Can you give me an example of what you did to treat him as a man instead of a child? My husband told me today that he thinks of me as his best friend, his mom, and his baby at the same time. I don't want him to think of me as his mother but I can see how I may have caused that outlook. I think i do too much to help him and our family because I feel like if I don't do everything it won't get done.

Why am I crying 😭 I am married to an unbeliever (Jesus saved me after we were married and had kids) and have struggled and struggled for control. I’ve been wrestling with God over this for years just knowing that I know better for my family and unfortunately I’ve been going in circles. It hit me so hard when Lisa said “it’s a yoke to you, throw it off” and that we don’t need to trust him, we need to trust God. I am working on throwing these burdens off according to my convictions. The teaching my children of Christ is a non-negotiable, but I have to let go of so many other things.
The timing of this conversation was perfect. I’ve needed this so much. Thank you, ladies!
I could use some prayers please, for the salvation of my husband and for wisdom in navigating through this.

As a young woman in her 20s, these conversations are so meaningful. It’s so devastating to see my generation fall apart and indulge in numerous short term pleasures. I’ve struggled finding female mentors my entire life, but women like these are so strong and truly empowering. I’m tired of being told that as a woman, I’m not strong because I’m not a man. That empowerment comes from independence. These things are all lies and I see my peers being destroyed by them. As a woman, strength is found through compassion, altruism, and empathy. Not acting like a man. Empowerment is understanding and submission. No one realizes the guts it takes to be dependent on someone else, it’s way more difficult than independence.

Excellent discussion, ladies 👏 I feel that the word "submission" to our husbands has been turned into a term that implies "defeated" or some other negative connotation. Sure, if a husband is abusive, irresponsible, or just lazy, all of this will definitely feel like a burden. When a man won't step up to the plate, we automatically put those extra stresses on ourselves to make up for it, and of course, we get burned-out eventually. A healthy family unit involves teamwork on some level. I can't change my husband, but I usually pray and ask God about changes I need to make, not just as a wife and mother, but as a daughter, friend, sister,, etc.

Yes, and I appreciate Bevere's clarity on submission to husband and societal gender issues, but her stance on female pastors and preachers is a blind spot that comes out of her pentecostal foundation.
Obedience to God's word regarding female roles in Christ's church is equal to the roles of women in the home. Bevere misses that entirely and will draw women into rebellion in both if she is not strong and clear on both.

I have a big problem with the submission portion of the conversation. And although I respect my husband in many ways, I cannot approve of his moral and faith values. I married him thinking he was on the journey to Christ. I believed that he would be the father and husband he made me believe he would be. If it was up to my husband alone, he would not always attend mass. He is okay with transgender. He is okay with abortion! He is a pretty left liberal now. I can’t leave it up to him to teach our children values when I see his values as extremely contrary to the church! I have no intention to divorce him. And I want to help him return to the conservative values I thought he had when we married. Though he is fighting me tooth and nail. If I say white, he says black. He strives to be contrary before he begins to listen. He is so very different now, 27 years later, from where he began. I love my husband, but I cannot sit back and permit him to make these kind of family decisions. He would lead us away from God with the views he has. But our home is so toxic. I need more from him, and our children need more from him, before I believe he could be a family leader in that way. I mean, it hurts when he values and believes the views of his friends over his wife. He seems to think it’s okay to challenge me all the time and disrespect my views, especially in front of people. He does not honor his wife. God would not be present in our home if it was just up to my husband, which is very strange because I thought he was a stronger faith person when he made the decision to join Knights of Columbus. He is full of contradictions.
And, I believe that God made Eve from Adam’s rib, not his foot bones or skull bone, because Eve was made equal to Adam. And when the Bible says for woman to submit and men to love his wife as God loves his church, he is saying that man should love and honor their wives so much as to die for her, and woman should return that kind of love and honor with the kind of love Jesus gave to his apostles whom he lead when he washed their feet. Jesus was submissive, but not slave. Jesus humbled himself before those he loved, as wives should humble themselves. Basically, woman, don’t get a big head because your man is supposed to honor you with his life. You have to be good to him too. And if Jesus can submit himself to humility before his disciples, wives can give the same love to their husbands. It’s about unconditional and humble love… not man is my boss. It also teaches man on how he should behave towards the receipt of the humbled, unconditional love.
Anyway… sorry for rambling. It’s just that I hear it said all too often in a way that honestly takes away from the point that Eve was made from Adam’s rib. Eve was made his equal. But there is a kind of love and submissiveness that is necessary from each person for the couple to survive and blossom in God’s grace.

