for a worthy kill between warriors.

I love how the elder warlord turned around in slow motion to show his scarlet cape, very well shot...still gives me goosebumps.
Can we just take a moment to think about the level of respect this Elder had for a human. This is a culture based around the idea of the hunt, so melee weopons like this spear would be a highly honored heirloom in their lines. Perhaps it was just the symbol that got her off Scott-free, but from how the eldar reacts to it, it's safe to assume it must be a symbol that portray that she isn't just another animal to hunt, but a warrior that should be respected for her tenacity if nothing else.
Supposedly, if I understand correctly, that mark is so other predators would recognize her as one of them. For a human to receive that mark is a high honor, and this character is based on another character who actually joined the Predators and was able to keep up with them, so they saw her as one of their own.

Facts
The spear he bought at Shopee
SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HER DOGGIE STYLE BUT THEN, SHE IS PROBABLY UGLY LOOKING TO HIM...
He gave the staff because she was blooded into his clan by the Youngblood. Both lex and Scar slew the Xenomorph queen, and she fought honorably by him. She got blooded because she inadvertently killed a xenomorph single-handedly, which Scar recognized her.
@@AzrielTheOne Indeed, this is my opinion as well. She was not just marked as a Xeno killer but Scar marked her as one of them and the ancient respected it fully.
Knowing that the hunters had been sent to hunt xenomorphs, I find it highly suspicious that no one bothered to give the fallen predator a quick scan before taking his body aboard their ship.
The movie needed plot for a next one lol. In all honesty I think due to the ceremonial nature of “the hunt” and that Scar died they may have had either celebrated their fallen comrade or mourned him in a respectful manner. Maybe the diagnosis part was skipped as a culture trait to honor thy dead or something. I dont know, just my two cents on it.
Well...After this...Maybe they will...
IF ONE OF THEM SURVIVE.

No dialogue at all , just still faces , lack of emotions and even though , you can feel everything . Marvelous .
It sounds like you're describing a situation where people or characters are portrayed with a lack of visible emotion, yet they are deeply feeling and experiencing things internally. This can create a striking contrast between outward appearances and inner experiences, adding depth and complexity to the narrative or scene. It’s a powerful way to highlight the richness of internal life despite an external calm or detachment.

Normally Yautja do everything they can to avoid losing their tech and letting it get captured, including blowing themselves and the area up to keep their secrets safe from potential enemies.
But for the elder to make an exception to this rule and give his spear to Lex, that's either a sign of the highest respect, or he regards her as one of them and doesn't regard it as a violation of their rules to share with a fellow clan member.
She is 'Blooded'
Actually that spear wasn't tech. It wasn't like their guns or their masks or their bombs. It was all steel. Which, let's be honest, if it isnt advanced technology or nuclear, really has no value to anyone in our government. Thats probably why the Ancient didn't think so much of giving it away. Regular weapons like that are no true threat to a Predator.
She basically passed the rite of passage and helped take down a queen
The comics had a human woman stranded on their planet and she fought her way to an accomplished position within the Yautja ranks. So the Yautja don't really discriminate, if you're a warrior, they'll honor you regardless of what species you are.
She was 1/3 of the way to earning the right to challenge for his title and gaining "elite" status.
I'd say she earned a spear.
2 more of these hunts and she can ask to solo a nest of 300 and become a leader
I love how at the end, Lex doesn't care how scary he is and looks at him with sorrow, respect and warm eyes
ruclips.net/video/wtbcaWnybzs/видео.html .
I think that's one of the reasons that the elder gives her the spear. Her actions had already marked her as unique among the humans, and her fearlessness marked her as a peer among the Yautja, but to see this unique human express sorrow at Scar's death was to see that respect reciprocated. Strength, loyalty, and honor befitting a member of the clan deserved no less a gift than what was given.

