Watched this last night on Amazon prime video. Jade outdid herself on this one; this is so much better than brotherhood and reconfirms what I have always known, Blossom Chukwujekwu is a fantastic actor…
I loveeeeeeeeeeee everything about this film, it was really reminiscent of old Nollywood with it's portrayal of real life events. Every single actor killed it in their roles. I was hooked from start to finish, easily one of my favorite Nigerian films. I love that in as much as we couldn't get a back story for Eric, we were still able to get an idea behind his motivation for his kidnapping. How he constantly justifies his actions by saying "any man that can not feed his family is not a real man", the joke he made in the beginning about how Nigeria is hell itself. How he always states that he wants "his money back" because of the way the politicians have continued to steal money from the masses. Honestly I can go on and on, Jade Osiberu did what needed to be done with this one!👏
Gbam! She indeed did what needed to be done. The film was solid and so were the characters and the performances. Greed and heartlessness are such terrible things. Thanks for watching Victoria. 👊🏾
I agree. It was a great note to kick off 2023 with in terms of Nollywood films at the cinema. I’m surprised more noise isn’t being made about it. Such a brilliant film. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I watched The Trade on Prime Video today and here are some of my initial thoughts: 1. I thought I would see a spoiler filled review on your channel with more info on what you liked vs did not like but don’t see one. 2. Casting, acting, soundtrack were awesome 3. I loved this movie for one thing - the actors stayed in character throughout and looked and played the part. Eric for example spoke in Igbo and pidgin throughout - no fancy English slipping through. The language spoken by all the characters matched their backgrounds throughout unlike in Brotherhood where some fancy English was slipping through for some of the touts/thieves. 4. I lied - a second thing I loved was that some of the actors looked “different”. What I mean by that is this - in most films when an actor is playing a role he or she sometimes comes across as the actor rather than the character. A good example is RMD and many others. I see them even when they are acting multiple roles as themselves rather than the character. However that wasn’t the case with this movie - Blossom, Stan, Nengi all looked so different I had to do double takes to be sure. I didn’t even know it was Nengi for sure until the credits rolled. Kudos for that. Not sure if the film being completed in 2018 was a contributing factor here. 5. I thought the story dragged on for too long. It felt like there was a lot of filler in the story to get us to the end. I haven’t read much about the full Evans story to know what was being replicated here vs what artistic licenses were being taken but I felt it could have been tighter.
It’s on Amazon Prime video (primevideo.com). You can sign up and enjoy a 7 day free trial period or you can ask a friend or loved one who has a Prime Video account to ummm... ‘help you out’. 😉 But if you’re in Nigeria a monthly subscription to Prime Video is just N2,300.
This movie seem like it took your breath away, I can wait for it to hit the streaming platforms so I can do justice to it as well. Thanks for the awesome and amazing review, your energy was truly second to none here. What an amazing way to kick the year off bruh. HAPPY NEW YEAR and SUBSCRIBERS FILLED ONE TOO. Lots of love always.
😆 Thank youuuu! I really did enjoy the film. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thanks for checking up on me while I was away too. Wishing you and yours an awesome 2023. 🥂
The extent to which I loved this movie😭😭😭. I ran to the cinema on Saturday to watch it. Tito, I knew I was determined to watched this movie when, I sat in the cinema after there was a fire outbreak in the cinema. I was alone in the Cinema and I had to give it a standing ovation. I just want us to recognize that Jade Osiberu and Action Genre (Always going to be banger). The story, the sound and music, the character development, the acting. I am still relieving the movie and I am sooo glad. I know this is it’s last week in the cinema but I really want everyone to see the movie (hopefully Prime Video soon). The cast??👏🏾👏🏾. In all this is such a lovely movie.
Wowww! So glad you enjoyed it as much as I did Ebube. Mehnnn, you're hardcore o. There was a fire at the cinema and you still stayed to finish the movie? 😱 Damn! You're the MVP. 🏆 It really was a lovely movie and they got a lot of things right. I hope it gets lots of nominations come award season. I have a new review up by the way. It has mild spoilers though so maybe you might want to watch it first before watching my review.
@@titoabumere Ohhh I have that movie kn my list to watch this weekend. I will go to the cinema and then come and watch your review. However knowing your trend, having mild spoilers mean they might not have gotten something right. However fingers crossed.
