ANGEL OR DEVIL IS IMPORTANT! I have spent a lot of time thinking about the Angel or Devil choreo and particularly their Comeback Show performance of Angel or Devil and I think it has a lot to say about the member's characters in the Star Seekers storyline so please hear me out! (this will be a lot!) The Angel or Devil choreo draws distinct lines about who are angels and who are devils. At the beginning, Soobin and Beomgyu are angels, Yeonjun and Taehyun are devils, and Kai is stuck in the middle choosing between the two. Soobin and Yeonjun remain consistent throughout the whole choreo as the Angel and the Devil (which they also refer to themselves as outside of the dance as well) so in the storyline, we can call Soobin the Angel and Yeonjun the Devil. By the end, Taehyun has switched sides to join Soobin as an Angel, Kai chooses to be on the Devil side with Yeonjun and Beomgyu is now left in the middle to question which side he should choose. This alone can tell us a lot about their characters, but there is another important element of Angel or Devil that has to do with their clothing in the Comeback Show performance. I always thought it was neat that the colour choices of the members' outfits in the Comeback Show performance of Angel of Devil was a subversion of expectation, and more recently I think this detail can tell us almost everything we need to know about each character in the storyline. Though we are told by the choreo and the editing at the beginning of the performance who is on which side, their clothing colour seem to be quite contrary than we would expect. We associate angels with purity and the colour white while we associate devils with darker colours like black or fiery demon colours like red. In this performance however, Angel Soobin is wearing black clothes accented with reds and oranges, Devil Yeonjun is wearing all white with Turned-to-the-Light-Side Taehyun in a pure white outfit, Chose-the-Dark-Side Hueningkai is in a neutral that later reflects the side he chose, and Fallen-from-Grace Beomgyu is truly neutral with an outfit consisting of red, white, and black. So what does this mean? Well, to put it simply: Looks can be deceiving. We are all unreliable narrators when it comes to understanding our own colours and I think these outfit choices and dichotomies between Angel and Devil show how each member understands their own story. The choreo tells us who is on what side, but their outfits show their true colours. In this case though, Angel and Devil is not a distinction between Good and Evil (I don't believe any of the boys in the story are inherently the antagonist) but rather shows Protection vs Pain in both the ways the members self-identify and the expression in their actions. This is shown through their classification as Angel or Devil vs what is shown through the colours they wear. I'll break each member down: Soobin: He has the best intentions and would do anything to do right by and protect his friends. I think this is why he has Angel wings when he sacrifices himself in The Doom's Night. But intention does not always equal outcome. Soobin knows the most out of anyone about their past and he has his own ideas about what has to be done to ensure a brighter future for his friends. He genuinely thinks what he's doing in the storyline is for the best, hence identifying as an Angel. But his actions are what show his true colours as those dark and firey colours. Because he knows more and keeps it to himself, Soobin becomes a LIAR through omission, and that ultimately hurts his friends and helps create a rift between them. If he is one of the attackers in The Doom's Night, I believe it's probably a well-intentioned trigger event for some paradoxical time loop that will turn out the best outcome (but I won't get into that now). Soobin is an Angel, but in order to do what he knows is best to help all his friends ends up hurting them in the process and causing a lot of mistrust within their friendship, making him an Angel painted as a Devil. Yeonjun: He does not believe that anything he does is right or good. He feels guilty! The horns on his head make him feel like a monster and the contract he made with the cat to protect his friends only resulted in more pain and he bears all of it. He blames himself for everything that has happened so he accepts that he is a Devil. But his true colours actually show him as someone with pure intentions and actions that speak louder than their consequences. Even if Yeonjun has pinned himself as the root of all their hardships, all the members adore him. They know that everything Yeonjun has done was to protect them because he has never been shy to show that. Yeonjun may think he's a Devil, and may even think the only solution is to take the burden of suffering onto himself, but all the other members would do anything to save him from himself and show him the true colours they see on him. Taehyun: Like everyone else, he has the purest intentions. Depending on the part in the story and his actions, Taehyun is subject to see himself through a different lens. I think Taehyun identifies himself as a Devil at the beginning because of his inaction. Twice in The Doom's Night, Taehyun is rendered helpless in protecting his friends (Witch attack, and Eternally purple field with Yeonjun) and we can see the desperation he feels on his face. He blames himself for not being of any use which makes him as good as a Devil. But then he decides to get to the bottom of everything that is going on so that he can classify himself as an Angel who saved his friends. His clothes indicate the purity of his actions as his true colours. Though he may also be a LIAR through omission and may take part in the attack on the members, he does so in a way that the other members can interpret as pure intentions (well... maybe except for Beomgyu). We know from the Eternity concept pictures that Taehyun was suspicious about Soobin, so maybe he only helped Soobin with the attack on the members after understanding the true paradoxical nature of their situation (Again I won't get into it, but imagine the Third Harry Potter. Harry was with Hermione and supported her attacking their past selves in order to get them out of Hagrid's shack and save Buckbeak). Hueningkai: He is a blank slate at the beginning. He can't exactly choose a side to identify with when all the other members want to protect his innocence by keeping him in the dark. It actually seems in the storyline that Huenigkai is the one constantly in harm's way as seen in The Doom's Night (taken by the dragon as a child, and targeted by the attackers). So Kai is undecided on how to think of himself because he hasn't gotten the opportunity to be either an Angel or a Devil. I think a lot of the reason he eventually identifies as a Devil reflected by his all-black outfit has to do with his secret. Whatever is coming in chaos, I think Hueningkai knows it's because of him. He will be the one to hurt his friends, be it intentional or not (my guess is not) which paints his true colours as black while he sees himself as a Devil Beomgyu: He constantly takes it upon himself to be there for his friends and fix their problems like the bandaid/healer he is. He always did the noble thing and saw himself as an Angel because he loved his friends and tried to show that he'd do anything for them. But then things started to change in their friendship. Everyone had their own secrets and tried to deal with their pain on their own, leaving Beomgyu feeling more like a burden himself than the person who could relieve it. He felt like an extra that could be edited out at any minute and he was tired of everyone drifting apart instead of coming together so he started to act out. I think he felt betrayed by his friends because they wouldn't let him be the shoulder they could lean on anymore (see Taehyun leaning on Beomgyu's shoulder in the Blue Hour MV while he sings about wanting to go back in time). Beomgyu knows on some level that his actions are selfish and hypocritical. Deep inside he knows his intentions are good (his white shirt), but his actions are starting to paint him in a negative light that he's thinking is maybe warranted. All he knows is that he wants to go back to how things were before that giant rift in their friendship was created, so for now he is stuck deciding between being that Devil responsible for hurting the ones he loves and that Angel that will save everyone from their misery. TLDR: In The Comeback Show performance of Angel or Devil, The divide between Angel and Devil in the choreo shows who is actively trying to save and help the members (Angel) vs who feels responsible for the suffering (Devil) while their clothing colour indicates who is actually causing pain (Black/Red), and who would do anything to ensure it ends (White). But ultimately, they are all doing the wrong thing and causing more pain by working through it on their own. I've been saying it for a long time and I'll say it again: their ending will show how these 5 boys came Together under One Dream to build a better Tomorrow.

