I heard this same exact howl when I was about 11. Heard it multiple times over 5 years. It was RIGHT outside my window. The second time I heard it there were HUGE tracks in the snow the next morning with blood and feathers showing up half way down the walked trail. They lead to the woods behind my house. This was in Yorktown, IN in 2003. I wish so badly that I had a recording of it from back then. I told my ex about it. He found a random howl and played it without warning(happened to be the exact one I heard) I instantly broke out in a cold sweat, my hairs stood on end, and I was crying. If you've heard this first hand you're likely to have that reaction apparently.
What do you mean by right outside? Like just inches away from your window or several feet away but the sound was so loud it seems like just right outside? What about the height difference between the source of the howl and the height of your window?
This is 100% real, because I know the sound first hand, but much closer than what was recorded here. Try within 50 yards, or less. I was 16 at the time, and deep in the Big Sur forest, which is also in California. The creature was very close, and I wouldn't look out of my tube tent after hearing it, from being too spooked. I said to my friend, "What the hell was that?!", and he intuitively replied, "Nothing from this world that we know of." Shortly after hearing the howl, rain came down like a deluge, and almost washed my friend & I away. The howl in this video is the exact same howl I heard long ago. I will never forget that howl. It was very close, and louder than 10 freight trains.
You were lucky to record that Sasquatch from a fairly good distance. I wasn't so lucky. The same exact sound came from maybe 50 to 75 yards in Big Sur, and it was angry! I was very lucky though. I'm here to tell it.
It sounds like a Sasquatch call, which Sasquatch/Bigfoot mimic other well known to the area, animals. But you can always tell the difference, the pitch.
I think this one is not a coyote or wolf because my dog isn't reacting to it,but when I switch to coyote videos of coyotes howling my dog starts howling,than Ill switch back to this and he stops howling.Ive switched back and fourth like 10x and he howls everytime to coyote howling videos but not once to this video..I think its definitely not a coyote or wolf..

I thought so to, until I looked at the roads on Google Earth. One gravel road about three miles away. It's possible somebody was out there with some every sophisticated audio equipment doing this.... It's crazy if someone was though, because It was as foggy as hell and 30 degrees with snow flurries all night.
There are a couple of locals in Chester that modified/distorted several animal sounds and sometimes go out in the woods and play them over loudspeakers. Just to see how many people report it. You are not the first to report weird night sounds in the Almanor/Lassen area.