In the lore of all media related to Predator this particular human got the HIGHEST honor bestowed thus far. I dont think people realize this. There was the pistol given in part 2 to Danny Glover's character but think about it. That was a weapon from another human warrior given to another human warrior. Here, it was a PERSONAL weapon of an ELDER given! That's pretty honorably high on the charts of awesomeness.
Well she managed to kill an alien queen..
That was some pretty epic stuff even for the Predators themselves..
Actually I’m the comics a human woman was inducted into a predator clan and became a predator herself. She got armor and everything
@grimlock1992 That's what i was thinking too! The elder was holding Scar's helmet (and not the other two's). I genuinely thought that this symbolized that the Elder and Scar were related somehow :(
Yeah she was blooded referring to the marking on her cheek.
Detective harrigan from predator 2 just was honored for defeating the predator not blooded.
The Xenomorph is the ultimate prey so defeating one especially a queen was top notch for them
Wasn’t the pistol from a pirate who earned the respect from a pred who wanted a fight with him but ended up having to stop a mutiny with him or something of the likes.

She got respect because is marked by killing a xeno and later not only teamed with a predator in fighting and killing a Queen, but actually survive.
She essentially passed the rite of passage technically
But was left and taken with them. Whats the point of respect and the spear? Someone could steal it. Or she died of old age and her son or daughter or whoever gets it don't even know what it's worth.

Imagine an inferior human helped your advanced, supreme clan mate slay a xenomorph queen.
The Elder could've handed her the spear in a uncaring manner and walked away like it was nothing, but no. Notice how he realizes she is scared of his presence, yet moves the spear down slowly to indicate he senses fear and there's no need for it at that moment. Clearly shows he's surprised, respectful and proud. I would've done the same.
What separates the Predators from other movie monsters is their sense of honor....it doesn't make them any less dangerous though.
Agreed. Possibly MORE dangerous as a result, to be honest.
Plenty of ancient tribes where most likely like this back in the day. Territorial and had a army ready to rip you apart within seconds. Unfortunately the US government was no match for them along with booze/ new diseases. They often lived by these kinds of codes of honor. If you got respected by a tribe, a top clans man could give you a necklace that was worn by them throughout hundreds of battles since the day they became a "man". This is why most likely ancient aliens don't trust us as a whole. Lol they see how we get all sentimental for Hollywood movies but the reality is the past in human race was never about honor. Ravaged land and spoils of war is how humans roll.
It literally makes them less dangerous. If they will not kill an unarmed human? Those are the best kinds of humans to kill! But they don't do it.
@@mikepowell8611 your point is valid. What I was referring to is that to what it considers prey, it is more dangerous because it is selective in its targets. This is one of the reasons we humans are more dangerous to our prey, as well. Our laser focus means that the first clue to our presence ... is the dead target. Same with these guys.
You haven't met Bad Bloods. They're the Yautja outlaws and exiles. Talk about honor, they're not a fan of it.

It's fascinating how they're so animalistic, but they have all this technology. I just picture a bunch of Predators with glasses & lab coats inventing all of this stuff lol
This movie deserves more respect than it gets. It avoids getting silly.
The only part of this movie that I did not like was not a bad part of the movie. There were no bad parts in the movie in my opinion; it was a great movie.
It was just that those two left in the sacrificial chamber died so fast, and it was kind of a shame.
I suspect it didnt get as much respect at the time because it felt like silly B class movie compared to Alien or Aliens atleast. But honestly as far as AvP franchise goes and having Xenos and Predators/Yautja sharing the big screen...it doesnt get much better than this.
But even if you are hardcore Alien fan, you have to look this movie as its own seperate thing from Alien franchise...then you can truly enjoy it. As for Predator fans...I dont think they would have had as big of a problem loving this movie even in 2004.
I would say the weakest link of this movie are the actors/dialogue aside from Lance Hendriksen ofc...I mean they are not outright bad, but the acting performances are just meh overall
Real warriors respect and reward bravery and courage. And that extends beyond species. The ultimate salute: to gift your kinswoman from another species your most valuable weapon. The best scene in this fabulous movie. And the way Lex looks at the Elder...a bit of apprehension but lots of respect and sorrow. Just brilliant.
It’s also a way of communicating! Without even speaking, amazing !
Can we have a movie solely focused on the Predators? Like let's go to their home world. I want to see how their society and culture works. Their traditions and such.
ponchomkr dude I've been wanting a movie like that for ages
That would be cool but what would they hunt? Aliens or other type of Predators that are a danger to all of them?
Also wasn't Predator 3 on their home planet just they brought humans there?
Don't, please. After Prometheus it's clear that Hollywood has not the talent they had 15 years ago. So no, I prefer that to remain a mistery. If you want to know more about Predators there are novels, comics and all of that stuff. A bit more is said (like the female predator somewhere).
Like a predator whose fallen in hard times and can't provide for his family. He gets into drug dealing travelling from planet to planet slinging the finest dope till he gets wrapped up with the wrong people and they kidnap his daughter akke while hunting and evading aliens, yeah that would be badass