And I just wanted to say that Quetzacoatl is a god from Mexica mythology (I'm from Mexico) so Taehyun's patronus may be a snake with feathers as well with similar powers such as "the power of the wind" Quetzacoatl was also the god of life, light, civilization and wisdom, maybe that's why Taehyung had de book and defended TXT with some kind of wind

The Doom’s Night confirmed for me what we see in Runaway Japanese mv that Yeonjun slips between boundaries, Kai has no boundaries and Soobin bends/breaks boundaries (the contract with the cat, the adult mirror vision and the mirror portal vision respectively). And in Blue Hour Japanese mv Soobin and Kai are always together when magic happens. Could Soobin maybe use Kai’s magic, hence the angel wings at the end and the two blue patronas birds that are Kai’s when the “witches” attack Kai and Soobin? We do not see Soobin’s patronas during the “witches” attack, did not see his item as an adult and his pain (ears) was already there as a child. On the other hand, Soobin sings the angel parts in Angel or Devil, so maybe he is indeed an angel… So many questions and so many comebacks and years still until we will know (if ever)… That is the true Chaos.
this video absolutely blew my mind!! i havent been engaged with the lore much recently bc life got pretty busy, but seeing how the theories have evolved and improved, and seeing all the new connections is so so wonderful. keep up the good work, i think we are in for an exciting new comeback and tons more information. this is a VERY obscure piece of lore, but there is a videogame called Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark, considered Forgotten Realms canon, in which a person called the Knower of Names was trapped in a layer of the nine hells called Cania, which is notable for being intensely cold and completely frozen over. The knower of names knew the true name of everything in existence but was bound by the gods to only reveal them for a price. I doubt bighit knows about any of that but its a neat coincidence. there are probably a few other mentions of true names in forgotten realms canon, but i guess nothing in the rulebooks for actual 5e play. i recommend checking the forgotten realms wiki as well as the candlekeep forums if you need more d&d lore info. great video as always!! thank you for everything you do for the fandom

Like expected things didn't end well tho, but they truly believed that's how they could save their world. Hopefully what I'm saying makes sense. So yeah maybe the Soobin and Taehyun from the "future" think they could save their world by messing with the world of their past selves.

