I was actually fortunate enough to be living in Houston in the early 90's when Luciano Pavarotti came and saw him in person perform this. When I ran across Dan a few months & recently discovered his version, I was absolutely stunned. Doesn't matter how many times I play it, I get goosebumps every single time. Dan's father was Italian and loved Pavarotti, Bocelli, and also Elvis. Those tears could also have been because of memories since his Dad passed away several months before. Less than a week after his Dad's death, Dan also did a cover of Elvis Presley's American Trilogy as a tribute to his Dad and the tears come towards the end. I don't know how he managed to hold them back that long or even pull off that cover so well in the first place under the circumstances, but it's Dan. He never does things halfway & never ceases to amaze us.

"Nessun Dorma" = "Nobody sleeps" - that's what the heralds in Beijing proclaim in this opera; everyone should try to find out the name of the unknown prince before sunrise in order to release the princess from her promise of marriage. This was and is Pavarottis aria. And Dan is about to do like him - which is probably partly due to his Italian heritage. Great performance - great reaction. 🌟
Great reaction, as always. On his website, Dan also lists Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti as his singing influences amongst others. And he once stated he's proud of his italian heritage, his late father was italian. He definitely nailed it, as he always does 💯
