Can you make a planting coral video? People are trying to remake coral reefs in Seychelles, Hawaii, and many more! Coral reefs are very important and are being killed by climate change and humans indirectly affecting the reefs.
Do the kelp have to hit a minimum size before they start reproducing or will the tiny ones start releasing spores their 1st spring? Regardless, I think the "green gravel" method would maximize the returns if you artificially raised the kelp to a point where they are mature enough that you can drop them just before their 1st spawn. That way even if most of the dropped kelp doesn't thrive for whatever reason, they'll at least have a chance to dump their spores within a month or two of being dropped. That way it's like a "double drop"! Drop 1 with the "green gravel" and drop 2 of spores from the kelp! You also get an 'added benefit' since each kelp drops _multiple_ spores. This means you could possible end up with 3x the amount of kelp you dropped or more‼️ 🤝💯
More important even, the ENTIRE food chain relies on the ocean in some form or another. We call it the green planet, but really it's a blue one. We have so much work to do.
There is much to do and the work has started in many places around the world. This kind of thinking and doing is the seed that will grow and succeed! 🙂

Love the content you guys make, I watch every single video. Hope you can eventually expand to other places and other continents. I live in Brazil and would love to see a project in my country! Of course there is the Amazon Rainforest and it is very important that we preserve it, but there are other incredible biomes and enviroments here. I've spent a lot of time researching and reading about kelp forest restoration, even went to a conference nearby last year. This is SO inspiring to see. And I'm so glad to see this is working. Hope you can scale this up soon and establish more kelp forests 💪

So nice to see that you're getting the results you hoped for. And so cool seeing known places. I did some kayaking around Peniche last summer. Keep up with the good work!
HURRAY! It worked!!!!!🎉 oh, i really hope this method pays off and other sites can be planned! So happy to have been part of that. Great job guys! I will be waiting on updates later to see the hopeful evolution of this tiny baby forest!! ❤
Glorious! You mentioned at the end the kelp was being eaten - the baby kelp is vulnerable. I have seen a project fail in Berlin where they were re-planting reeds and grasses in large ponds, and it was impossible to protect them from being eaten. Even metal cages couldn't keep out the ducks and swans. Have you thought about large cages or areas with chicken wire to protect the kelp grow into maturity?
I was so happy to see the little baby kelps growing from those rocks! Hopefully this proves to be a reliable way to do it and you can get to the mass production stage with this one. Would love to see the sprinkling of kelp stones all around the world for improving the ocean conservation even just a little bit. Keeps up the good work guys!!
im thrilled to see the encouraging results in this update! it was mentioned in the first segment that focusing on the perennial would help for monitoring the trial of the gravel method at greater scale. i would be interested in seeing the health of a patch of both perennial and annual varieties together compared with a patch with only perennials. obviously this is outside of the intended scope of this trial but i would imagine that the quick growing annuals would give cover and time to the slower progressing perennials to establish themselves. keep up the great work and thanks for this update
Thank you from the San Francisco Bay Area, where we’re keenly aware of the need to preserve our coastal kelp forests. I’m very impressed with your approach, particularly sharing your failures so that other teams don’t waste time on non-viable projects.
Wow, it's lovely to see this project coming along so nicely. It's very encouraging. I've heard of kelp farming in a general sense, but restoring the natural beds of kelp forests certainly seems a much harder thing to sustain.
Love the project, I believe that because of early pressures (heat and herbivore damage) young kelp will be growing even more resilient than it would in standard environment which will probably ensure more healthy and resilient kelp forests
If we care about the survival and prosperity of our loved ones in a thriving world, these things should be a fundamental pillar of our societies. In the same way that we respect and take for granted institutions like education, medical, law enforcement and courts, I hope to see the day that stewardship of the environment takes equal economic and social prominence. Your work is wonderful and inspiring. Thank you for what you do, and I hope you keep expanding. I wonder if, in my lifetime, I will see a Mossy-Earth-style industry pop up in my area. I would absolutely jump at the chance.
Thank you so much for the support! It is truly what makes all of this work possible! Seriously huge thank you for the kind words and for being a member :) - Cheers, Duarte
If you can buy a small town or naberhood and line the sides of roads with native flowers bushes succulents trees and mybe evon increase the amount of soil they have. Also mybe fill the yards with native edible plants of any kind from barriers fruits and vegetables oh and plant it all from seed to see the effects. Why well to see how it effects how much water is uses how fast they grow and see how much it reduces heat and energy demand on the grid.
I did not expect to tear up over succesful kelp propagation tonight but here I am. I'm so happy for all the ecosystems that have a chance to flourish thanks to all these knowledgeable and passionate people.