Hey bestie! i play d&d and i think that you should note that in the game the dungeon master is in control, they can grant wishes give or take powers and sometimes even make the party turn against each other my theory is that the cat is playing the role of the dm and the members of txt are at their mercy, and the cat is only giving certain members certain powers or information (true or false) and that is what is making them distrust each other
Paladins have a mount, and at high levels they can get a mythical mount, like a Pegasus or in this case, a unicorn. It’s possible his knight has the kitsune, although that could be a special rule of their campaign that they all get a familiar. Rangers have animal companions, which could’ve also been upgraded by their special rule. Some sorcerers, the ones that follow a path like wizards, get familiars. Once again, the DM can create special rules for a particular campaign, and I think they all got special familiars because of that.
Here's my two cents: Hyuka's spirit animal is related to bird, which is also related to penguins Beomgyu's child spirit animal feels like a care bear, Yeonjun's is obviously a fox and Taehyun's Quetzalcoatl resembles a squirrel For Soobin idk I didn't see his spirit animals but rabbits have large ears dough which is also his quirk or punishment ig Do I make sense? i think i kinda believe in your theory about how the 'witches' are taehyun and soobin. Cause i have this favorite netflix show called Dark and its about dimensions, time travelling and stuff, and in the show one of the protagonist made someone trigger all the happenings for the past 3 seasons so that the bad things will end or the loop to be exact. So in txt's case, it might be true that someone in the group might've bring taehyun and soobin to disguised as witches to trigger everything. It's such an interesting theory!
I think it's a bit late but I just notice that in the first pre-chorus of Can't You See Me it was Soobin who say 'guhaejwo' or Save Me in English and in the second pre-chorus (I don't know if it's suppose to be pre-chorus but it's the word they say before going to the chorus) Yeonjun is the one who say 'Save Me'. What if it's connected to their contract with the cat, Soobin already got saved by the "Moa" so maybe Yeonjun's next?
just thought id say something blue + green gives you cyan cyan the color of the boys magic cyan + red gives you magenta which is the color of the dragons fire if u look closely in the beginning of TDN its rain dark purple rain which basically means "a deep longing or desire that will likely not be met" which to me means that in that eight role they needed or DESIRED the star song to defeat the dragon but It didn't happen cause they could not remember it so the desire to stop the dragon at that moment wasn't met and purple rain also could mean *THE END OF THE WORLD* signifying that them not having the stars song would cause the end of the world I've had this in my head for the past few now just thought id say something before I go crazy hope it makes sense

I just read a theory by @Isla Newman about the possibility of Yeonjun knowing the Cat's "True Name" which is why the cat is trying to get leverage, but what if the secret Huening didn't know he had was that he knew the Cat's name? It would fit in with how he is always in trouble! Huening Kai wouldn't know why he is always in trouble and it also fits in with why he is taken by the dragon. If the theory in the comments about the Cat being the Dungeon master is true, then it would make sense as to why The Cat would want Huening Kai eliminated, as he is the only being that holds any power over the Cat. Also, I don't really know how DnD works, so if anything is wrong please let me know!

My take on doom's night : 1). The blue-green eyed cat; greater power; abraxas = their agency aka BHM-Hybe kkkkk They made contract with it, right? It represents both good & evil, depends on how you wanna see them...? And the cat always watch over them, keep finding them all over the place, know their true name? Gosh 😂 2). The dragon = idk, it represents obstacles.. it'd might change in the future, but one thing came to my mind for now is covid-19 🤭 Bcs the dragon suddenly crashed the stadium and made a "CHAOS"...... And we can't have concert now...... Everyone? 😂 3). The ghost = MOA Moa being ghost bcs txt can't really see us in person bcs of the fukkin dragon aka covid 🤪 but they can feel that we are always with them~ Tho moas are ghost, we have big roles on healing them pains, woohooo 4). The witches = haters Figures that attack them seemingly without reasons....? Soobin and Taehyun may have come from a future where in they either failed to defeat the dragon or haven't yet, but finally have a better plan to win the next time around. So they go back to before the dragon arrives to prepare the group, to trigger them to use their powers and trigger yeonjun into borrowing the cat's power. side note: Looking back the guys in the black coats had a huge advantage over the boys because none of the boys had the powers they had when they were kids. The black coats could've easily struck the boys down down but they didn't. And after Yeonjun got the power from the cat... they just left?? Which can lead us to assume that whatever their goal was, their intention was never to k;ll. they definitely almost to severely injured them though 😂
Yeah I saw this too and was wondering if they are trying to force them to remember? To remember how to defeat the dragon. It’s also interesting how they (txt) just forgot their childhood. I think someone cast a spell or something on them that made them forget, because there is no way that they just forgot something as crucial as their friendship.

That’s what I was thinking, but maybe the reason why they did it was to get more powers from the cat(?) instead of like borrowing but then again that could be why to since it’s always affecting him (Yeonjun) in some way, but I’m not really sure and also maybe the reason why Taehyun and Soobin (if it is them) came back from the future was because they were trying to warn them which is why Soobin sees the future along with Taehyun (as we see in the eternally mv) Soobin sees what happens to the members and the stage that got destroyed, while Taehyun sees Yeonjun dying. I’m not sure if it is like DnD but if so Huening Kai’s charisma is maxed out so that would mean he has deception, performance, persuasion, and he could also possibly have investigation, though I’m not to sure about the last one but anyways since he has deception he is pretty good at hiding things so I have a feeling that he could know something about what’s happening too but he hides it from everyone in order to protect them, if you look at all of their cards they all have something maxed out. I also think that maybe Huening Kai still remembers about the dragon and stuff but I’m not to sure.

12:00 I just remebered that in crown we also see Yeonjun with 9 tails..... 17:17 The bird is not the only dead creature we see associated with Huening Kai...In the Magic Island MV there was that dead dragin fly aswell 20:23 Just pointing out in the CSM era taehyun had red hair...Magic Era yeonjun had blue hair(safe) and in Blue hour he had pink which is essentially a muted version if Red and Soobin had Blue hair(safe) Currently for the "Freeze" Era he has red(evil) hair. If we are to assume that Freeze does indeed come chronalogically after Magic then its possible that Yeonjun has been corrupted.

