I couldn't believe what I was hearing.. there was about 12 of us standing there watching and loving it, I think face to face may have been playing and this crowd turned into hundreds in like 2 songs!!!! They were pretty wild to see this day!!

A7X was huge after waking the fallen. They were like the kings of that scene. As soon as city of evil came out a lot of their original fans left. I remember in high school talking to my buddy who was like in love with them but as soon as city of evil came out he bailed on them. I still think they write good songs. This era is untouchable though.
lots of original fans left but gain millions more. they know what they do. they need thrive and survive, they need change, they just did what they just wanted, different sounds each album. i'm actually never heard about them before city of evil come out, but now i love their old or newer album. yes it's different genres but i still love all of them, i never bullied them for mainstream hail to the king, or dislike them for rough sounding the seventh trumpet. I just appreciate them as a good band.
@@andikardian9014 Second Heartbeat is multiple genres/movements. It should've been a sign that they would go on to play whatever music they like on a whim. It makes perfect sense that early fans left with COE. But ultimately, for those who just like rock, whatever it sounds like, so long as it's good, Beast and the Harlot is vastly superior as a musical achievement compared to all this old stuff. Second Heartbeat is a great song in a weird way, but it's got way too much emotion for me to listen to often. I leave it off the A7X playlistt. It's got such a profound sense of lost time and nostalgia that you can't reach. I'd have to be in the best mood to listen to it and not just become sad.
The reality is that a7x is what it is today because of this fkn record waking the fallen. Waking the fallen was by far their best piece of music. Created a style to be followed for many other bands and a big asterisk for the genre. I listen to these guys since 01 im 25 yo . And for new fans saying this is garbage , this is what defined these guys. Rock on dudes
I agree dude, i found a7x on 2013 and really regrets that i never heard of them before. and it was HttK era, the guitar was really catchy to me in HttK but the drums was meh. and then as i listen to their older stuff i fall in love deeper with a7x, especially Eternal Rest, Remenissions and Desecrate through Reverence
I agree that Waking the Fallen is a masterpiece, all of it's songs are great. However, I believe most people hating on their early years do so because of Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, which in my humble opinion was a really shitty album. But everyone's gotta start somewhere, right?
While I kinda miss it, what I like about Avenged Sevenfold is that they ALWAYS does something new for every album. None of them sounds the same, but all of them are awesome.
I was 20 the first time I saw them in 2004. I had heard them on a hopeless records comp album hopelessly devoted to you a couple years before, and they were incredible to see. I remember anybody that listened to them during that time were completely blown away by their music. Hell I even remember people that started listening to them in 03/04 getting made fun of by people that had only been listening to them for 2-3 years. It's amazing though, that as quickly as this avenged sevenfold that people fell in love with took off, is as quickly as they left us....

Sophomore in high school during this tour. One of my buddies gave me a burned copy of Waking the Fallen, and I fell in love with it. That CD didn't leave my stereo in my piece of shit truck for at least a full year. Wasn't a fan of the change in direction and never really got in to the newer stuff, but I still love WtF.

oh my godness....i went to this warped tour and this was one of the main reasons, yet there was so much goin on that unfortunately i made it for their last 2 songs. i was in the far back. good times. rip rev. a7x forever! my 6 year old autistic son found one of their newest songs recently and i have fallen back in love with this band. good times!
Waking the Fallen is still one of the best and most complete metal albums ever made. I'm not too into the albums that followed it, but regardless of what they've done since or will do in the future, that album is a masterpiece and I will always respect them for it. 🤘😑🤘
Saw this 2003 set in boston on the Ernie ball stage (right before Murphys law). I had never heard of them before but loved it. I saw them two years ago at Rockville in Jaxonville..probably 10,000 more people than the first time. Pretty cool.

The whole set is played kinda slow, but that’s understandable cause the original versions are fast as fuck. Hopefully they doing something for STST’s 20th anniversary. Some old audio/video recordings from the vault would be nice.