Hi Hannah! We are also really excited to see where things go from here. We will let you know regardless of how things go! - Cheers, Duarte
So nice to see that you're getting the results you hoped for. And so cool seeing known places. I did some kayaking around Peniche last summer. Keep up with the good work!
How much we love Mossy Earth.
Its impossible to describe
This is remarkable 👏 Amazing project, team and video. Thank you ❤🎉👏✨️🙌
Thank you Seb! - Cheers, Duarte
The quality of the videos continues to improve. Loving these 15 minute videos that cover a fair bit of updates
This makes me so happy to see! Thank you guys for doing this!
This is fantastic! Thank you for all of your hard work.
Thank you Emily! - Cheers, Duarte
Kelp afforestation is one of my favorite stories to see take place. Great job!
Kelp forests was the first video that got me hooked all those many months ago. Your take on "mistakes" is so refreshing!
I have been waiting for this project's update for ages, Thank you very much! keep it up😍
Absolutely thrilled to see this happening!! Great blessings on you for your care and excellent efforts!!
You are doing amazing work with this project, please keep up this great work and help the sea come back.
im thrilled to see the encouraging results in this update! it was mentioned in the first segment that focusing on the perennial would help for monitoring the trial of the gravel method at greater scale. i would be interested in seeing the health of a patch of both perennial and annual varieties together compared with a patch with only perennials. obviously this is outside of the intended scope of this trial but i would imagine that the quick growing annuals would give cover and time to the slower progressing perennials to establish themselves.
keep up the great work and thanks for this update
Thank you from the San Francisco Bay Area, where we’re keenly aware of the need to preserve our coastal kelp forests.
I’m very impressed with your approach, particularly sharing your failures so that other teams don’t waste time on non-viable projects.
Wow, it's lovely to see this project coming along so nicely. It's very encouraging.
I've heard of kelp farming in a general sense, but restoring the natural beds of kelp forests certainly seems a much harder thing to sustain.
Thank you all for your really great work ❤ So happy about the first results and we hope it will be turned out as good as possible.
The best RUclips channel, keep up the great work
Thank you Max! That means a lot to me and the whole team :) - Cheers, Duarte
Awesome news. This is one of my favourite projects of Mossy earth. You guys rock!. Literally, in this case.😁
Love the project, I believe that because of early pressures (heat and herbivore damage) young kelp will be growing even more resilient than it would in standard environment which will probably ensure more healthy and resilient kelp forests
Lets hope that indeed it does! We will keep you posted :) - Cheers, Duarte
Those projects are like therapy for me. Restore the hope in humanity.
The enthusiastic reaction of the team to the new baby kelp on the project reefs says it all! Clearly, you love what you do -- and so do we!
These just get more and more fulfilling the longer I keep up with you guys. Thank you!
Please please keep doing this amazing work to save our planet
If we care about the survival and prosperity of our loved ones in a thriving world, these things should be a fundamental pillar of our societies. In the same way that we respect and take for granted institutions like education, medical, law enforcement and courts, I hope to see the day that stewardship of the environment takes equal economic and social prominence. Your work is wonderful and inspiring.
Thank you for what you do, and I hope you keep expanding. I wonder if, in my lifetime, I will see a Mossy-Earth-style industry pop up in my area. I would absolutely jump at the chance.
Lovely seeing all of the hard work yielding great results :)
I LOVE KELP AND KELP FOREST
very cool... love to see these little kelp plants grow 🙂
Awesome work! Giving hope to this environmentalist! Think im gonna up my membership donations as this team and community are god damn fantastic!

Such great work! Thank you for making a difference.
Glad you enjoyed the project and the video! Thank you for the support :) - Cheers, Duarte
I’m looking forward to the next update. Hoping that the results are even better! How exciting!
The Happy Noises Underwater brought tears to my eyes I'm so happy it worked out great job Mossy Earth love you guys.
I did not expect to tear up over succesful kelp propagation tonight but here I am. I'm so happy for all the ecosystems that have a chance to flourish thanks to all these knowledgeable and passionate people.