If Taehyun and Soobin are the hooded figures, they could have come from a bad die roll or ending and went into another timeline/roll to set up the events so a good ending could come or set up them learning their abilities so Soobin can figure out the Star song?

It could be because his representative flower in the questioning film is an Icelandic poppy which symbolizes human obliteration but his representative animal is a gecko which represents hope or rebuilding lives, life cycles and the circling of energy which could also explain his time rewinding ability
In Can't You See Me, we all know that Soobin and Taehyun cross their fingers, but the only ones who actually keep the pinkie promises are only Yeonjun and Hueningkai. Beomgyu did not make a pinkie promise, he made this "🤙" sign.

I think the reason why we don't see their reflection during the particular scene where Yeonjun opens the door and records the members is cause it's a memory and in memory, you don't tend to remember every detail especially if that isn't your main focus, but we see it later on while Kai and Yeonjun are very near the mirror and where you eyes tend to focus both on them and their reflection.
in my opinion, the number eight (8) looks really similar to an infinity symbol (∞).. we saw the 'bad ending' come out of the number eight in the doom's night animation and since the number eight can look like an infinity symbol, does that mean that they will always get a 'bad ending'? p.s: laina looks so triggered when she was talking about mirrors lmao gurl chill >.

If I were to draw connections between D&D and the +U, I would say that the Cat is the Dungeon Master, considering he is the one that kind of introduces new possibilities such as time travel and he is appearant in more universes, so he would, quite literally, be the most "universal" (and therefore most fit) DM.

I was rewatching the 2019 MMA performance and I noticed in the VR the book yeonjun finds that does the appearing and disappearing rewriting thing that tom riddle's diary does and that he has a emblem thingy that they use to summon a magic circle and the weird emblem thing has never been brought up again so idk if that will ever be explain or I am just being clowned but i feel that may come back in the future.
The theory of their pains forming a dragon made me think of them fighting themselves. It’s like the dragon is actually them but it’s the side of them that they want to hide and don’t want to accept cuz they view their “pains” as something monstrous so they chose to run away from it instead of accepting that it’s part of them. I think this theory is tied up to Can’t We Just Leave The Monster Alive. Their weapons/magic didn’t really defeat the dragon but when they started singing it did just like in the lyrics of CWJLTMA where it says that they’ll just throw away their weapons, give up their stats, and leave the monster alive. Also maybe that’s why the “ghost” got rid of their pain because the “ghost”(MOAs) made them feel accepted that made them accept their pains as well.
Just wanna say that RUN AWAY CHOREO HIDES SO MANY THINGS. LIKE 5:53 or what we know as blue hour was already hinted in Beomgyu's part, and TAEHYUN LITERALLY CONTROLS TIME. When TAEHYUN's part after Yeonjun's iconic pump part, the members literally FROZE and TAEHYUN casts a magic and they moved again. Then at TAEHYUN'S part (again now on the second verse after BEOMGYU'S part now) the members FROZE again and TYUN casts a spell, they move, AGAIN. But here's another, the part of TAEHYUN and YEONJUN before the last chorus, YEONJUN also made the frozen members move with a snap of his fingers, and then TAEHYUN controlled their movements with his hands. Then SOOBIN go in a portal that is made by the members(PRE-CHORUS), and it kind of makes me think of that metal things in doom's night, like maybe they are broken portals probably leading to other stories/universes. I just rewatched the Japanese blue hour mv and I find it interesting how Taehyun is the only one who uses his magic in the mv. Also he has a close up when they are singing "the sun is down" and then we see Yeonjun alone with the horse in the darkness but at the end Taehyun is the one who is left alone with the tea cup and the ghosts. He also has the doll that Yeonjun had in the run away mv. I feel like because Taehyun knows Yeonjun will die he will try to find a way to save him but in the process something will happen and the 2 might switch places or maybe Taehyun will be left alone on the island.
Just a little note here: You talked about mirrors. Well, in the No Rules choreography there is a moment (specifically at 1:16) where Soobin and Kai do something that can be interpreted as a mirror, and Yeonjun and Beomgyu dance as reflections of each other. And when Yeonjun tries to pass to the other side of the mirror, Taehyun holds him back. That's it. I loved your video.
Hello sister I am and always have been a huge fan of you. Even though I know I am late but the true name thingy does exists quite prominently in Egyptian mythology. If you know a person's true name its means that you can quite literally control them since its the gives the listener the name of a piece of the soul the named person (in our case we suspect yeonjun). In egyptian and sumerian mythology you will find this alot. So if we technically assume if yeonjun did make a deal with the odd eyed cat and revealed his true name to it, it means the cat could do anything including controlling, influencing or even taking Yeonjun soul and his memories of his life and his living consciousness from Yeonjun without his consent. WAAAHHH this is getting really messy cant wait to see if Yeonjunnie survives even with that cheaters code.

