Its actually a chinese shineray motor. Ive got mine for over 2 years and one of the nicest bikes ive had. Enough power, simple to maintain, comfortable and sounds great with the twin exhaust. Sold in uk and france as the mash 400 and here in south africa as the crosby 400 tt. Would not swop it for anything else
My motorcycle is a Well 125 iii 2007 model, still running good today didnt have any major issues its all just in the owner in how to maintain a bike even if it is a chinese made one.
You'll get what you pay for. Planning to purchase this cafe 400, but i change my mind because of the difficulty in parts and reliability. I have a 125cc scooter 2013 model, FI came from big 4, (i will not mention the brand) just replace the battery last Dec 2017 (batt almost 4yrs). I dont have any issues at all, of course quality comes with the price.
after you've looked at and become familiar with the popular Chinese brands, the engines are almost all direct copies of the "top 4" usually expired patents copied and updated. so upgraded original parts are easy to find. for example this 400 is an engine clone of an old Honda 500cc engine de rated, with euro 4 compliance. it will last forever, what you may need to do is upgrade all the bearings to Koyo, for about 500 Pesos, and then electrical issues are also common.
I purchased one in January from Motorstar General Santos city. great motorcycle but have had nothing but trouble with the battery .they won't honor the warranty on the battery as they only give one month though I reported the problem when the bike was only 2 weeks old. I broke a clutch lever and mirror holder in January (someone knocked it over in a supermarket parking lot .one of the side covers fell off on a ride. I ordered both parts in February and I'm still waiting in July. the staff tells me they dont sell enough of them to keep a stock of parts. If that's the case they won't sell many of them which are a shame as I have owned many bikes over the last 50 years and BSA Norton Velocette Suzuki and Honda THIS IS UP THERE WITH THE BEST OF THEM
Thanks for the info. When the battery failed, did you use the kickstarter? Regarding the battery, I think the hot sun will effect the water/acid levels. Here is my video; ruclips.net/video/q7yXVmQIehI/видео.html
yes used the kick starter but it didn't start easily with that .Its a great bike performs well along with much bigger bikes .the only problem iv had was the battery .
Yes after much discussion they replaced the battery under warranty had a few rides on it since with no problems .Just did a pleasure ride over all sorts of roads approx 100km this afternoon with no problems . great bike now that the battery is fixed .
yes Motorstar general Santos agreed that I had had broblems from the beginning and replaced the Battery now its running great but still waiting on a side cover and clutch lever assembly.
Please keep up the great work. I'm from Canada but looking to be in Dumaguete in January. I'll be looking for a bike or a small vehicle when I'm there, but looking for something that fits both myself and GF. I watch all your posts and enjoy them. I'm in Manila now until the end of the year. I have to get out and do some looking here.
Gordon, I made a couple videos regarding new 3 cylinder cars available in the Philippines; ruclips.net/video/A4OegOlhJfk/видео.html ruclips.net/video/8cz9Tk3ahK0/видео.html
well I'd recommend the cafe 400 it rides well even with 2 up .if your GF can hang on she will be great on the pillion I had to put a backrest on for my wife because she kept sliding off the back.but take it off when she isn't traveling with me .I, have done several long rides with many other bikes including Harleys and BMW and it has no problem keeping up with them .
Hi i was just in dumaguete on business. And i had a few hours to kill before my flight back to manila. I remembered this video of yours so i google-mapsed (?) motorstar. It showed me the one near the airport so that's where i went to. They dont have the cafe400 there and they told me this dealership is on the other side so i didnt bother.
Sorry they didn't have one. I am surprised this dealer on the National Hwy. has it. I checked at this dealer a few times and was told the 400 model was only in Manila. For whatever reason they finally had one in stock.
i did alot of research on this bike.. I think it will be a nice bike.. but for a little bit more you can get a used CB400 and thats a 4cyl with alot more power. i think its nice though. based of a 80s suzuki motor if i remember right. Uk has it as the mash400
there are quite a few. I dont know about duma but there are 2 or 3 in cebu for sale. Look on olx. They run about 150k. Then again your getting an old used bike. I would get one If it will fit my wife.
I don't think its lack of maintenance more toward the life expectancy on certain parts and the climate here. Like the rubber carb boots or seals, shocks or fork seals.. old chrome paint and plastics. Nothing that really cant be fixed or just need attention. A shiny new bike is always nice. Hard decision when the bike price is this close. The cafe 400 is a nice bike. The question is how nice is a 150k cb400..
I agree. The climate will have a lot to do with it. I just found some videos of a foreigner talking in depth about his Rusi 250. His channel is called "Lewis Cast". He seems really pleased about his purchase. If you can find a nice CB400 that was gently used, it could be a good deal.
Looks like it might be the same as the Chinese Shineray XY400. When you were at the Rusi dealer did you ask what they would give you if you traded in your 175 on their cafe racer? Just think how cool you'd look cruising down the Boulevard on that!
Yes, I think it is the exact bike. No, I am keeping the 175. It is really all I need. Would anybody be looking cool with a cafe racer? You bet. Every summer there is a bike meet in Dumaguete; ruclips.net/video/z2BH3az5IK8/видео.html
Can you tell me, what model of bike is that, parked right next to the Cafe 400? It looks much like our RUSI Mojo, but has twin rear shocks, instead of a monoshock. We need to find a longer saddle with handles for our Mojo. I wonder if the saddle from that Motorstar sport bike might fit ours?
QUESTION; are there motor cycle machine shops in phil..that can do ,,a complete motor rebuild / boring cylinder / new piston-rings /lower end bearings,,yes complete . salamat po .
As far as I know there are several here in Dumaguete. One named "The Black Hole" on the main highway. I haven't been inside any so, I don't know exactly what they do. My best guess is they can do engine work. There are also metal fabrication shops. Bud Brown did a series of videos regarding the fabrication that was done on one of his three wheelers. You have probably seen the trikes with the sidecar bodies attached to motorcycles. When I got here I thought maybe there was a company that built those. Nope, every one is fabricated individually at various metal shops.
Great,,thank you . i had a 1979 honda xl 500 enduro , loved its low seat height & power . drove it from the redwood forest in cali to chicago over a three month road/camping trip . after i retire to phil ,,i may search out a older large enduro ,,400 to 650cc thats if i can find a very good machinist for a complete motor rebuild . if it looked used,,better still ,i would create a bobber/scrambler style .

