Another great Texas musician is gone. Wow, I remember seeing them play for a cover charge back in the day. RIP Dusty. That rhythm section has to be pretty solid out there, wherever it is we go when we leave this world. Great tribute Matt! The Firebird is my favorite guitar of all time.
Thanks. I was not lucky enough to see them live unfortunately.
what this brother said, most of it
damn all my heros who inspired me to play are dying rip Dusty
Agreed. Unfortunately, they are all of that same generation.
@@MatthewScottmusic yeah brother i love your playing i am 55 and its awesome to see a young man still inspired by the blues keep on doing what you do brother and mabey a kid will be inspired to keep guitar alive
@@MatthewScottmusic well… you’re one of my guitar hero’s!
@@MatthewScottmusic Unfortunately it's my generation.
Then inspire man .✌
RIP Dusty...
Rest in peace Dusty Hill
......And so, another piece of the old Free America is no more.
Those guys had been together since 1967, when they were called The Moving Sidewalks.
Billy and Frank must be devastated.
So long, pardner, you will be sorely missed.
You come from a time when giants walked the earth.
vintage pink firebird, eb and blues, nothing to add, pure perfection
Yes. Rest in Peace Dusty.
Never really listened to ZZ Top, but still sad to hear of such a talented musician's death. A fitting tribute, and a very nice guitar! Rest in peace.
Thanks Eric!👍🏻✌🏻
@@MatthewScottmusic And peace to you too!
RIP Dusty
RiP Dusty Hill :(
Rip Dusty. What a beautiful musician and a person you were. Thank you.
RIP Dusty! ✌
RIP DUSTY 🙏
Aww man no .. dont tell me dusty died today? Aww man ...rip dusty ..you was badass and nationwide.
Spot on tribute. RIP Dusty.
that headstock looks like it came straight from a sci-fi movie
The guy who designed the Firebird designed old cars. That's why it looks so funky.
Thanks for playing to say goodbye to Dusty Hill.
Fandango to the State Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. RIP Dusty.
🎸🎧🎟️🤘🏻
I deleted my earlier comment because I wrote it before seeing this was a eulogy. RIP Dusty. Thanks Matthew.
Thanks. RIP.
This old rocker loves your playing.
Stellar ... bet Dusty would approve
Fiting tribute to Dusty. Great job brother.
man that guitar is just perfect.
The color is truly amazing, wish I could afford one.
Work as hard as you can and you’ll get one.
You can get good copies from different manufacturers. ESP LTD have one called the Phoenix which is red and has active pickups. It's about 2000 Australian dollars, as opposed to a Gibson Firebird which is about 4000 Australian dollars.
I have seen some broken or repaired Firebirds in the 2-3k price range. But sellers are usually asking top dollar for these as they were made in very small numbers.
Get the Epiphone version and fit some decent pickups!
@@ces69 Upper level Epi's already have decent pickups. It's the hardware that I don't like about Epiphones. I don't know what metals they use but they deteriorate quickly.
Rock in Peace, our brother Dusty Hill…
Heck yeah!!! I’ve been wanting a firebird for awhile now!RIP Dusty
The firebird is a beauty, always liked them in Pelham blue but that bergundy mist is quite beautiful.
Love the mini humbucker they have that gritty bright raunch usually associated with P90s but without the hum. Great playing as usual Matt!
Not to be a know-it-all in the slightest, but Firebird pickups aren’t mini humbuckers! They’re actually a unique rail style pickup more similar to a P-90.
Regardless, they sound completely their own, and very cool 😎
@@genericstain Dude now I want a Firebird. I mainly have P90's in my guitars and so it'd be fun to have something even slightly different.
The bridge pickup is from an Epiphone crestwood, best mini hb ever made, also called ‘mini paf’ for good reasons :)
A very touching tribute Matthew.
Thank you Dusty for everything you left us!
RIP DUSTY! 😢
Terrible news, a sad day indeed....RIP Dusty!
Great tribute Matthew. R.I.P. Dusty, should be a party in heaven Tonite!
This one was a gut punch. RIP Dusty. The classy tribute was appreciated Matthew.
This sounds so goddamn awesome, especially with headphones. Close your eyes and feel it. Won’t regret. Stunning guitar btw.
Greatest farewell tune ever. Sound awesome. RIP Dusty
Love that tight growling tone of the mini humbuckers
He died young didn’t he. His bass really added to the music. R.I.P Dusty Hill. That jam was amazing by the way! I love that guitar to pieces! 😭🤘🎸😔🪦
Nice blues, sad news.
Beautiful send off. Thank you, Brother.
No Way! 💔 RIP Dusty
We are losing them quickly it seems. I know I'm getting older but Lord GOD knows a change is going to come. His vocals and bass playing will be missed.
This is a good homage to a great musician
Somewhat fitting tribute to Dusty....
That guitar is such a beauty
Great to just hear you play some music!
Made my day.......! I didn't know about dusty...RIP and thank you dusty hill..
Nice tribute to a fine musician.