29:20 I've read somewhere that the cat has possessed taehyun and soobin. Soobin tries to control beomgyu (cysm reference) and lure him into the possession too(which he probably partly succeeds in). Beomgyu being the healer tries to help taehyun since hes probably not THAT possessed as soobin ( considering how lonely soobin is in eternity era), but beomgyu is partly possessed and so he tries to suffocate taehyun and eradicate the possession. (Again idk if this makes sense, probably might make sense/ spark an idea to someone out there)

Everyone knows this here. It even has its own show and movies. The plot is about a 7 year old girl called Laura. One night she looks out of the window watching a star fall to earth. She emidiatly runs out of the house and saves the star, patching one of his spikes back with a plaster. Ever since then she and the Star are good friends and whenever she is in trouble due to bullies or other things the Star appears and helps her with his magic. Also i think in the last movie there was this plot where she and her little brother Tommy went to Monsterland because 5 evil monsters (note 5) stole her brothers dog plush. sorry just a brain dump from my thoughts after reaching the end of the True Name section: So, the boys on magic island have "codes names" to disguise their "true names" right? like when playing an RPG, you dont put your username as your actual name, you use something like "Potatofries32." Magic island is the boys' escape from reality, like Laina theorised, it is an online place, digital, or having something to do with a "higher connection" like computers and electronics. while on magic island the boys use their code names. also stemming from Laina's DnD theory, since the boys are playing the game, there needs to be a dungeon master. somebody who controls the outcome of the said "game." this person, could be the blue and green eyed entity. this entity (or imma just call it the cat) is the dungeon master, or ruler of the realm. it controls the outcome of their experience, therefore, it is all knowing. Somewhere along the way, when they boys saw the outcome of their life on magic island (i.e. yeonjun dying, and everything going crazy) they (or rather heugning kai) turn back time, and go to the game master for help. they want the cheat codes, or the "Doom" code, as seen on the photocard, to make sure nobody gets hurt or dies. however, they had to trade their "true names" over to the dungeon master to ensure that they all survive. however, i did a quick google search on true names and the first item that popped up on the list gave this explination of true names: "A was a creature's hidden name that, rather than just acting as a label, metaphysically truly belonged to that creature. All beings had true names, though most of these were unknown, especially to mere mortals. Knowing a creature's true name could grant power over it. There were several different accounts of true names and how they functioned in this sense." c. forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/True_name the cat, according to this explination, with the boys' true names, now has power over their lives, or over, the game. But, like Laina said, if all players of the game have true names, then so does the cat. This ties back as well to, "the name they need to remember, the name they need to call out." Could this be referring to their own names? the stars' name? Or maybe, to truly escape the grasp of the cat's control, do they need to discover its name? ANGEL OR DEVIL IS IMPORTANT! I have spent a lot of time thinking about the Angel or Devil choreo and particularly their Comeback Show performance of Angel or Devil and I think it has a lot to say about the member's characters in the Star Seekers storyline so please hear me out! (this will be a lot!)
The Angel or Devil choreo draws distinct lines about who are angels and who are devils. At the beginning, Soobin and Beomgyu are angels, Yeonjun and Taehyun are devils, and Kai is stuck in the middle choosing between the two. Soobin and Yeonjun remain consistent throughout the whole choreo as the Angel and the Devil (which they also refer to themselves as outside of the dance as well) so in the storyline, we can call Soobin the Angel and Yeonjun the Devil. By the end, Taehyun has switched sides to join Soobin as an Angel, Kai chooses to be on the Devil side with Yeonjun and Beomgyu is now left in the middle to question which side he should choose. This alone can tell us a lot about their characters, but there is another important element of Angel or Devil that has to do with their clothing in the Comeback Show performance.
I always thought it was neat that the colour choices of the members' outfits in the Comeback Show performance of Angel of Devil was a subversion of expectation, and more recently I think this detail can tell us almost everything we need to know about each character in the storyline. Though we are told by the choreo and the editing at the beginning of the performance who is on which side, their clothing colour seem to be quite contrary than we would expect. We associate angels with purity and the colour white while we associate devils with darker colours like black or fiery demon colours like red. In this performance however, Angel Soobin is wearing black clothes accented with reds and oranges, Devil Yeonjun is wearing all white with Turned-to-the-Light-Side Taehyun in a pure white outfit, Chose-the-Dark-Side Hueningkai is in a neutral that later reflects the side he chose, and Fallen-from-Grace Beomgyu is truly neutral with an outfit consisting of red, white, and black.
So what does this mean? Well, to put it simply: Looks can be deceiving. We are all unreliable narrators when it comes to understanding our own colours and I think these outfit choices and dichotomies between Angel and Devil show how each member understands their own story. The choreo tells us who is on what side, but their outfits show their true colours. In this case though, Angel and Devil is not a distinction between Good and Evil (I don't believe any of the boys in the story are inherently the antagonist) but rather shows Protection vs Pain in both the ways the members self-identify and the expression in their actions. This is shown through their classification as Angel or Devil vs what is shown through the colours they wear. I'll break each member down:
Soobin: He has the best intentions and would do anything to do right by and protect his friends. I think this is why he has Angel wings when he sacrifices himself in The Doom's Night. But intention does not always equal outcome. Soobin knows the most out of anyone about their past and he has his own ideas about what has to be done to ensure a brighter future for his friends. He genuinely thinks what he's doing in the storyline is for the best, hence identifying as an Angel. But his actions are what show his true colours as those dark and firey colours. Because he knows more and keeps it to himself, Soobin becomes a LIAR through omission, and that ultimately hurts his friends and helps create a rift between them. If he is one of the attackers in The Doom's Night, I believe it's probably a well-intentioned trigger event for some paradoxical time loop that will turn out the best outcome (but I won't get into that now). Soobin is an Angel, but in order to do what he knows is best to help all his friends ends up hurting them in the process and causing a lot of mistrust within their friendship, making him an Angel painted as a Devil.
Yeonjun: He does not believe that anything he does is right or good. He feels guilty! The horns on his head make him feel like a monster and the contract he made with the cat to protect his friends only resulted in more pain and he bears all of it. He blames himself for everything that has happened so he accepts that he is a Devil. But his true colours actually show him as someone with pure intentions and actions that speak louder than their consequences. Even if Yeonjun has pinned himself as the root of all their hardships, all the members adore him. They know that everything Yeonjun has done was to protect them because he has never been shy to show that. Yeonjun may think he's a Devil, and may even think the only solution is to take the burden of suffering onto himself, but all the other members would do anything to save him from himself and show him the true colours they see on him.
Taehyun: Like everyone else, he has the purest intentions. Depending on the part in the story and his actions, Taehyun is subject to see himself through a different lens. I think Taehyun identifies himself as a Devil at the beginning because of his inaction. Twice in The Doom's Night, Taehyun is rendered helpless in protecting his friends (Witch attack, and Eternally purple field with Yeonjun) and we can see the desperation he feels on his face. He blames himself for not being of any use which makes him as good as a Devil. But then he decides to get to the bottom of everything that is going on so that he can classify himself as an Angel who saved his friends. His clothes indicate the purity of his actions as his true colours. Though he may also be a LIAR through omission and may take part in the attack on the members, he does so in a way that the other members can interpret as pure intentions (well... maybe except for Beomgyu). We know from the Eternity concept pictures that Taehyun was suspicious about Soobin, so maybe he only helped Soobin with the attack on the members after understanding the true paradoxical nature of their situation (Again I won't get into it, but imagine the Third Harry Potter. Harry was with Hermione and supported her attacking their past selves in order to get them out of Hagrid's shack and save Buckbeak).
Hueningkai: He is a blank slate at the beginning. He can't exactly choose a side to identify with when all the other members want to protect his innocence by keeping him in the dark. It actually seems in the storyline that Huenigkai is the one constantly in harm's way as seen in The Doom's Night (taken by the dragon as a child, and targeted by the attackers). So Kai is undecided on how to think of himself because he hasn't gotten the opportunity to be either an Angel or a Devil. I think a lot of the reason he eventually identifies as a Devil reflected by his all-black outfit has to do with his secret. Whatever is coming in chaos, I think Hueningkai knows it's because of him. He will be the one to hurt his friends, be it intentional or not (my guess is not) which paints his true colours as black while he sees himself as a Devil
Beomgyu: He constantly takes it upon himself to be there for his friends and fix their problems like the bandaid/healer he is. He always did the noble thing and saw himself as an Angel because he loved his friends and tried to show that he'd do anything for them. But then things started to change in their friendship. Everyone had their own secrets and tried to deal with their pain on their own, leaving Beomgyu feeling more like a burden himself than the person who could relieve it. He felt like an extra that could be edited out at any minute and he was tired of everyone drifting apart instead of coming together so he started to act out. I think he felt betrayed by his friends because they wouldn't let him be the shoulder they could lean on anymore (see Taehyun leaning on Beomgyu's shoulder in the Blue Hour MV while he sings about wanting to go back in time). Beomgyu knows on some level that his actions are selfish and hypocritical. Deep inside he knows his intentions are good (his white shirt), but his actions are starting to paint him in a negative light that he's thinking is maybe warranted. All he knows is that he wants to go back to how things were before that giant rift in their friendship was created, so for now he is stuck deciding between being that Devil responsible for hurting the ones he loves and that Angel that will save everyone from their misery.
TLDR: In The Comeback Show performance of Angel or Devil, The divide between Angel and Devil in the choreo shows who is actively trying to save and help the members (Angel) vs who feels responsible for the suffering (Devil) while their clothing colour indicates who is actually causing pain (Black/Red), and who would do anything to ensure it ends (White). But ultimately, they are all doing the wrong thing and causing more pain by working through it on their own. I've been saying it for a long time and I'll say it again: their ending will show how these 5 boys came Together under One Dream to build a better Tomorrow.

