Thinking of buying a caddy and doing my own conversion, but was wondering about the task of fitting side windows and voila! Up pops your brilliant video! Very informative, Thank You so much.
Hi, a nice simple and easy to follow how to video, I was going to buy a maxi life for the windows but having to remove the seats and anker point, was a lot of work, seeing how you fitted the windows I will be getting a maxi, look forward to more videos 👍🏻
I just bought the glass for my caddy and a nibbler after watching your video. Did you find the glass handed for each side? My instructions were rather basic without pictures.
@@Georgous92 Amazing, the nibbler makes the job alot easier! Yeah the glass should be handed for each side. I would have a dry fit of the windows up against the side of the van before fitting. As some of the glass doesn't have the best shape
Hi, do you have a link for the tool you guys used to cut out the metal? I'm looking to install a window in my caddy too and this video made it look easy :) thanks
What would make the windows of a Volkswagen Caddy be lowered half way in a locked car! Happened 2 times so far. Nothing showed on video. This is not a joke! Please help me if you know anything about this...🥺❣
Hi Steve, we made it a false window because we are going to have full height cabinets on that side of the van that will cover the window anyway. It ends up looking better this way as you cant see the back of the cabinets on sunny days when you can see through the window.
Yeah this one was an ex British Gas one. The rear window covering on ours was some sort of vinyl sticker. We just used a sharp blade to peel up an edge on it then used a heat gun to slowly peel it back. It actually came off a lot easier than we thought! We’re now getting them tinted to match the others
@@cruisycampers4749 Thanks a lot for the reply! I would probably say mine is vinyl too to be honest. When you peeled it off did it leave a nice edge/all peel off completely? My only concern is that the glass is larger than the opening in the panel and goes past the inner door skin (beyond reach). So I wasn't sure if the vinyl was applied prior to the glass being fitted thus not being able to remove it fully and being left with a rough edge. Hope that makes sense! Also, is the glass clear once removed? Thanks again for your help!! :)
@@danielpalmer8807 Hi Dan, yeah ours peeled of super easy and didn't leave any residue or vinyl behind. It is slightly tucked behind as you say but when you peel it off it also pulls the bits tucked behind off easily too. Yeah ours was clear behind, were now going to get it tinted. No worries!
Hi Dale, you paint the panel black before hand because the tinted glass is still somewhat see-through. So this stops you from being able to see the bodywork behind the window....
Coming from a windscreen fitter of almost 30 years I’m super impressed at your work there
Well done 👏🏼

Thanks! Great to know
Thanks for making the video it’s very well put together!
Thanks guys!

Well done on attempting that yourselves
Excellent, I’m doing this to my ex BG caddy this summer! Thanks!
Good video, well done, I now have some tips to do mine
I’m glad we could help!
well done great video.
Sehr gut Arbeit

Hi there, it was an air powered nibbler, I believe we purchased ours from screwfix
Probably a bit late now but you can also get nibblers that fit onto a drill.
Great vid. I am looking to put windows in my Peugeot partner van.
Can you tell me where you bought the windows from.
Cheers.
Steve
Hi Steve, we got them from just kampers
@@cruisycampers4749 Thanks for the reply. Are they daylight looking out or dark tinted please.
@@steveruddell2730 They look slightly tinted looking out. Check out our latest video to see what they look like
Brilliant job, can I ask does this affect insurance , do you need to inform them?
Thanks, yeah as with any modifications then you have to let your insurance know. We always insure ours as conversion in process
It’s going from van(commercial vehicle) to campervan. Two different types of insurance. Yeah you’d have to tell them
It’s big con really.

Long pressing the lock or unlock button can cause this or a faulty remote that is constantly sending a signal out.
Great video. Did your rear door windows already come see through, or did you have to change them?
Thanks, the windows had a blackout film on them when we bought it. We peeled this off and then got them tinted
Why didn't you make them all window instead of one false one?
Hi Steve, we made it a false window because we are going to have full height cabinets on that side of the van that will cover the window anyway. It ends up looking better this way as you cant see the back of the cabinets on sunny days when you can see through the window.
Why put false window in. What’s wrong with paint, save money

Whst numpty paints a panel then puts glass straight over it?
