Contract of Indemnity [Indian Contract Act, 1872]

This video is about the contract of indemnity which is defined in section 124 of the Indian contract act, 1872.

Very informative video Sir 👌 I have a doubt and I couldn't find the exact answer anywhere and hope u can clear my doubt, my question is that some people are of the view that "Indemnification contract or the clause in a contract covers ONLY third party claims", now in this video, you've mentioned that it can ALSO cover the loss caused by Indemnifier/ Promisor himself, so can we conclude that INDEMNITY IS NOT CONFINED MERELY UPTO THIRD PARTY CLAIMS?
Kindly help in this Sir.
(My question is in the context of commercial contracts between two parties or say two companies)

Yes, your indemnification clause can cover first party claims also. It totally depends on the parties to the contract.

Contract of indemnity covers only loss caused for promisor or any 3rd party ..but In case of fire insurance loss is caused by nature or say act of God so how does it comes under contract of indemnity ..pls kindly reply at the earliest.sir

Fire may not necessarily an act of God all the time. If the fire is caused by human agency, it will fall under the contract of indemnity.

As far as Section 124 of Indian Contract Act is literally interpreted, fire caused by lightening will not come under the ambit of indemnity. But, concept of indemnity is way wider than Section 124 of the Indian Contract Act.