The Doom’s Night confirmed for me what we see in Runaway Japanese mv that Yeonjun slips between boundaries, Kai has no boundaries and Soobin bends/breaks boundaries (the contract with the cat, the adult mirror vision and the mirror portal vision respectively).
And in Blue Hour Japanese mv Soobin and Kai are always together when magic happens. Could Soobin maybe use Kai’s magic, hence the angel wings at the end and the two blue patronas birds that are Kai’s when the “witches” attack Kai and Soobin? We do not see Soobin’s patronas during the “witches” attack, did not see his item as an adult and his pain (ears) was already there as a child. On the other hand, Soobin sings the angel parts in Angel or Devil, so maybe he is indeed an angel…
So many questions and so many comebacks and years still until we will know (if ever)… That is the true Chaos.
this video absolutely blew my mind!! i havent been engaged with the lore much recently bc life got pretty busy, but seeing how the theories have evolved and improved, and seeing all the new connections is so so wonderful. keep up the good work, i think we are in for an exciting new comeback and tons more information. this is a VERY obscure piece of lore, but there is a videogame called Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark, considered Forgotten Realms canon, in which a person called the Knower of Names was trapped in a layer of the nine hells called Cania, which is notable for being intensely cold and completely frozen over. The knower of names knew the true name of everything in existence but was bound by the gods to only reveal them for a price. I doubt bighit knows about any of that but its a neat coincidence. there are probably a few other mentions of true names in forgotten realms canon, but i guess nothing in the rulebooks for actual 5e play. i recommend checking the forgotten realms wiki as well as the candlekeep forums if you need more d&d lore info. great video as always!! thank you for everything you do for the fandom

