Welcome friends, to a game I really strongly disliked. But this was a fun one to make so I hope you enjoy it!
Also, I realized Optimus Prime never uses the Knight Sword from the film and in the cover.
Apparently within the game's files, there's an apology from the devs because they didn't have anywhere near enough time and knew this would suck
I don't think it was confirmed. One of the people who was looking over the textures from the game files claimed to have seen it in a YT comment section but didn't provide any proof. Still, that's so fascinating

There is no proof of this and from the sounds of it has been debunked, but I sure HOPE the devs of ROTDS are ashamed of what they made being the continuation of some of the absolute peak of the Transformers franchise to... uh, this...
@@JacobNGames From what I've heard ROTDS was supposed to be a direct sequel to FOC (as wfc was intended to be a trilogy) but Activision desired a age of extinction game.
This game’s biggest crime isn’t the horrible writing, level design, asset recycling or pointless loot boxes. It’s the sound design.

To me, it's the audacity to be aligned with the FOC and WFC continuity and charging full price during release. The game is a massive scam.

The sad thing is that I've been so desperate for a new Transformers Game lately that I replayed this game last year and actually kind of enjoyed myself. I feel ashamed.
I don't think you should feel ashamed. If someone felt they wasted their time and money to play this game then bad for them. If someone enjoyed the game, good for them. I also enjoyed playing this game's campaign, though it definitely is the worst game of the 3 cybertron games. Because it plays like the other two games, I enjoyed playing this one too so I really can't criticise the gameplay itself
the FoC section are badly-but-serviceably designed level, and still FoC/WoC at heart. it's the fiilm part that really doesn't work
@@serPomiz yeah. as much as I generally understand the hate that this game gets I'd say that the Cybertronian sections are genuinely a lot of fun
maybe not good enough to be worth buying the full game for, but definitely good enough that I came away from my first playthrough feeling like I'd had fun with some memorable moments (all of which were from the Cybertronian sections) and on repeat playthroughs I just play the Cybertronian bits and skip the rest of the game.
this is so bad, they didn't even use the correct Megatron model. They used Fall of Cybertron instead of War for cybertron Megatron model. He got his new body in FoC because he was rebuilt by Soundwave during those events. Doesn't make sense that he is the FoC model when he hasn't died yet

I was going to call you stupid for rushing onto those platforms and dying instantly in the Shockwave mission. But then I realised half way through your gameplay that there is literally *no cover* to even temporarily hide from the drones.
those drones 3-4 hit-killed me a bunch of times. I had to destroy them first ASAP in order to progress

If it had remembered its meaning from the game box in the back, they could've called Worlds collide because that's what it was tieing into originally especially the trailer too.
I would've named it as the anti matrix because it was made from unicorns spark aa opposed to the normal matrix which was created from primus spark

I would've called it the Matrix of Dominance, to make it match syllable for syllable with Matrix of Leadership. Not to mention the Dark Spark is supposed to impart power while the Matrix of Leadership would impart wisdom.

I got REALLY confused for a second there when we started with T5 robot designs then moved to Cybertron Transformer designs.
Before playing this game, I was expecting the Transformers 5 characters to join forces with the Cybertron characters and have a big battle together. That never happened and I ended up realising at the end of the game that I kinda played 2 separate games in one with a tiny link between the transformers universes. So strange and disappointing
This game is contextually stupid on so many levels.
The Dark Spark is the bane of my hatred.
It's a shame that this game is disappointing on a conceptual level, like the concept of something from highmoon's cybertron war coming back to the war on earth would be great for Transformers Prime and could've helped make the Aligned Continuity feel more aligned.
If the cybertron levels are gonna be between War and Fall, you could play through notable events from Prime that we never saw in highmoon's world (Bumblebee losing his voice, Tailgate's death, the wreckers)
Either that or if this was gonna be a straight up asset flip tie in crossover, then have the highmoon and bayverse characters interact? Idk it's just a shame that this game was set up to fail from the getgo, and that Highmoon never got a trilogy
8:53 We did have Shockwave in Fall of Cybertron. He was DLC character, but my copy of the game from Blockbusters (RIP) came with a code for Shockwave in the box.
I try to give a no matter vibe that my sensors scrambled by EMP homies don't appreciate.
I remember how when i was a kid wanted this game so badly, i ended up finding it in a store only to be bought by some other guy, minutes later after the store owner tricked me and sold it to someone else, who was willing to pay the whole price for a used game, while my father wasn't so much sure of that.
Few years later i ended up finding a brand new FOC in a store for Christmas, thinking maybe this could be good despite not being the same TF game i wanted at first.
I remember how i felt pretty unlucky about this whole thing back then...no you can imagine how i feel now.