Phillipines has no fully auto matic. Motorcycle like Taiwan does..I've kind of waiting for it...but I already send one home. To my ex girlfriend..his brother really like it. Easy to use.. I guess I had to buy 2 kind of motorcycle here and ship it to phillipines.. Tricity 155cc.and force 155cc..or kymco. Racing king 180cc

you are right bro, its not on what kind of motorbike you have if you are a reckless rider it wont last long. Its up to the user on how he uses his bike. My friend still ride his 1995 model china made "Aligator" 150cc that look like a big bike and its still in top shape condition.
american here and i go to china and build these bikes and have a world record with them. have fun boys there good bikes .. change a few cheap items motorstar puts on them and they are good bikes
I know a lot of guys (both foreigners and locals) bash China bikes out here in the Philippines. However I agree, they are good bikes. Sometimes the China bikes don't have asmany "bells and whistles" as the Japanese bike but, I can't see the 30-100% markup price on a similar Japanese bike

I didnt hear you mention it but is that bike a twin or a single banger. Great performer if it was fitted with a twin Cyl engine methinks.
It is somewhat of a unique setup. One piston and two exhaust ports. Hence two exhaust pipes.
Matibay ba yong 125 o 150cc pngTricycle ng Motorstar?
Good day sir...i hope u can feature also those available cheap cruiser like the kawasaki avenger 220....tnx

A CB400 would be ideal. Although I don't think there are many of those in the Philippines. I did see a honda 750 on the road here a few days ago.
there are quite a few. I dont know about duma but there are 2 or 3 in cebu for sale. Look on olx. They run about 150k. Then again your getting an old used bike. I would get one If it will fit my wife.