Hey bestie! i play d&d and i think that you should note that in the game the dungeon master is in control, they can grant wishes give or take powers and sometimes even make the party turn against each other my theory is that the cat is playing the role of the dm and the members of txt are at their mercy, and the cat is only giving certain members certain powers or information (true or false) and that is what is making them distrust each other
Paladins have a mount, and at high levels they can get a mythical mount, like a Pegasus or in this case, a unicorn. It’s possible his knight has the kitsune, although that could be a special rule of their campaign that they all get a familiar. Rangers have animal companions, which could’ve also been upgraded by their special rule. Some sorcerers, the ones that follow a path like wizards, get familiars.
Once again, the DM can create special rules for a particular campaign, and I think they all got special familiars because of that.

Beomgyu's child spirit animal feels like a care bear,
Yeonjun's is obviously a fox and Taehyun's Quetzalcoatl resembles a squirrel
For Soobin idk I didn't see his spirit animals but rabbits have large ears dough which is also his quirk or punishment ig

i think i kinda believe in your theory about how the 'witches' are taehyun and soobin. Cause i have this favorite netflix show called Dark and its about dimensions, time travelling and stuff, and in the show one of the protagonist made someone trigger all the happenings for the past 3 seasons so that the bad things will end or the loop to be exact. So in txt's case, it might be true that someone in the group might've bring taehyun and soobin to disguised as witches to trigger everything. It's such an interesting theory!

I think it's a bit late but I just notice that in the first pre-chorus of Can't You See Me it was Soobin who say 'guhaejwo' or Save Me in English and in the second pre-chorus (I don't know if it's suppose to be pre-chorus but it's the word they say before going to the chorus) Yeonjun is the one who say 'Save Me'. What if it's connected to their contract with the cat, Soobin already got saved by the "Moa" so maybe Yeonjun's next?

if u look closely in the beginning of TDN its rain dark purple rain which basically means "a deep longing or desire that will likely not be met" which to me means that in that eight role they needed or DESIRED the star song to defeat the dragon but It didn't happen cause they could not remember it so the desire to stop the dragon at that moment wasn't met
and purple rain also could mean *THE END OF THE WORLD* signifying that them not having the stars song would cause the end of the world

I just read a theory by @Isla Newman about the possibility of Yeonjun knowing the Cat's "True Name" which is why the cat is trying to get leverage, but what if the secret Huening didn't know he had was that he knew the Cat's name? 1). The blue-green eyed cat; greater power; abraxas = their agency aka BHM-Hybe kkkkk
They made contract with it, right? It represents both good & evil, depends on how you wanna see them...? And the cat always watch over them, keep finding them all over the place, know their true name? Gosh 😂
2). The dragon = idk, it represents obstacles.. it'd might change in the future, but one thing came to my mind for now is covid-19 🤭 Bcs the dragon suddenly crashed the stadium and made a "CHAOS"...... And we can't have concert now...... Everyone? 😂
3). The ghost = MOA

Soobin and Taehyun may have come from a future where in they either failed to defeat the dragon or haven't yet, but finally have a better plan to win the next time around. So they go back to before the dragon arrives to prepare the group, to trigger them to use their powers and trigger yeonjun into borrowing the cat's power.

Looking back the guys in the black coats had a huge advantage over the boys because none of the boys had the powers they had when they were kids. The black coats could've easily struck the boys down down but they didn't. And after Yeonjun got the power from the cat... they just left?? Which can lead us to assume that whatever their goal was, their intention was never to k;ll. they definitely almost to severely injured them though 😂

That’s what I was thinking, but maybe the reason why they did it was to get more powers from the cat(?) instead of like borrowing but then again that could be why to since it’s always affecting him (Yeonjun) in some way, but I’m not really sure and also maybe the reason why Taehyun and Soobin (if it is them) came back from the future was because they were trying to warn them which is why Soobin sees the future along with Taehyun (as we see in the eternally mv) Soobin sees what happens to the members and the stage that got destroyed, while Taehyun sees Yeonjun dying. I’m not sure if it is like DnD but if so Huening Kai’s charisma is maxed out so that would mean he has deception, performance, persuasion, and he could also possibly have investigation, though I’m not to sure about the last one but anyways since he has deception he is pretty good at hiding things so I have a feeling that he could know something about what’s happening too but he hides it from everyone in order to protect them, if you look at all of their cards they all have something maxed out. I also think that maybe Huening Kai still remembers about the dragon and stuff but I’m not to sure.

I think the reason why we don't see their reflection during the particular scene where Yeonjun opens the door and records the members is cause it's a memory and in memory, you don't tend to remember every detail especially if that isn't your main focus, but we see it later on while Kai and Yeonjun are very near the mirror and where you eyes tend to focus both on them and their reflection.

