- If you know, you know.... There is no worse feeling in the world than finding a fish on the floor that has jumped out of your aquarium....
Thankfully, some smart people out there have developed these gorgeous looking jump guards to will keep the fish in your tank whilst still letting the air and light in.
I custom designed a lid with NVS Aquariums ( / nvsaquariums ) and couldn't be happier with the end product.
Reach out to them today to get a quote on a custom lid for your piece of the ocean!
Hey jus wanted to give a shout out from Omaha Nebraska in the states. The most land locked state in the country. No where near any water. Although I am lucky enough to have some awesome LFS near me. I really love everything about Australia. My three favorite things from Australia are John Butler Trio, Tia Clair Toomey and Parker’s Reef. I appreciate all the work you put into your channel. Thanks for sharing your dream reef tank build.
ah thanks mate, I appreciate it! Nice work on the shout out, I can only imagine how tough reefing would be so far from the ocean!
A must have with an open tank. That top looks very nice Sam. Very clean looking. You won’t have to worry now about anything taking a swan dive. 😁
That's the plan!
Oh my gawd. When you "got the lids in place" and pressed a button and your aquarium became a transformer... definitely dream tank
Hahaha thanks mate
Always good to catch another episode.
Thank you!
Love the workmanship with the lids :)
They are lovely!!
Great 👍 polycarbonate lid Sam, I first though 💭the mesh was a clear fine polycarbonate, it’s a quality product for sure.👍🏴
Cheers John!
Yo Sam, hope you're well man. Looks like we're a little late lol thanks for the shoutout! Honestly these NVS lids look stellar and glad the aussies have a trusted local maker now. Wishing all the best to Chris and your tank bro🤙🏼
Thanks guys, love your work!!
Great work in sourcing this out Sam I will definitely look into this myself.
Be sure to say you saw it on Parker's Reef!!!
great video! a good lid is essential to mitigate jumpers.
Agreed!!
Wow Parker's Reef has came along way. Congrats mate! Really, really well put together video, perfect!
Thank you!
I had a mated pair of what I can only guess were possibly Lineatus wrasses, but unlike any fish I’d seen. In the first week, I came home and found them both on the floor. My heart sank. I felt so horrible, not to mention they were quite expensive! I’d like to try again if I ever find another pair, but will need tons of advice.
lots of wrasse do get spooked easily and jump. If you can get a jump guard and supply them with a good environment, you should be right
Beautiful Sam! Thanks for the info! I know who I'll get to do my lids when the time comes now!
Be sure to let them know where you saw it!!
@@ParkersReef For sure!
Nice lid Sam. I did the exact same mod for my skimmer cup lid that you did for your feeding ports. Having Kessil lights I knew you’d have a few of those screws laying around. 🍻
Ah nice work! Those nylon screws are handy :p
Really nice!!!i have one also but really like the mesh they used on yours.i notice it also helps with water evaporation
Yeah this mesh looks great!
Thats a sunroof over a reef.. 😂
Amazing. Still waiting for full video on the tank corals, fishes and other ecosystem evolving.
Great work.
It’s coming next weekend :)
Dude that’s awsome and your canopy is mint I just had to get a new tank my 4ft broke so have a 6x2x2 now would like to no how u got the doors to open up like that for when I make my canopy
hey man, you can check out the cabinetry in this video:
ruclips.net/video/IE34b_KfhSw/видео.html
I have one of these from Nick too!! It’s awesome. Your video on the lid is definitely better than mine 🤣.
Hahaha yours looks good too, watched your video :)
@@ParkersReef 👍🏾 that’s awesome to hear!! Thanks man! I’ll start trying to up my video editing to try and do my tank justice. It’s coming along so nicely but the videos don’t do it justice.
It’s looking pretty good to me, keep the videos coming 👍🏻
I have one from nick! Absolutely great
sensational!
Damn these are clean lids. Wish I'd seen this a couple weeks ago. Lost my first wrasse (Naoko) after it jumped and injured itself after buying a red sea DIY mesh kit that day! These look like a nicer option and less hassle, already noticing a slight nuisance having to lift the whole lid when I have to test or feed mysis etc.
Nothing worse than losing a fish through jumping :(
Sorry to hear about your Naoki
@@ParkersReef Definitely learned a lesson there
Great channel Sam, I must have watched a 100 of your videos by now. Your dream setup looks awesome. You've inspired me to jump form a 40 litre nano to a 6" tank which is arriving next week.
