    This is one of four videos going through a systematic way of making a song happen. This is only one approach that I use starting with drums - most of the time I start out with a guitar riff which is something we will hopefully go through in future. Be sure to subscribe to see all the episodes and more videos like this!

    Hey guys. I am loving ML Drums. Thank you for helping me figure out the MIDI mapping.
    Maybe we can get a tutorial on using the pads on a MIDI controller for programming midi drums?

    How do you add one note? When I add a snare note, it repeats it the same in each measure. What if I want to hit the note in only one measure? It’s like it’s copying each note to each measure

    Great and instructive video! Awesome ML Drums, I think it can beat EZdrummer.... Two questions, can I mix layers of sounds with my samples? How does it work with continuous CC, is it possible?

    Do I need a drum pad to use this software or can I create drum tracks with mouse and keyboard? I'm a complete vst virgin and I have no idea what I need. I have the Reaper DAW if that helps. I really don't know how to use that either. Yet.

      Hey Clayton!
      I personally use a MIDI controller (Korg NanoPAD2), though Mikko and many others opt to use the mouse programming method instead. Ultimately, it's whatever you're comfortable with!

      I'm with you Clayton, I downloaded it however I thought it would have stuff programmed already (plug n' play) however it seems like we need additional stuff. Unfortunately, I have no idea either.. I don't know what the other program he's using is. I'm over here just clicking the snare having no idea how to put that in reaper and no idea how to get a full kit going

    don't u have many midi grooves, like ezdrummer?

    • @mlsoundlab
      @mlsoundlab  3 месяца назад +1

      It's not something we have available at this time, but we are talking about it. In the meantime, Groove Monkee groove packs should be fully compatible with ML Drums.

    What's your suggestions about velocity?
    Can we go 127 all the way for snare and kick?

    • @mlsoundlab
      @mlsoundlab  5 месяцев назад +1

      You can use 127 velocity with the humanisation and it'll stop the "machine gunning" effect, but it won't automatically register things like ghost notes, build-ups, and general dynamics for softer sections. ML Drums can't hear your song, so our advice is typically to use 127 in the writing stages, then go in and tweak to taste afterwards.

    Hi! Just got the essentials pack but i´m having issues mapping my e-kit with ML the way i got it done in SSD5.5. I tried to change the synth track in Cakewalk from SSD.5.5 to ML but i´m missing the ride and some snare hits, tried to map them manually/using the built in SSD map option but it did not work. Any chance to make a tutorial on how to map an e-kit to user preference on ML and save the maps as presets? I would rather use ML drums on my e-kit/songs than SSD5.5 since ML drums sound better! Kiitos.

      Thank you so much for the kind words! You should be able to use the MIDI learn function in the MIDI tab for this - just hit the small record button next to the relevant kit piece, then hit the correct piece on your kit to map it. Hope this helps!

      Importing midi into your DAW should be fairly straight-forward. Just be sure that the midi mapping page fits the midi source. ☺