Scripture says "In the last days, men [people] will become lovers of themselves" There are more true narcissists today than ever before.
I was in a relationship with someone who was a genuine narcissist and I feel like my testimony is now questioned by people. Unless you've lived through it, questioning the victim is the worst thing that could be done to them. True narcissists cause their victims to question their own reality. When a victim reaches out for help and the response from others is to question them on whether the other person really is abusing them... it actually perpetuates the abuse that they are presently enduring. If someone reaches out to you and accuses their partner of being a narcissist, the best thing to do is ask for examples AND THEN PRAY. Do not come to any conclusions, or question them right then and there. Let God reveal what is going on. I hope that makes sense. 🙏

I completely agree. Thank you for this comment. I love these ladies and agree with most of what they say, but this hurt some as a survivor of hidden and covert abuse ("no bruises".
I typed out this big reply and then I went to look up the scripture you were talking about which is 2 Timothy 3:1-9 "...In the last days terrible times will come. 2 For men (people) will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good, 4 traitorous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these!
6 They are the kind who worm their way into households and captivate vulnerable women who are weighed down with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 who are always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth.
8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, also these men oppose the truth. They are depraved in mind and disqualified from the faith. 9 But they will not advance much further. For just like Jannes and Jambres, their folly will be plain to everyone.
I came back and my response was gone and I was typing it out again and then it was not recording properly.
But I do agree with you that scripture says that in the last days there will be people that will fit many many of those characteristics this scripture mentions and that definition is very close to narcissistic/antagonistic-type personality styles. Just because someone says a person is a narcissist, narcissistic, toxic, etc does not mean that you are "diagnosing them", as they said. If I say they have Narcissistic Personality Disorder, that is diagnosing them. If you say they have this certain list of characteristics like entitlement, manipulation, gaslighting, and, in some cases for malignant narcissistic people, they are sadistic and very psychologically abusive, then you are stating behaviors they exhibit. Allie mentioned someone getting "beat", but in psychologically abusive relationships we won't see bruises on the outside, but there are many many bruises and scars on the inside. Many of these women are pushed to suicidal ideation or even actions because they're scared that no one will believe them.
I do agree that some of these words have been overused but at the same time I think we need to take all of these from women seriously and simply listen. If a woman or man brings this information to their church, a counselor, their pastor, or mentor they need to listen like you said @natashaclason7075. Questioning doesn't need to be immediately about what the woman has not done or done or what they need to do to make things better. Many, many women stay well past the point where it's dangerous because they want their marriages to work out, they want their husbands to get better, they want their families to stay together; that was true in my own 18-year relationship and in many many women I see as a pastoral counselor. This goes for men as well because the numbers for abused men are underreported, but most of these people want to stay in their marriage. They're not looking for an excuse to get out, they're looking for guidance on what to do. I wish they had spent more time on this and I know they did make a few caveats, but then I felt they jumped right into how the beginning of Lisa's marriage was difficult for 4 years and that they just stuck it out and everything was better for it. I don't think that that was a really good way to transition into the next part of the conversation. I know they only have limited time on here, but there are many narcissistic personality style people that hide in churches because we as Christians are told to forgive, to bear with others, and lots of things, and I agree with that, but we're also supposed to carry the load God calls us to carry. God also has six things that he hates and 7 that He detests and this list also in 2 Timothy 3:1-9 is very consistent with the list of what God hates: a lying tongue, haughty eyes, feet that are quick to run to evil, people who devise wicked schemes, people that are divisive, etc.
While I hate that people overuse words sometimes, that doesn't mean that that's not true for a lot of the women and men that will say they've been abused or or the victim of a narcissist. That doesn't mean we want to stay a victim, but we should be able to tell the truth without fear of people doubting the legitimacy of the abuse, as well as call out people to the standard that they're supposed to be at in relationships of all kinds.
Sorry this got very much out of order because of having to write it 3 times, but I would love for @allie @lilarose and @lisabevere to discuss this more and have people on that have experienced narcissistic abuse first-hand.
      Thx 🙏🏼😊❤

