    I watched as Matt's Wrecker was built from the ground up with blood, sweat, and mountain dew.
    Then here we see Matt's instant reaction to push the envelope, destroying the drivetrain, just to find its weakest link.
    Thanks for your unique angle of the action. That's a very cool experience for all involved.

      @Databyter Год назад +6

      I'm sure he was disappointed, but it isn't a failure. I agree. This is just working out the kinks. It's just unfortunate that he didn't have more wheeling time before KOH or this would have already happened. I'm sure a bigger spline as I heard mentioned on another vid will solve the problem. It was amazing seeing how easily it went up that first obstacle with those huge tires. At least power and torque will not be a problem, and it looks pretty flexible Just need to make the drive train a bit more bullet proof. Databyter

    Matt joked, "If I have to have my broken wrecker towed, what I most don't want is for PAUL to be the one to haul me out!" And then of course, who showed up in his own huge rock-crawler to tow him out --- PAULLLLL!! So Matt had to suffer the apparent humiliation of having his chief offroading rival be the one to rescue him with his OWN competing rig! (And in reality, of course, Matt and Paul are actually long-term best buddies who merely share a friendly good-natured "brotherly type" rivalry --- they both regularly hang out with each other's families, help each other to work on their 4X4s, and so on. Matt smilingly admitted later that he couldn't have thought of anyone else besides Paul whom he'd have more wanted to haul him out --- "Paul's an off-the-scale awesome guy --- I couldn't ask for a better best friend!") :D :D :D

    Matt;s offroad wrecker had over inflated tires for some of those lines, and he should know better. The only thing I can figure is that he thought the size of those would make up for it. And they do a lot, but in some situations nothing can replace tire deformation on rocks. His tires were way to hard, especially since they were new. Maybe he was worred about breaking a bead, I can't tell if they are beadlocked yet. But either way he could have easily lowered them down more than they were. Then again, the hard work exposed a weakness in his driveline, so perhaps it was meant to be. I think he needs to go up in spline size from what I've heard, to the next size up, on the connection to the transfer box. Thanks for the vid, nice to see all these different perspectives of Hammer Town and meet your channel. Matt's 1 for 1 on rescues. I understand he got that Toyota Rally car Rescued after it popped a joint. And then he was pulled out. Databyter

    • @Databyter
      @Databyter Год назад

      @@wildtimbrown If I came off as whining , it was unintentional. I'm a big fan of Matt's Rig, and Matt's Channel, and Matt himself. Just talking about the rig. I think it has the potential to be super capable, as we can already see. I just felt added traction from less pressured tires would have helped, and I don't think there's one in ten on this page that would disagree with that after watching the vid. It's likely that he had other fish to fry later and didn't want to have to repressurize and figured it was enough for that trail, and it was, until his shaft broke. As far as my comments. It's a free Country. I'm not whining. Matt doesn't need you defending comments that are not an attack. So calm down. I'm not hating or criticising. Just thinking outloud. If it came across as criticism of Matt's project, it wasn't intended to be. I think it's an awesome rig and I've watched dozens of hours of video seeing it built up from the frame. I'm thinking about buying a ticket for the Offroad Rescue Games in March. Might as well, I got fired a few months ago and have nothing be free time now. My rig is a Subaru Wilderness not a rock crawler and I'm not ashamed of it. It's a nice compromise to get me to a lot of offroad areas, as well as different areas of the Country, even if I can't do the obstacles. But I can hike and fish and film and enjoyu enjoy the trek. I've got 10" clearance with no lift. So far that's been enough to get to a lot of places. I'm thinking of a trip to the tip of Alaska, I was going to do it on a bike, but I'm not getting any younger and this vehicle is probably the better choice. So that's my rig. Databyter

      @@BuiltDifferentGarage I owned a Trucking Company plus two Full Service Truck Stops as well been an off roader for well over 60 years. And If I had spent the money on that One Truck that he has, I would have bought a Real Army Ambulance and built it up. I was off Roading and Hill Climbing long before most of you including Matt and owned the Pony Express Hill Climbs as well as the Rock quarry on the Missouri River where It was very extreme for Events. I am not a Virgin at this type of games. I was fifth place July 4, 1962 in the Pike Peak Races in a Dodge Polaras.I traveled the Racing Circuit for nearly twenty years. Pitiful? Just making an Honest remark.. I Love the fun and Danger, Even at 83 years of age, It is sad people today are no longer allowed to express their personal opinions. There are many things I do enjoy about Matt's sites. I loved Cerro Gordo. I even offered several Thousands of Dollars in real Antiques for the Museum there and never received one reply or Return phone call. I do not watch it anymore. I was an Entertainer in several such Places and even offered to Volunteer being a Character Entertainer only to be ignored. I have worked with many Great named Entertainers. And we were all good friends.

      I simply asked a question in response to your statement. I didn’t question you personally or your experiences. I also said nothing about you being pitiful.

      @@BuiltDifferentGarage LMAO! Yes, a Lot. I honestly enjoyed the Hammer. It brought back Memories of the late 1950's when I took a trip from Missouri to California in a 1949 Ford Convertible. I traveled the Back roads a lot and believe me, they were in many ways like the Hammer in a Stock Ford. Take and jump in my 1901 Oldsmobile Reproduction and travel from California to Missouri and back on a 16 Horse Briggs Stratton Engine with just old fashion Motorcycle Harley drum manual Brakes going down some of even the paved Highways in the Mountains or running along the side of Interstate 80 into Salt Lake City and then on to Interstate 15 South to where you can leave the area on Interstate 80 again. Can you imagine driving a wooden car with no steering wheel and very little Brakes traveling at 22 MPH in all that Traffic? That Hammer was nothing. I did that honoring our American Fallen Warriors as well as the Wounded Warriors and I paid all of my own expenses not asking anyone for a cent. Every cent that was donated went into self addressed Envelopes and was mailed direct to the Organizations.
      It was reported that my trip drew over $100,000.00 in Donations. I slept out on the Ground under my car while my wife slept in my following Pickup just incase I broke down. My Chain Broke and I had to use the top wire of a Hog Wire Fence to make a Master Link to drive it into a Harley Davidson Dealer for a Link, and they had to go to a Hardware to get one that fit I broke two Belts and lost one tire. Lucky I was carrying a spare tire and Inner tubes' and used the Air Horn Air Pump to air the tire up out on the rad. I was honored by not only our Congressman, But also President Obama for over sixty continuous years of serving our Veterans. Yes, I am one very Pitiful Person. I have donated far more than that truck cost towards helping others and donating to Hysterical Museums over my life time and hardly anyone cares.

    Did he mention the team he hired to build this! Nope! Meaning Matt, I’m saying the mechanical designer, or engineer, he says he built this, I don’t think so! Might have bn his idea, then he paid a team to put this together! I like the channel, but just saying ppl don’t believe everything you see

      Matt has several employees who are paid to work on a variety of projects and help with off-road vehicle retrievals. So it may be more accurate to say that Matt's employees worked on the wrecker project and others according to Matt's instructions than to suggest that they did only the wrecker.

      Your just saying your a negative person jealous of someones project. Point of fact he has never claimed to be the only one to build it, and has heaped praise of those that helped, and should you have watched his videos as much as you claim to like his channel you would have known this.

      Him and his team built it. You can go watch the videos on his channel. Of course he did get some outside help, but very little.
