  • Cecil B. DeMille's 1923 silent film, "The Ten Commandments," required thousands of actors, crew, and animals along with an immense set that was too expensive to move. DeMille ordered it to be buried so that rival filmmakers couldn't use it. Now, archaeologists have unearthed part of one of the 21 sphinxes he left behind. Alex Wagner reports.

imagine if Hollywood imposed a voluntary two year hiatus from CGI and had a 5 million dollar prize for the best 'cast of thousands' epic film made during that time. the stunt could be billed as a Hollywood employment stimulus after the shutdown.

It's too bad they didn't preserve the set back in the day and perhaps make it an attraction. What's interesting to note is the more stylized face of the Sphinx. They did not copy the ones produced thousands of years ago in Egypt. They made them a little bit more realistic and a little bit ominous looking. they were not friendly looking faces on the Sphinx. I'm certain this was done to influence the movie goers and impress them that the Egyptians were the bad guys. Which makes it more of a fiction movie. In my opinion it would have been nicer to have them replicate the Sphinx of ancient Egypt. it would have made the movie more realistic. But then again I'm not Cecil b demilles lol

Cool. They aren't in as good condition as the real Egyptian ones which are now probably hundreds of years old as they were made out of stone fyi, but still a great great find

The Great Sphinx of Egypt was built approximately 4,500 years ago (about 2,500 BC).

The 12,000 year old theory is just that . . . . a theory. This per Wikipedia: __ "Zahi Hawass, former Egyptian minister of state for antiquities affairs and secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, was asked in an interview on the PBS series NOVA if it was possible that a more ancient civilization might have sculpted the Sphinx. Hawass replied: "Of course it is not possible for one reason …. No single artifact, no single inscription, or pottery, or anything has been found until now, in any place to predate the Egyptian civilization more than 5,000 years ago." __ See link: __ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphinx_water_erosion_hypothesis __ This was conveniently not mentioned in the RUclips video referenced above.

Zawi Hawass, hahaha, he's known for his lies and Wikipedia is always right, right... All megalithic structures around the globe show clear similarities in how they were build. Later civilizations just renovated those sites, the evidence is in your face if you would look farther than the mainstream media.

Lies, still trying to cover up the truth about Kemet Egypt being in America, not in the so called Egypt that you call Egypt.
Also, the original swarthy black people are the Kemet Egyptians. Ase'