I’d love to hear your opinion on how society disrespects mothers. I’ve definitely been disrespected and the pain of that is hard to overcome. I did not deserve it but in a culture that thinks men can be women, and women who abort are celebrated, we need to work together to change our society to understand the fundamental position of motherhood. Motherhood is a position appointed and honoured by God.

One more thing. I think we as women of faith need to soften our hearts and the hearts of our radicalized sisters. I keep thinking of the scene from Moana where Moana bravely walks up to the lava monster and knows its the feminine goddess of life and call out to her heart. The monster cools and allows Moana to place the heart inside her chest bringing life to the goddess and to the surrounding islands

I think one thing Live Action could benefit from is opening up somewhat to different perspectives. For example, not shunning secular people or people who are religious or spiritual but not Christian who may never believe or believe different things, and accepting that’s their personal journey on this Earth. Or for example, in their video about the sexual revolution, trying to remember that if we all existed only for the community like they said, and based our milestones and morals on that, we wouldn’t really have a full human experience. That doesn’t mean there isn’t an objective truth, but everything each individual sees is filtered through their personal bias and there is no other possible way to experience the world if you’re that person. As CareNet says, love of self is one of the pillars of Christianity. It’s not above loving your neighbor or loving god, but we are made in god’s image, so how can we not honor ourselves, and part of that is not always focusing on procreation. We need to accept that sex solely for emotional intimacy or physical pleasure is okay, and that many people don’t just stop having sex after their fertile years. Yes, people should still take responsibility for sex and step up when it comes to pregnancy, but I think it’s more nuanced than either always having marriages and families or always focusing on sex for just physical pleasure.

Just want to add, about the triple x media aspect of this. I think that one thing that was missed here, is the female side of consuming triple x media. If a wife for instance is against her husband watching that, but she reads romance novels filled with the written version of it, that's hypocrisy. I don't think Christian women get called out for this enough, if at all, as the focus here always seems to be about the men. Which seems more like a feminist view than a Christian one.

This is a much needed episode and topic. I think that it may be time for hetero women like you to directly confront the women who are saying things like, the future is female, etc. Which largely are, non hetero rad feminists, both old and young.
I've only seen one person do this, which is Jordan Peterson who confronted Cathy Newman of Channel 4. But Jordan did a fantastic job, but he is a man. I think we need to see this from women like you. Otherwise, these specific feminist women continue to go unchallenged by the very kinds of women who need to do the challenging. In order to make real change.

Lets be careful suggesting that "there just aren't that many narcissists". There aren't that many diagnosed narcissists due to the fact that the narcissist isn't going to go see a psychologist who is well trained in narcissism. If there is a pattern in emotional abuse, gas lighting being a huge red flag, then I would take the situation as an abusive relationship instead of simply being disappointed.