just realized the predator was actually speaking to the invisible elder right before he died because the elder was standing besides her. He probably said 'We took down the aliens and the queen together!!'
Imagine if he was gonna kill her with the spear and mid way stop when he said that and was like oh, shit umm here human as staff and that's y he turned around fast he was like dam I was about kill her 🤣
@@oscarortega443 😂😂😂
NICELY CAUGHT! And the ambiguity! :D
The fact that AVP2 just disregards the chieftains existence is criminal…
Because that wasn’t the same ship that crashed. In the extended cut you can see the mothership and then you can see the scout ship break off from the mothership and head back to earth.
I would have liked to see her character return in a future movie as an experienced combatant/predator diplomat.
Spins away like a true Boss.
Right lol
Despite it's mixed reviews and less than stellar box office reports, I LOVE this movie and have it on DVD! I even watched it TWICE in the theater to show my support..and enjoy it on the "silver screen"!
When I watched this movie for the first time in theaters and saw the Elder doing that turn, the only thing I could think of was 'What a badass boss he is'
Alexa: Pred gives her a spear.
Harrigan: Gets a pistol.
Ripley: She gives back the spear and takes the ship's key.
0:04...kinda reminds me of beauty and the beast...thought they were going to make out
She is now part of that clan. She honord the hunt.
I was in tears when scar died. Poor predator.
Scar was a GOOD predator. He didn't want to hurt anyone. He was all about HELPING others, not hurting them.
He died an honorable death defeating a queen, there is no greater end for a Yautja
@@costco_pizza ahhhh... I'm not too sure about that now. I always thought that Scar only teamed with the human bc 1, she wasn't a threat to him 2, he needed help bc his brothers died. If his 2 brothers were still alive, Scar and his *bois* would have killed her simply for being in their way
Me too 😢
@@apomtaylor8054 naw scar was good. After she gave him his plasma gun back he was about to leave. She could tell he was friendly, that’s why she felt confortable enough to approach him for help
Blades mom is still Hot 😍
She didn't have makeup so she's got a decent face
She is gorgeous.
Matthew Livingston Ooh yeah she's a cute babe ...😆👍
Matthew Livingston Her name is Sanaa Lathan, people..
@@apivlogs6230 LMAO piss off with that. She's not just "decent" she's gorgeous even without make up. 15/10 EASY beautiful woman right there.
Lol the predator was like “here 🤗 take trophy 🏆”
🤗🤗
😘😘
The way the elder turns around and walks off is SOOO awesome!! I could almost hear an imperial march in my head hahaha. AvP has lots of flaws and does lots of stupid stuff. But it does add some very very cool scenes, including this one :D
I will forever love Sanaa Lathan for her portrayel in this film.
That hair when he turns: l'oreal because you're worth it.
Walked off on her tho. Didn't even offer a ride home. Gangsta.
0:55 What an Interesting scene..wait, what if they do coffin dance? 🤣😁😂🤣
love lex's character! really enjoyed this movie, still holds up today.
Damn ..that Elder was cool and badass looking.
In a way, it's like watching a samurai warrior earning their sword. Given with great respect.
Great comparison
Chief Predator: (Gives the spear to Lex, walks away)
Lex: (Holding the spear)
Chief Predator (Walks back and takes the spear) I changed my mind.
Lex: 😐
Im dead bruh
Lex: Wait so I don’t get anything?!
Chief predator: ehhhh fine! (scrounges around in his non existent pockets) here have this uhhhhh, Predator funko pop (plops stupid toy on floor.) thanks for playng (hustle back onto the ship like theres no tomorrow)
*Bruh moment..........*
This has to be one of the best, savage, absolute badass turn I've seen in a while.
I like how the elder predator sharply turns away and struts off like he's on a Catwalk of a Milan fashion show.
She deserved her position in the hack-order. She's part of a badass interstellar hunter's clan now. That's something to be proud of.
It would have been a nice follow up story if her new Clan one day would knock on her door (or the predator way to do it, like kicking it down) and enlist her on another hunt. You know, like in a "as a clan member in this part of the galaxy, you are obligated to take part in the hunt!" type of way.
I'd love to see that made into a PROPER sequel.
😭😭😂
This movie had so many awesome moments.
Reading between the lines, if that ship was already there, then they knew this human was a warrior on par with Scar. They'd have seen fight the Queen and very cleverly, very fiercely. The mark on her cheek solidifies it. She has nothing to fear from own new clan.
Wish they'd done more with her. She was amazing!
It sounds like you’re referring to a character from a story where the ship and the warrior’s reputation play key roles. The mention of a mark on her cheek and her prowess in battle indicates she's a formidable character. It’s clear you’re disappointed that the story didn’t explore her potential further. Characters like her, with complex backgrounds and strong abilities, often leave a lasting impression when they aren’t given as much development as they deserve. Do you have any specific thoughts on how her story could have been expanded?
At 1:16, I liked how the ancient predator approached her- benevolent, and without threat.
that’s a real reward right there, an elder gifting you his personal weapon
Are we not gonna talk about how bad ass Sanaa Lathan was in this movie??? She did that, I love her character. She was a leader, brave, but still gave very much a woman. Her team up with the predator made this movie even more interesting. No to mention you don’t get too many movies where the black woman is the lead and hero of the film❤️❤️
Predators are dope af I like how they respect a human after they’ve shown worthy and gives them a gift or souvenir of sort.
Wonder if she ever figured out how to make the spear long again?
Sanaa Lathan is beautiful

