How to describe Babayan's sound? In recital, I've heard the most thunderous sonority imaginable, but with his characteristic golden tone. Here, he is crystalline, bell-like. Sokolov is the only living pianist pianist I'd put in his category; Moravec and Kapell are the only others.
Arvo Part is extremely great composer. I realize it again and again.
Exquisite playing by one of the GREAT pianists of our time. Bravo, Sergei!
Sergei makes everything divine..
He just played this as an encore tonight after his wonderful performance of the Tchaikovsky 1st Concerto with the Toronto Symphony:
Incredible beautiful interpretation.
Unlike any other Babayan will show us from 1:15 a glimpse of the promised land.

Don't forget Volodos. And Gilels.
The term golden tone is usually associated with emil gilels not babayan. Gilels has the most exquisite sound.
amazing!!!
Extremely underrated!
Love
WOW!!..good spring back from the cell phone distraction too ( wherever they are -- am sure it is now non functional )(;
1:13-1:20 is so beautiful
That fucking ringtone at the end of the piece is a shame. People must be more responsible. But very beautiful interpretation
Did Babayan leave out the first 1:30 or so ?
New age drivel and a ringtone, what’s not to like!
I thought that for the longest time about Part but eventually came around.
