My man 🙏
Between Two Fires was an amazing read. So well written.
Agree!!!
Loved it, going to try and fit it in as a re-read this year.
Found that one randomly looking through books a few months back because i liked the cover art. Did not disappoint, great read.
You got me on board at "a show that promotes cheating".
😉
I appreciate you bringing more attention to these kinds of books, keep it up brother (:
Will do 😎👍
Can’t wait for you to read Age of Madness. I’ll definitely pick up the Articles of Faith duology. Great video, Mark! I need to get a similar blazer to yours.
I'm excited for age of madness.
Articles of Faith is great, the first 50-70 pages in book 1 are a bit dense and just edited differently but then after that its all smooth sailing through both books.
Good to see second apocalypse getting the props it deserves! :)
Awesome list,
The Unholy Consult, cleaning up, well deserved. Amazingly brutal and dark book.
Glad to see A Congregation of Jackals on the list, love Zahler.....as is known :)
and Yes! Anasûrimbor Serwa is a badass.
Best 45 mins of enjoyment I’ve had in a while watching this. I think I’m traumatized by Bakker and I haven’t even read his books yet.
The Grimmy's! The most prestigious award show EVER!!! Love the channel dude. You talk about these books with such passion I just have to read them all! Making my through Fletcher now with the Obsidian Path (so good!) and can't wait to start on Bakker. Glad you're back man! 🤘🤘
Finishing up The Crippled God but you have just made me push Bakker to the top of my TBR.
Becky it is about time! your old greek pal :P
@@Red21Viper oh my god! It's been ages!
Award for Most Improved booktuber: Slowly Red
Holy shit! Hate to say it but I haven't watched a video of yours in months. Coming back was a shock. You went from a good original booktuber, to one of the best on here. You seem so much more comftorable and confident behind the camera now. Youare now one of the most talented I watch, and I watch a lot. I'm just stunned at how far you've come.
Thank you 🙏
I actually watched an old video of mine not too long ago and I was like Yikes hahaha. Everything kinda falls in place with time
Well now I have to read The Vagrant. That jacket is pretty badass.
The Vagrant is awesome 👌
The best thing I can say about the Vagrant is its the only world i read recently that I want to ripoff for my DnD Game
@@cmmosher8035 That’s high praise
I have pretty bad adhd and have trouble reading novels. I lose track of where I am and read paragraphs multiple times for them to sink in. Do you do this also? Takes me forever to read anything . I mostly just read comics now to avoid getting lost in the paragraphs
I've definitely been through a period like that in the past. I get more and more picky about what I read. It's gotta hit, otherwise I run the risk of zoning out and having to backtrack
Absolutely terrific! Better than the Oscars!
Larry!!!
Hope everything been going good for ya
I discovered Michael R Fletcher this year and read the Obsidian Path and the City of Sacrifice series.
Obsidian Paths lovers my first thought about the weird sex award and City was what came to mind to mind with the drug use award.
I discovered your channel after reading Black Stone Heart and needing to hear someone else's opinion about it.
Keep up the good work man.
Thank you 🙏
I love Fletcher's books 🖤🖤🖤
@@slowlyred2082i need to get my pile of unread books down but Manifest Delusions are books on my wishlist.
Loved this! Thank you.
You're welcome 🙏😎👍
Hell yes been looking forward to this! Just watched your TaN with Mike, pretty dope👍
Thank you 🙏
This was extremely entertaining - happy you are back!
Thank you 🙏
Love ya man!! Gadooosh
💥 Boom
Love ya 😉👍
Second Apocalypse will always be a grimmy winner award in my heart. Although you dont usually read non-fantasy I cannot recommend you enough Demons by dostoievsky. That novel has 3 of the most bleakest characters in all literature. Although is a bit dense plus is dostoievsky (and im not the smartest guy out there) with patience it can be finish. And as Bakker, dostoievsky can be dark introspective and thought provoking in many ways. Salute from spain.
Great job, Mark! I'm looking forward to getting to The Aspect Emperor Series once I finish PoN. Love the jacket haha.
Thank you 🙏
I'm eager to see your thoughts on each book 🖤
Battle of Golgotterath. The Mother of all battles. In every aspect. The stakes, the epicness, the imagery, the end of it! Nothing compares! Bakker soulcrusher!
I am at a coffee place laughing on my own with your mention bro. The Fields Appalling unite us
Yes!! The fields!!!
Such darkness 🖤🖤🖤
I really enjoyed this thank you.
🖤thank you 🙏
Great advice because I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL👍🏼
I came here from Mike's channel. And after few videos I had to subscribe. Amazing content you are creating. I cannot wait to dig into the books you recommend. First on my list is empire or the vampire.
Loved that book. The tone and everything was great. Good ol' violent fun with terrifying vampires 🧛♂️
yeaaaa you are back
Thank you for this 🙏🏽
No problem 😎👍
Great show, I caught on to your channel after reading The Second Apocalypse, and how it just kind of left me wrecked. Your mutual feelings reeled me in and I found Michael Fletcher through you.