I was rewatching the 2019 MMA performance and I noticed in the VR the book yeonjun finds that does the appearing and disappearing rewriting thing that tom riddle's diary does and that he has a emblem thingy that they use to summon a magic circle and the weird emblem thing has never been brought up again so idk if that will ever be explain or I am just being clowned but i feel that may come back in the future.
The theory of their pains forming a dragon made me think of them fighting themselves. It’s like the dragon is actually them but it’s the side of them that they want to hide and don’t want to accept cuz they view their “pains” as something monstrous so they chose to run away from it instead of accepting that it’s part of them. I think this theory is tied up to Can’t We Just Leave The Monster Alive. Their weapons/magic didn’t really defeat the dragon but when they started singing it did just like in the lyrics of CWJLTMA where it says that they’ll just throw away their weapons, give up their stats, and leave the monster alive. Also maybe that’s why the “ghost” got rid of their pain because the “ghost”(MOAs) made them feel accepted that made them accept their pains as well.

LIKE 5:53 or what we know as blue hour was already hinted in Beomgyu's part, and TAEHYUN LITERALLY CONTROLS TIME. When TAEHYUN's part after Yeonjun's iconic pump part, the members literally FROZE and TAEHYUN casts a magic and they moved again. Then at TAEHYUN'S part (again now on the second verse after BEOMGYU'S part now) the members FROZE again and TYUN casts a spell, they move, AGAIN.
But here's another, the part of TAEHYUN and YEONJUN before the last chorus, YEONJUN also made the frozen members move with a snap of his fingers, and then TAEHYUN controlled their movements with his hands.
Then SOOBIN go in a portal that is made by the members(PRE-CHORUS), and it kind of makes me think of that metal things in doom's night, like maybe they are broken portals probably leading to other stories/universes.

Well, in the No Rules choreography there is a moment (specifically at 1:16) where Soobin and Kai do something that can be interpreted as a mirror, and Yeonjun and Beomgyu dance as reflections of each other. Hello sister I am and always have been a huge fan of you. Even though I know I am late but the true name thingy does exists quite prominently in Egyptian mythology. If you know a person's true name its means that you can quite literally control them since its the gives the listener the name of a piece of the soul the named person (in our case we suspect yeonjun). In egyptian and sumerian mythology you will find this alot. So if we technically assume if yeonjun did make a deal with the odd eyed cat and revealed his true name to it, it means the cat could do anything including controlling, influencing or even taking Yeonjun soul and his memories of his life and his living consciousness from Yeonjun without his consent. Beomgyu being the healer tries to help taehyun since hes probably not THAT possessed as soobin ( considering how lonely soobin is in eternity era), but beomgyu is partly possessed and so he tries to suffocate taehyun and eradicate the possession.

*4.)* There is this REALLY famous Kidsbook in Germany called "Laura Stern". Everyone knows this here. It even has its own show and movies. The plot is about a 7 year old girl called Laura. One night she looks out of the window watching a star fall to earth. She emidiatly runs out of the house and saves the star, patching one of his spikes back with a plaster. Ever since then she and the Star are good friends and whenever she is in trouble due to bullies or other things the Star appears and helps her with his magic. Also i think in the last movie there was this plot where she and her little brother Tommy went to Monsterland because 5 evil monsters (note 5) stole her brothers dog plush. At the end with the help of the stars magic they defeated their fears and the 5 malicious Monsters.~

sorry just a brain dump from my thoughts after reaching the end of the True Name section:
So, the boys on magic island have "codes names" to disguise their "true names" right? like when playing an RPG, you dont put your username as your actual name, you use something like "Potatofries32."
Magic island is the boys' escape from reality, like Laina theorised, it is an online place, digital, or having something to do with a "higher connection" like computers and electronics. while on magic island the boys use their code names. also stemming from Laina's DnD theory, since the boys are playing the game, there needs to be a dungeon master. somebody who controls the outcome of the said "game." this person, could be the blue and green eyed entity. this entity (or imma just call it the cat) is the dungeon master, or ruler of the realm. it controls the outcome of their experience, therefore, it is all knowing.
Somewhere along the way, when they boys saw the outcome of their life on magic island (i.e. yeonjun dying, and everything going crazy) they (or rather heugning kai) turn back time, and go to the game master for help.
they want the cheat codes, or the "Doom" code, as seen on the photocard, to make sure nobody gets hurt or dies. however, they had to trade their "true names" over to the dungeon master to ensure that they all survive. however, i did a quick google search on true names and the first item that popped up on the list gave this explination of true names:
"A was a creature's hidden name that, rather than just acting as a label, metaphysically truly belonged to that creature. All beings had true names, though most of these were unknown, especially to mere mortals. Knowing a creature's true name could grant power over it. There were several different accounts of true names and how they functioned in this sense."

the cat, according to this explination, with the boys' true names, now has power over their lives, or over, the game.
But, like Laina said, if all players of the game have true names, then so does the cat.
This ties back as well to, "the name they need to remember, the name they need to call out."
Could this be referring to their own names? the stars' name?
Or maybe, to truly escape the grasp of the cat's control, do they need to discover its name?