Hot as fuck are the correct words
Sergio Sanchez watch Nappily Ever After (Netflix UK but sure it's on USA too). decent movie (and seeing sides to her never seen before)

Such a memorable scene
Must’ve been an honor for her, being made an honorary predator 👑
Danny Glover did it first, and it wasn't some spear, it was a simple flintlock pistol, engraved,
Raphael Adolini 1715
we should see a prequel movie about it.
We already did, Predator 2 was from like 1992
The 1992 movie was a genuine sequel; not a prequel.
Well, its a prequel in the sense that it came before this movie, and they used the same ending theme as Predator 2, in reality, a sequel, correct, but not in the time line.
Same thing though, just like gow Predators didn't even try to hide its emulation, using the lines and music direct from the original
Elder predator to his crew: Honour him, he killed the Queen in single-ish combat. Oh and let that one live, that's the ish.
dem dreads though he was like "you aing the only who's tuff human" (model turn)
The way he turns his back and walks away is just too damn cold
Lex actually looked really sad....RIP Scar..
This part always breaks my heart
When you survive hell together, you generally tend to bond over survival.
@@michelveilleux2075 very true
The turn around and dreadlocks make the scene more bad ass
Fun fact in the book she did two things one she survived the rite of passage but what saved her life was the other predator she was fighting with gave her the mark of his clan which made her a member of his clan that is why he gave the spear and didn't not kill her
More importantly, the mark was proof that she SMOKED AN ALIEN ON HER OWN...SHE EARNED IT!!! THAT'S WHY HE GAVE IT TO HER!!! THE GRAND LEADER RECOGNISED THAT ALSO.
This is one of the coolest scenes ever. In any movie.