I'm trying to figure out how'd I miss this video 6 months ago, not sure about that but I'm caught up now! I like the way the mini humbucker quietly bites like a P90 and I'm contemplating a guitar to put one in... R.I.P. Mr. Hill.
Very tasty licks. RIP Dusty!
R.I.P. Mr. Hill....thanks for the blues. 😪
Great tone with that Firebird Matthew.
Thank You for sharing this.
RIP Mr. Hill
The amp is doing 99.99% of the work here
You're a good soul Matthew Scott.
RIP DUSTY
Ah man! That sweeeet firebird tone!
Rip Dusty. Who hasn't played a ZZTop song👍🇬🇧
That was some sweet playing. Nice tribute to Dusty. RIP
A soulful tribute, full of heart and feeling!
RIP Dusty!
R.I.p.
That tone🤯🤯🤯🤯
Thanks for an amazing tribute. RIP to a true legend!
RIP
You've always got cool gear , but I really enjoy watching you play . Thx !
Sad day for anyone that loves good blues. RIP, Dusty, and well done Mathew. Pink Firebird was a fine choice, and that Deluxe minibucker in the bridge just kills in that guitar!
Great sounding piece of wood
Whoa this sucks! I remember seeing them at the Warehouse in New Orleans in the 1970s. Seems like yesterday. RIP Dusty. And a nice tribute Mathew✌
awesome tribute Mathew!....
Aw man... great sounding guitar. Great tribute.
I turned it on and my cat instantly stopped what she was doing looked at the tv and watched it all the way through 🤣🤣🤙
That's one cool KittyCat!!!!!! RIP Dusty Hill So Sad to lose Another Great......................
Nice Tribute I would do a tribute like this for him but his laughing from the beyond would break through lol. Just an old beginner player here to say thank you for doing what I can't yet. I really enjoyed remembering him as you played. ZZ Top Rio Grand Mud on 8 track was my first Blues/Rock album purchased. That was literally a lifetime ago
Id rock that champagne pink bird......nice...
Great tribute to Dusty! RIP
GREAT tone !
Are you a Wizard?
As soon as I heard the news I cranked my fender and Marshall and played some tres hombres with my Tele. Incredibly sad to hear of it, never got a chance to see them live
I have an old 57 fender I wish you could play to show me the potential it really has
What model? I'd love to see it!
Mmmm. Perfect take. As I was listening I found myself thinking about dusty hill. Put so much fun and awesomeness into his playing. Don’t forget the furry guitars! Texas boys made good. Anyway, kinda floored me that at the end you dedicated this to dusty. “Anyway you want it baby, I am your burger man.”
Thanks for putting this elegy together Matt. You get it more than any one I know, the intersection of the music, the guitar and the musician. Your other homage pieces are equally as awesome. You show so much respect for those that came before. That’s pretty special in this world.
That thing sings, also nice to be this early seeing this video in the UK
Beautiful guitar
One of the best TONE in RUclips. I Never get tired of your licks. Every notes from ur fingers sounds amazing.
Awesome tribute brother. RIP Mr. Dusty Hill. God Bless.
Raw - sounds great.
Beautiful brother. I could hear Dusty playin' over that. GBNF Dusty Hill
Beautifully and fittingly done. A lovely gesture. Thank You.
Thanks Matthew that was a damn fine tribute RIP Dusty
Amazing!
I love that Axe 🪓
Thanks!!!!!!!!! Really cool.
That is a bad ass bird.
I hope I can leave after giving this world as much as guys like Dusty Hill and other great musicians have given. I'm only 17 so I have time.
Now thats a good sounding rig !
Great blues playing Dusty would be proud rip to the legend
Bravo!
Oh Yeah!!! That guitar sounds nice!!!
Nice work. Good tribute.
RIP Dusty Hill indeed. Awesome to see that at the end. I loved that guy and loved what he contributed to the other two for 5+ decades. Great video and great tone as always.
Classy - thanks!!
This was simple and to the point....and awesome , nice one buddy
Nice tribute and finished bird brother...............
Guitar sounds amazing as always Matt.
I was able to see ZZ Top three times live. The first time was with Joe Perry project opening up for ZZ Top. I was 16 years old at the Springfield Civic Center in Springfield Massachusetts. I knew who Joe Perry was from Aerosmith but I didn’t know much about ZZ Top at all. ZZ Top came out and played an amazing show. The set list was from there early days before MTV. Such an unbelievable three-piece band. It’s impossible to explain all the details but from the lights, sound, choreography and there music these guys were at a different level then I had have ever seen or heard before. I became a life Long fan from that point on and have Been inspired by Billy F. Gibbons to learn and play the guitar and cover their music in my own Little O Bands over the years.
RIP Dusty Hill
Awesome
That is one badass bad to da bone firebird brotha ,and the more I see that color I dig on it hard! I would play some extremely butter cream tasty tunes on dat one man!!! I love that neck pickup sound almost bell like to me!!!
when I want to get low and groovy I put on some old ZZ Top, plug my SG or my LP into my blues deluxe and crank it !
