  • Buying a house is the most important and expensive decision that you are going to take in Canada - however, it is really important that we prepare for it from Day 1 - which is when we get a credit card.
    In this video, we will talk about the 5 rules that you need to follow in order to improve your credit score from day 1. We will also talk about what makes a credit score and what can we do to improve it in a very short time.

    We don't like immigration agents - the ones' that aren't authorized by ICCRC and qualified to help you with your application in exchange for money - first of all, it's not legal to do that, and second of all, it's so easy that you don't really need paid help! We are a young couple who started their Canadian Immigration journey in 2018 and moved to Canada 3 days before the pandemic hit in March 2020. Over the course of our application, we have seen so many people getting screwed over by greedy / fraudulent and unauthorized immigration consultants who promise you the world in exchange for thousands of dollars and deliver a whole lot of NOTHING; to an extent that in many cases, the applications get rejected, due to their negligence.
    Therefore, we are taking matters in our own hands. After months of research and our own experience of applying for a Canadian PR, we came up with an e-book series & this RUclips channel which would include - errors to avoid, perfect sample documents (my own) and alternate ways of immigrating to Canada - 100 pages of absolute goldmine between these 3 e-books - no filters, no premium versions to these ebooks... everything is out there FOR FREE, for you to read and execute the process yourself! All we are doing in these ebooks is sharing our experience of applying for PR ourselves / structuring and pointing you in the right direction via various different resources that are available on IRCC's official website. The RUclips channel will compliment the e-book and add some personality and entertainment to the entire process :-)

    If you find the videos beneficial, please do watch ads completely. I respect them alot, but need to save money. So, I watch one ad atleast completely :) Best channel EVER! You made my friend consider using credit card, who is strictly a believer in no spending anything on loan, just spend from your current savings/money which you have. :) Kudos!

    I know that your main audiences are Indians but do you mind just speaking English so that we can all understand? I'm so sorry I dont want to be rude You keep switching and I sometimes get distracted. And anyway, if somebody's English is not good enough to come to Canada , why would they need to watch these amazing videos?
    Thank so much. You are amazing

    Navjot job well done at explaining all these points. Specially it makes sense for people from India and other countries where credit cards have not yet taken off that well and the penetration and credit infrastructure is still not that developed.
    However, I would say the advice to make any expenses (after 30% limit is reached) using debit card or cash can be avoided, just that the credit used should not cross 30% at any time (though I know that you did say that). If one can anticipate more than 30% credit usage then just pay off the already used credit limit.
    Rest of it great content

    Good informative video :) . I would agree to all your points BUT you need to see that you don't have credit cards from all the banks. You should have at-lease 1 Visa and 1 Master (as some stores only accepts Master like Costco, NoFrills etc). I have manage to have more credit cards and are able to pay them on time and utilizing it 30% of credit limit still the lender will see how much you are spending and are paying it off and still you have money to survive (i don't know what this concept is called). Though lender will see that you are paying off your credit bills on time there are no hard credit check or any dues still the amount they will lend you will be less as you need money to survive so also consider that.

    • @Amiralyb
      @Amiralyb 4 года назад

      Few more things the credit check is hard credit check (which reduces your credit score regardless if your loan is approved or not) and other is soft credit check (no impact on your credit score) which is commonly done by internet/cellphone service providers when you get credit limit increase on your credit card(s). The other thing is you can check your credit score once in a year which is free (though your bank offers it for free but not all banks provides it for free). Thirdly, if you are checking your credit score frequently other then FREE (make sure its free and do read the fine print which as it will not impact your score) service provided by your bank/institution you could end up decreasing your credit score as credit beaurue will consider it as hard credit check request/inquiry. In Canada there are 2 credit beaurues Transunion and Equifax make sure your information is upto date with them.

    There is one thing you are missing
    The credit score we check in scotia Bank that is made by Trans Union Credit Score....
    Actually that's not real credit score we can get an idea though plus this credit score is only centred or limited to your scotia bank. Means if u take credit card from Canadian tire and miss the payments that will not effect your Trans Union credit score.
    But in real it will impact real credit score

    Hi Navjot, thanks for the advice. Should the same principle of buying a car on a loan apply to buying a house?

      I wish it was that easy :(
      Captions need to be made, which takes a couple of hours per video

    Hello...your videos are very clear and informative. I have a query. What if someones has enough money to pay for like 20% down for a house in canada within a short time of arrival from their previous savings. Can they get a house right away?

    • @Potatotalkies
      @Potatotalkies  3 года назад

      Sure… but the rate of interest may not be the best as your credit score will be on a low end. Do check with a mortgage broker about your options

    If someone has taken loan outside Canada and paid half of the amount and lost job and then couldn't pay the loan. The bank filed a case and that person had to pay fine but still has to pay off the remaining amount . will they check his credit history ? Will it affect on his PR application?

    • @Potatotalkies
      @Potatotalkies  4 года назад +1

      Your indian credit history doesn't matter in canada as long as you don't have a criminal / fraud strike in india against you.

    Hey Navjyot!!! As you said if one is planning to buy a house in Canada, he or she has to start planning from the day one lands in Canada. My question is can an international student plan to buy a house in Canada?

    • @Potatotalkies
      @Potatotalkies  4 года назад

      Sure.. you still need to build your credit history for when you are a PR and able to buy

    Is it possible to have bad credit history in India and make a strong 750+ credit score in Canada?
