5:04 Those crisp, aquatic splashes of vivid colours
Why isnt this guy more famous. Probably because of Pogorelich. Both great pianists in their own fields. Still there is a purity in Dang thai Son's playing, so natural and organic that it is simply an act of nature, like the waves carresing the sea shores, or the bleak midwinter snow painting a landscape white. I want to be there, in the place that is created under his fingertips, and therefore I will stay a bit...
Isak Hungnes what a beautiful expression. That's also what I feel about his playing, so pure and flowing like a river hidden in the forest.
Yes it is a natural flowing spring
Isak, you said exactly what I feel. Pure, undisturbed nature... Dang TS is also an excellent teacher, he passed this skill on to his student JJ Jun Li Bui - I can hear it in his interpretations of Chopin (JJ Jun Li Bui won the 6th prize in the 18th Chopin Competition - for me an exceptional, talented 17-year-old pianist -student of Dang Thai Son for about 6 years)
"Probably because of Pogorelich" lol nice joke
Pure is such a great way to describe his playing. I think it has to do with his pedaling technique. Each note is so perfectly articulated and not overly dramatized.
One of the very best version of Sonatine! I heard Dang Thai Son before, he is a first class pianist!
Finally..an ADULT pianist who plays this musically, and maturely, instead of young kids who play this fast to "show off"!
Not to say I don’t like this interpretation, but listen to Ravel playing it, it has to be fast, or at least Ravel wanted it that way
Thinking everybody plays fast to show off is a pretty linear way of thinking
Modéré: 0:00
Movement de Menuet: 4:22
Animé: 7:22
Thank you
🙏
2:20 those notes that crash so clearly! Oooooooo so good to the ears. Love the clarity. Fabulous interpretation overall I must say.
bout that
Finally a not rushed first movement. Bravo!
Riccardo Fermani *hahhahhaahahhhahhahhhahaaahaha yes, he plays with awesomeness!! Don’t you think??*
@Ricchardo Fermani finally someone understands me!!!!!
Omg yesssss. I can’t stand the first movement rushed. If that’s what Ravel intended, well... I don’t like it. When people play it like that it sounds like it’s being “fast forwarded” to me.
@@hannah-ruthmiller6917 I have Durand's edition of the score which published the very forst edition of it in 1905...and they say in the preface that Ravel insisted on the 1st movement NOT being rushed... I guess even at his time people were rushing it
@@hannah-ruthmiller6917... Which I never understood as Ravel notated "moderate" tempo! Not allegretto, certainly not allegro as many play it
Love this rendition so much, This pianist is a national treasure.
International treasure.
He played so well with the finger technic in the first movement his thumbs are so quick !
He plays Mouvement de menuet so playfully I've never heard it this joyful!!
Thật tuyệt vời! những âm thanh mê hoặc dưới đôi bàn tay thần kì...
My new go-to interpretation of this piece
Dang son
Lol
Lol
Have I not enough time to relisten and listen again, wish I could dedicate that,.
This piece a copycat of life forms alive, living, thriving.
Love it
Dang, since I heard you express every single note naturally calm and uniquely... my heart is yours ... ❤
❤..............................
Best version I’ve heard. Most versions on RUclips are just too fast and emotionless.
Xinyuan Huang I totally agree with you. His rendition is fabulous.
Xinyuan Huang don’t you agree?
Yes, his rendition is brilliant in capturing the essence of Ravel's ethereal melodies, played with virtuoso perfection.
David Lang I know. He plays with awesomeness

She plays it well too
A great pianist and teacher and yet so humble. One of the best intrepetations I've heard of this Sonatine.
I agree with you 100% :)
My son plays this breathtaking Sonatine, and also beautifully, though this one by Dang Thai Son is a gorgeous version. Yes crisp, great tempo, not rushed, almost perfect.
Great performance as always! Bravo, Dang Thai Son!!
Many many times I heard this playing but always amazed, impressed and feeling like meditating. Thanks for sharing!
That second movement is pure magic
Gems and flower buds bursting from Magician's fingers! Rất đẹp!!!
What a beautiful expression:)
TheFlyingscope nice expression!
Complex things executed with such ease and precision... A true Master at work :)
Such a special performance. Limpid tone, unrushed, so glad to hear it
Một sự tinh tế thật nhẹ nhàng uyển chuyển và đầy lãng mạn
Wow bravo❤❤❤❤❤

Didn't know this artist. Fantastic.
Lucio Becker one of the 1st place winner of the chopin competition
Best
I don't usually hear Asian pianists because is well know how mechanical in general they're. But this is the proof that I was wrong, and you can perfectly find hidden gems of pianists.
If not the best, one of the best interpretations of Ravel's Sonatine. Thank you so much for sharing.
Yas
he's from the Russian school...
Racist
He also inherits from his mother who was a French educated piano teacher. He was born in this culture.
Took my breath away
숨이 멎는것 같았다
Bravo M Dang Thai Son! Merci.
This is my favorite modern performance.
Right up there with Cortot🎉❤
The music has special resonances with Asian music. In part due to historical events in France. Pascal Roget's recording has always been foremost in my mind but this is a truly enjoyable interpretation. Bookmarked!
0:15 someone coughed im loving it. Bloody loving it
看到在台灣先按讚!