This should be titled “how to see the world through rose colored glasses and win brownie points with our husbands by promoting traditional roles, while being blessed with flexible jobs that generate a good income”. Where to start…
The same way that some professors at the university pretend to be liberal, but they move their families to conservative areas and live quite conservative lifestyles, because they know what values actually work (they are married no cohabiting BS, their wife is educated also as educated people tend to marry educated people, they send their children to conservative or private schools, they don’t embrace the partying lifestyle or promiscuity, they go to church - even if some of them don’t really believe, for the sake of community - while promoting the confusion of liberal values and alternative lifestyles to others, to win brownie points with the crazy far left activists).
So, it is with these ladies here, who see the world through rose colored glasses. This is my impression of them, Lisa sounds very reasonable and balanced at first, but then goes off the deep end (especially her support of an 11 year old giving birth… an 11 year old getting pregnant - aside from the abuse of it - is life threatening to that 11 year old because her body is still growing, and is still not equipped to safely carry a pregnancy to term. So, an 11-year-old and her parents should have the choice of aborting).
Moving on, while I agree for example that it is good and freeing to just leave it in the Lord’s hands, the Lord never said to submit to an incompetent or ungodly man (as Lisa implied). Abigail in the Bible knew that her husband was a fool, and she was the one who wisely averted David’s desire for revenge due to her husband’s foolishness. David praised her for her wisdom, he didn’t berate her for not being submissive to her husband in that circumstance. Also know that any man who is hung up on the word “submission” is not a good man.
Like Allie said, a marriage should be collaborative and respectful for both parties, with the understanding that the man is the team leader (if he is truly Godly and therefore wise). On a side note: I hope that Allie is okay, because her eyes don’t look well, she looks like she either cries her eyes out before going on air, or that she is not able to sleep well (which is the most probable and my guess), or that she has some kind of addiction (alcohol or some other intoxicant, which I don’t think is the case). But her eyes look red and tired. As for Lila Rose, she comes across as a very sweet woman who is very privileged and therefore lives in la la land.
The Proverbs 31 woman was a rich woman (in the sense that she was married to a rich man), which is obvious from the descriptions of her. She doesn’t represent the everyday woman, and the challenges that an average woman would face. The woman in Proverbs 31 had servants and maid servants, does the average woman have a crew to clean her house and cook for her? This woman also has a side hustle from knitting, but it is obvious that she is supplementing her income with her husband’s money, to be able to go out and buy land. She also has those servants to work the land. So, she wasn’t doing it all on her own, far from it, she had a lot of help inside and outside the home.
As for p*rn addiction or consumption, if you find out that your boyfriend or fiancée is looking at this stuff, you should break it off immediately (and not get back together with him, unless he has really worked on himself and repented to the Lord and changed). P*rn does not just make a man weak (unable to control himself) and unable to carry his daily responsibilities, but further down the road it makes him sociopathic and dangerous (by stunting the person consuming the filth). A man cannot be truly Godly while putting his mind under Satan’s influence.
If you are married, and you discover that your husband lied to you about this, then you have every right to divorce, Jesus says “He who looks at a woman to lust after her in his heart, has already committed adultery”, and the Bible allows for divorce in the case of adultery. Now sure, at first you need to put some effort to make the marriage work, and it is good that it worked for Lisa, and her husband was truly remorseful and repentant, but she should understand that there are many men who are not like that. In that case, a woman owes it to herself and for the safety and well-being of her children (if she has children with him), to leave - even if it is hard.
In short, I agree that men and women shouldn’t give up easily on their marriages because marriage is sacred and is ideally for a lifetime (and I believe that the majority of women -especially Godly women - do not give up easily on their marriages). Yes, some online female liberal channels do seem to thrive on outrage and sowing division between husbands and wives, but at the same time some online male conservative channels also thrive on the same by selling false outrage to the males. Many online men are not religious even when they pretend to be, a portion of them have idolized sleeping around (which is destructive for both men and women), have been leaving the churches for the past 40 years, are now online pretending to be Christian while promoting the idea of cohabiting with women without marrying them (which is completely un-Biblical and un-Godly), don't want to be told to be committed to and to love their wife or to provide for their children. Now an increasing number of women are following suit (but instead of idolizing sleeping around and cohabiting without responsibility, they are choosing to be 4B). So, aside from the economy that I believe is the number 1 cause for falling marriage rates and birth rates (and the falling birth rates are a global phenomena, so it is not just the West), there is a problem in the behavior of both men and women, but I see it more pronounced in the men, whereas I see women being more reactionary to what these types of men are doing or promoting.