Second apocalypse is phenomenal and definitely a soul shattering series 🖤
I love Fletcher's books. He writes wild dark fantasy that just kicks ass. Beyond Redemption is one of my all time favorites
Channel awesome man you talking with mike about having no buddies that like to read def can relate
Glad to see Norylska Groans represented well here. lol. It was so nice and bleak and violent. Warms my heart.
It definitely deserves the praise 🙌
I really hope RSB comes across these grimies or your book reviews. He has been MIA for a couple years.. and I need the rest of the second apocalypse. The neuronaut and desciple of the dog were both great book, dark and thought provoking but not fantasy and not earwa.. thanks for all them reviews, it made me remember how much and why earwa was the best world I ever spent time in, it was awesome to see you excited, it reminded... Anyways look forward to you reviewing the Malazan series, it is more epic than any other books I ever read, in a good way. Less dark, but still really good.
Really fun video! For next year, may I suggest a "Best Cover" category? Black Stone Heart would have won it for me in 2021.
Amazing cover 😍
The Blade of Tyshalle by Matthew Stover most definitely follows right behind The Unholy Consult for me when it comes to most dark, disgusting, disturbing SFF books I read. If we were counting manga I'd throw in Berserk right next to TUC.
I gotta get back to Stover. I'm slowly going through Beserk
@@slowlyred2082 Excited to hear your thoughts eventually! I love both and Berserk holds a special place for me 🖤
Bad guys are people too. Loved the video. Thanks!
Thank you 🙏
Well. I hope I’m up to par to read The Second Apocalypse Series once I finish The House Of Sacrifice…Thanks again
I would say you are well prepared 😉
Michael Fletcher is one of favs in dark fantasy
Wasn't a huge fan of the first law but still I've heard so many good things about Age of Madness, i'm super excited to get to those books
uhhh agree with empire of dust
what a choice with The Sword of Kaigen, perfection
fantastic video my guy
Thank you 🙏
12 min in and I see someone has a man crush on Fletcher.... lol : )
...ok, now 24min in and that love has shifted to Bakker. I love it....both of these guys I need to read more of.
Fletcher and Bakker are easily two of my top authors, I would probably add Lawrence as the other to form my top 3
The jacket is major, I love it
It's pretty choice 👌
Didn't suck at all! My wallet cried throughout with all the books I bought from watching this video though. On to 2022!
And Mike Shackles books
Caltro 🖤! (and Pointy of course)
Also, Age of Madness is fantastic imo, i liked that trilogy even better than First Law.
And this jacket deserves an award of it's own (best Jacket on Booktube, maybe?)
Yes!! Love those two together, pure gold!!
Who's got the good shit award😂🤣😂 yeah man .😎
With sword of kaigon, I thought everything clicked for me once I passed the 40 percent mark. Getting through the 1st 40 percent of the book was rough.
What I been waiting for since your Mike interview! Lets goooooo!
Cant decide between starting a book from Fletcher or Bakker. Whats your recommendation?
Both are great choices 👌
Bakker if you're looking to get into something massive and consuming
Fletcher if you're trying to read wild ride.
Also Malicefent Seven is nuts
Lorimer Felle was the shit!!! Loves that dude.. and his butler
@@slowlyred2082 I loved the ginger war god myself
But the vampire geezer was good, in fact all of them
That jacket is killer
Thanks!!
I literally picked it up awhile back just for this video lol
I gotta ask. How many books do I have to read before the R Scott Bakker stuff starts getting brutal and dark. I read about the world and it seems cool. But I'm like 300 pages in and there have been like 3 cool scenes in there amidst mostly just people preparing to do a war. The barbarian war was a disappointment at like 3 pages long out of that. Even Michael Fletcher said he couldn't finish it after 2 books. I want to read it. The idea is so cool. But the pacing is just bad so far. Meanwhile I could be reading Michael Fletcher where something happens on every page. Please tell me it gets better at some point.
They're all pretty dense, not fast paced reads at all, though you can get lost in them. The books really hit you on a philosophical level more than action. But there is awesome battles to be seen. The 1st book is almost pure political intrigue. The 2nd book is where you get a lot of battles. I'd suggest sticking with the series until after you've tried the 2nd. But if you're not really feeling them yet, by all means jump into some Fletcher 🤘
Your award titles are the best also please read Stephen King he's amazing
I'm going to be getting back to Dark Tower this year. Excited for Wastelands
I found my people. Greetings❤
this year comeing up cant wait hope this Ur comeback
25:00 Oh hey I wonder who that is
The Grimmy's! 👍💪
Great vid
Thank you 🙏
you gotta read age of madness man
I'd relapse for a fat hit of some Sanctus. Real quick.
Bwahahaha 😉👌
Jonas Clover is an amazing character.
Excited to get to the next trilogy
Yeahhhhh
I love a creative cussing award 🥰
ur cussing is cool to me lol it makes this channel seem like "home"
I wish you used time marks so its easy to skip between categories etc.
Yeah, honestly it usually comes down to time. I got 4 kids and a job so I don't really have the time to go all out.
Fucking hell Sword of Kaigen is fuck sake awesome read it.....
I'm putting it on my list 😎👍