I never even touched this one; soon as I heard High Noon wasn't making it I knew it was best to treat FOC as the last game. Also really hope they make a SSG Shockwave, I loved that design.

The whole I hate about the game, is that you can't skip the cutscenes, even if you beat the game, you cannot skip them.
There was a Dark Of The Moon tie in game, but that game was prequel to the Dark Of The Moon movie.
Rise of The Dark Spark is a game even I wouldn’t wish upon my very worst enemies.
The one thing that really grinded my gears about this game was that they chose Shrapnel, a character who has appendages in his alt mode and can fly, to do a parkour section where if you transform you drop the object you're carrying. The first time i played RotDS i actually skipped that level because i got so frustrated.

Tbh the Cybertron portions of the game are not that bad, nowhere near as good as the High Moon games but the dialogue and banter between the WFC/FOC characters is pretty fun at least. The forced tie in with Age of Extinction, lootboxes, lazy level design, low quality textures, no PvP multiplayer are the things that ruin this game. Oh, and the bugs/glitches.
I am not a gamer, I only watch game movies on RUclips and while all the age of extinction stuff was really boring the cybertron scenes were kinda entertaining, this is the only peace of tf media I consumed so far that has non stop Soundwave shockwave starscream banter and I have to be thankful for that
What's interesting, at least to me, is that a good majority of the assets were taken from other games, it might be obvious but I noticed a good majority of assets being ported from WFC, FOC, and even the Dark of the Moon TF game High Moon made for console.
You can even see the in the cutscene of the final chapter, they had to reuse background, you might notice that the bloody thing is on loop a few times, with the rust water having a line being cut through it, as far as I can tell it's not different shots of the same animation, rather the same animation repeated in 3 different cuts. And what happened to Shockwave's wings in that cutscene? It looks like some of the texture is from a different part of the model entirely, I had to check on google and even in TF FOC to make sure I wasn't going crazy and turns out it's not just me, the wings are indeed fucked up.
Sorry for the Chapter 2 cutscene tangent, but to put that aside, this makes this weird piece of shitty TF game feel like a Mod of the High Moon games than an actual, well, an Activision Game. The weird map design, some the janky animations, even the premise and added Age of Extinction feel foamed in like fanfiction, and I would enjoy that if this wasn't an official game. But it is and it definitely has such terrible flaws, like the weirdest gambling system for unlocking things, the lack of pvp multiplayer, the Age of Extinction models attempting but failing to slot themselves into the base Fall of Cybertron gameplay, Everything involving Age of Extinction, you probably get the point.
I can't really HATE it, especially when I've put over 100 hours into it and have all of the DLC, but I find it kind of depressing. This is what was supposed to come after FOC, a game by a completely different studio trying to juggle 2 things at once, falling face first onto the floor and suffering a shutdown as a result. This might be a sense of nostalgia so maybe I'm being too generous or too nice to a game, and that's fair too. I would talk about more about the game down the detail but no one wants to read through that.
I was able to play Rise of the Dark Spark for exactly a week or maybe more. Then the game crashed, and every time I tried to start it up, it would force quit every time after
This was on the release day of it btw, so no prior knowledge of the game was fully known yet

I just had the version on the 3Ds, and sure there is only voices in the cut scenes there and it's a turn based game but I did enjoy it a lot
Ok, this game may be kinda bad. But I do have a soft spot for it because it was my first Transformers game and it reinvigorated my love for the franchise when I was 8 or 9
The cybertron parts of this game cant even be put on cybertron timeline, for example megatron got this model in chapter 9 of fall but he just wanted to capture tripticon and made it into a ship. And yes the jetfire segment supposedely is on trypticon which doesnt make sense. Thats why i think this game isnt in the same universe where war and fall are.
"What if we made a game split into 2 halves that have literally nothing to do with eachother" is such a funny concept for a game, how did that idea get so far.

At first when I saw this, I thought this was gonna be a crossover with the Movie autobots would meet WFC/FOC autobots about the dark matrix but it wasn't even that. It's not even a good multiverse crossover. Such a wasted opportunity.
Despite what Hasbro says the Cybertron games Optimus Prime is not the Transformers Prime Optimus Prime there's too many plot holes and it's just better to think about them as different universes

Cliffjumper is so bad a shot, he missed but tried to play it off as trying to be cool. Still Skyfire, not Jetfire. That last boss fight is just...ass.
All in all, 10/10 game! Better than the Armada one.
The scenes that take place in the alligned continuity are just bittersweet and painful, because you'd rather spend your time in that universe than whatever universe the bayverse style autobots are in,(I'm not saying it's part of the bayverse because it really dosen't fit, heck aoe and TLK don't match with the first three Transformers movies) but anyway, this game is just criminal for being such a shill product, and on the Transformers 30th aniversary no less, I sure hope we get some good Transformers stuff this upcoming year with it beings Transformers 40th aniversary and what not.