I haven't come across any type of monitoring systems in your videos that you use (apart from the Seneye par comparison)? Do you use one and is there a video on it.
Hey Tim, thanks for watching. I don’t run a controller yet, none are up to my standards for where a controller should be in 2021 *yet*
Tanks looking nice man, looks like almost no uglies in there
Yeah tank is keeping pretty ugly free!
Wow. I had a quote the other month. Was $400 plus shipping. I thought it
was expensive.
But looking at the quality there. I think they look well worth the price. 👍👍
It’s certainly not cheap that is for sure, but the quality is absolutely there
Parker has the most expensive lighting option I've seen for his tank. I am a little envious.
hahaha yeah, wen't a little over the top :D
Good timing, I have lost 2 fish in the last month from the suicide jump, 1 Picasso Clown and a Long nose hawk fish.
Jump guard ordered, I just need to return to the Uk to fit it.
Sorry to hear :(
@@ParkersReef I had a couple of upset daughters that day.... we live, learn and move on. Hopefully to more successful times.
hey these look great! how long does it take for orders to be delivered?
Depending on how busy they are, but usually 2-4 weeks :)
Great aquarium I have a glass lid and one time I fed them and forgot to close the lid and of course it happened I had this beautiful large Frontosa he jumped and I found him dead so I totally understand were your coming from .
Oh no!!
@@ParkersReef He did leave some baby's behind the frontosa.
Thankfully!!
Hi Sam, we are thinking of getting the NVS lids. Any update on how they are holding up?
They're holding up beautifully! I highly recommend them, tell Nick you saw them on Parker's Reef!
Hey sam poly is same like acrylic ot something else. Frame looks lkke it came with the tank amazing work
Polycarbonate is not the same as acrylic, they look they same but they are not :)
Yeah it’s a super neat finish that is for sure, totally looks factory
Can you please do a video on the corals you have in the tank?
It’s coming very soon :)
Parker, i ordered a waterbox reef lx 320 a couple months ago. I should be getting it in April. I have been asking them and checking their website for a cover or screen and they have not made one. Any suggestions if this would work?
Grab a polycarbonate lid like these ones reviewed here. They are amazing. If in Australia, look up NVS Aquariums on Facebook. If in the United States, check out clear view lids :)
@@ParkersReef will do! Thanks for the quick response!
Hey Sam, any drop in PAR that you've noticed? Or has NVS done the research for this? Thanks!
I’m expecting my PAR meter in the mail any day now. Then I can test and let you know!
@@ParkersReef keen to hear the results! Would be pretty good I guess
I’ll do a short video when it comes :)
@@ParkersReef awesome thanks, I'd be just happy to read the info here and not make it edit another video 😅 although it's good content 😁 I use a readsea and I've noticed a change in spectrum (tank goes bluer) on my LUX Engine upgraded primes. I'll be keen to get one of these lids if the change in colour and par doesn't change much ✌️
I can do it as a 5 min quickie video :p
But need this man PAR meter to arrive 😅
Tank looks way better without the canopy!
Sometimes yes, sometimes I like not having the light spill (or noise)
Wow make s me want to get one for my waterbox 60.2
I’d highly recommend!!
Nice and early upload
early bird gets the worm mate!
And today had to be the day my only living fish after ‘putty gate’, a six line wrasse had to jump into the overflow box and cause an entirely disassembly of the to the pipe work to fish him out 😂
Ah the little bugger!!!
What is the mesh made of?
yeah good question. Not sure if a plastic or a fibreglass, seems quite strong though! It is clear too
Time for a new title splash. Too many others are using this same setup ( and they nowhere near as good as this channel )
Yeah could be time for a freshen up!!
What was that site for us folks in the states?
Here mate:
www.clearviewlids.com
Ah yes that’s the ones I’ve been looking at. Thanks for the info:)
Anytime!!
👍
👌🏻
HELLO WRASSE COLLECTION!!!
Hahaha that’s it!!
Sic damm I like a open tank lol my fish are chill tho
So far....
That looks much better than the more course mesh type lids which are just plain ugly in my opinion.
Yeah I think so too, see how it performs over the next few months!
Lost a beautiful flame wrasse once now i cover every single hole in my tank lol
That’s it mate, only takes one loss to see the value in a good lid!
For the love of god please buy a step from bunnings
Hahah I have one, but the chair is there!!
👍
