    Can i do this at home myself? I had an ingrown toenail surgery and have one thread over surgery site, i dont want to go to nurses because they treated my wound very roughly, opening the surgery wound when cleaning the site.

    I can speak on wound dehiscence. I jumped off of a runaway horse and gouged my hand out on a bunch of rocks so bad that it exposed bone back in February. The PA decided to superglue my hand closed since the muscle and fascia swelled to cover my bone back up & I just needed something to close the skin. He said regular stitches would hurt and would cause me to be unable to move my hand very much so I said “yeah, superglue is good.” He glued my hand together and let it dry before putting on the bandaid.
    Come the next day when I was supposed to remove my bandaid I had a bit of a problem: my body rejected the superglue and this sticky yellow serum was all over my hand just absolutely sealing the bandaid to my open wound again. I had to put on a brave face and just fucking rip that shit off and I nearly puked, but I had to get the bandaid off so I wouldn’t get an infection. Unfortunately it meant my superglue was no longer holding my hand together and I had to then get creative to close my hand back up myself since I didn’t feel like spending $800 again, so I grabbed some duct tape and started taping my hand closed for the next month.
    It finally healed up but I can feel a giant lump where I definitely healed by tertiary intention… oopsie. 😂

    Would be useful if you had a video on removing continuous sutures as well.

    • @tangofoxtrot40
      @tangofoxtrot40 3 месяца назад

      Dunno if you still need this but for continuous, top tip is to grab the knot and cut the suture that is directly opposite ok the other side of the wound edge. That will make sure you dont have any end passing through the suture track. It also exposes another end for you to grab onto to keep repeating the same steps

    Hey, I have a question regarding making an incision........ When you start to cut there would obviously be blood coming out... Right? How to make a proper incision and without making a bloody mess?

    • @SurgicalTeaching
      @SurgicalTeaching 2 года назад +4

      Hi, typically after making the skin incision we would use diathermy to cut through the deeper tissue and also cauterise any small bleeding vessels

    • @romansingla
      @romansingla 2 года назад +1

      @@SurgicalTeaching I'm sorry I don't get it....... Well, let's assume you got a patient who has a deep cut on "let's say" his forearm and it is constantly bleeding.... Wt will u do? I guess you'll perform a suture. But you can't perform a suture while it's bleeding.

    • @SurgicalTeaching
      @SurgicalTeaching 2 года назад +4

      It depends....if the cut is from a trauma then if it's really deep and bleeding excessively then they may require surgery to stop the bleeding (either tying the bleeding vessel or cauterising the vessels) and then suture the wound closed. If the "cut" is from surgery- then during the operation we use diathermy (an instrument which uses electrical energy to burn/seal bleeding vessels) to make sure that all bleeding has stopped before we then suture the wound closed. We have a video about Diathermy on our website www.surgicalteaching.com if you wanted to learn more.
      Hope that helps