This game was such a bane on my existence. I know this is such a niche thing to complain about but when you play as grimlock they reuse the animations from fall of cybertron and it annoys me so much. I know it was probably to save time but it only made the game feel more like a disservice to the other games
Ironically enough, out of all of the Age Of Extinction Autobots, Bumblebee is the least horrifying. Emphasis on "least" because its still horrifying but I do like it in a way lol

It maddens me that they got basically all the original voice cast for this and gave them literally the worst story I’ve ever seen. Also throughout the entire game they play like three music tracks over and over again. What a tragic game.
Honestly, I never thought about the sound design being bad until you brought it up. I totally see it now. For me, the dialogue is what immediately felt like it took a big dip in quality since FoC. It made the characters feel like caricatures of themselves, Starscream being towards the top of that list for me as an example.
They were more realistic about how much bullets hurt in this game 15:17 - 27:00

I literally just bought this game on eBay for my Xbox one after feeling the need to play a TF game again, but after watching this video, I'm starting to think that wasn't such a good idea.

Take this with a grain of salt, but one of the game's devs said that this game was originally gonna be much more ambitious, ROTDS was originally pitched as a crossover game to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Transformers franchise featuring G1 Transformers with cel-shaded graphics (likely similar to the ones seen in Devastation), WFC/FOC Transformers and the Bayformers all teaming up to fight Unicron and Galvatron.
This pitch sounds similar to another Activision game, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, which had 4 Spider-Men (Amazing, Noir, 2099 and Ultimate) with different art-styles and tones facing off against a powered up Mysterio.
However one month into development Edge of Reality was told that they had to rewrite the story and cut the G1 Transformers from the game, then two months later EoR were told they had to rewrite the story AGAIN, as they were told they couldn't have the WFC/FOC Transformers interact with the Bayformers and that they couldn't use Unicron or Galvatron.
As levels of the second version of the story were being completed, they had to do ANOTHER rewrite to get the game out in time, this time the game was rewritten into two stories, one of the WFC/FOC universe and the other for the Bayverse, with the Dark Spark being the thing to link both stories and the already made levels would get cut into pieces, reshuffled, recontextualized, and glued back together to create the story of the final game.

I remember getting this at a Black Friday sale at Target and decided to buy it… I uh quit at the Shockwave and his 4 levers because for some reason, they decided to up the damage by 10.

I beat the 2nd level with the drones and guardians with a sniper and hitting all of them from the middle then using the missiles and shockwave for everything else took me 2 tries

Its weird, I played this game as a kid on the PS3, i remember not really liking the Bayverse sections, but liked the Cybertron sections.
I remember fighting the insecticons as shockwave, but i do not remember that 4 lever part with all the zeta primes you were stuck on, and I did beat the whole game. Maybe that section was just erased from my memory from how bad it wss lmao.
But tbh 90% of my playtime and enjoyment from RotDS came from Escalation, loved that mode to bits
I think the funniest part about this game is even the main theme isn’t original. It’s stock music. I know because it’s used in the food network show Chopped. The game was so rushed and lazily put together they couldn’t bother to do more than make 5 new models and write a 1/4 assed plot 😭😭😭
In the Shockwave level, I sat up on the top of the tower and shot down on them. I wait for the drones to come out my then shoot them. Then, I use the ETK Techbolt to take care of the autobots.
i remember when i played this as a kid the second level made me lose my mind it is so hard
a lot of the levels seem very re used, earth segments look very DOTM with no added details to them same with the cybertron segments, I remember hearing that they couldn't get the wfc model for Megatron so they had to use the foc which is why it felt so out of place for a prequel, I will say with it's many faults it had some good to it with adding new playability, I enjoyed the Insecticon and shockwave levels as well as having more time to play as Soundwave since he was so short lived in foc and wfc didn't have the minions

Forr the longest time this was the only Transformers game I had access to. I bought in 2017 and since the servers were pretty much inactive at that point, the campaign was all I had. In the past 7 years I have accuelated 175 HOURS worth of game play on the campaign alone. I remember thinking that It wasn't half bad and couldn't understand why people hated it so much. It was only recently that I was given an opportunity to play War for Cybertron which proved to be a far superior game. What I'm trying to say is that though this game wasn't the best, I still enjoyed it for what it was.
