Not quite Peter's car is the only one that took that rout in the whole competition On the other side, the computer only computes the time that the car will spend the least, meaning that even though Peter's car might be more fuel efficient if we put it as a real car, it won't be faster on that rout It's like driving on a longer freeway or a shorter county road.
You know what would be dope? Put a little camera on the mouse that connects to a vr head set . Just your remote control car and you have to work your way out of a maze you have never seen...
The route is correct. You can get more speed on long straightaways, so it takes that into account. The shortest path isn't always the fastest since changing direction takes time.
I just found out that people have these types of competitions/contests... I know, so far, about the maze competition and the line following racetrack thing, but I really want to know if there are any other types of competitions and how do I join/find them..
You may learn the Japan contest information on the website www.ntf.or.jp/mouse/micromouse2017/index_EN.html, and there is also information for foreigners to join the contest.
Maze solvers, A* (maybe), PID controllers, path builders (relying on ecoders) and maybe some accelerometers for slipping control (but I'm not sure if these are allowed for the micromouse contests). Maybe I'm wrong, but this is not AI, this is way cooler.
I am curious what algorithm they were using. It looks like the car was trying to turn right whenever possible (dfs), but it also skipped some right turns and went straight instead in some situations.
I think its because the destination is 2x2 area (All the times), so if you take that in account, you don't have to search all the ways, you can skip sometimes.
@@cguzmanxx my thought also. Given the noise there aren't any gears between the motors and the wheels. Still, they have amazing PID to drive this fast !
You could also cheat on it.. by making uploading path walkthrough in it.. no one will notice. Example. Someone should took the image of the map and visualize the possible solution already and upload it to your car...
They're actually doing what they love. Plus in order to design machines like these you need to be extremely innovative and smart to pull this off I mean just look at 3:13 Like goddamn.
3:13 this part looks so unreal. You usually see this stuff in cartoons
If you think that is crazy, take a look at the 1st place run from 2016:

Peter's car actually took a better route I think, his was just slightly slower.
Utsunomiya san's car probably took velocity into consideration and therefore took the longer route with less turns

I have thought about this like for my whole coding life (i'm not a coder anymore). Hope to see it comes out as a game kit.
Woah ! I have seen the 2nd place video and that to me was fast. Now this is super fast, only if he chose a different route.

Play it slow speed, this shit knows how to drift.
Can anyone describe me how RUclips recommendation works ?
It might be some deep learned algorithm by now, so nobody really knows how it works, only knowing how in principle it has learned.

It looks to be following some kind of backtracking algorithm
Depth first search
What does he do to the robot after it finishes a round. He rubs it on something or applies? And why does he do it?
Looks like he uses a lint remover to take any dust or hair off the tires. This would be important before the speed run.

how the hell can such a tiny motor provide that much speed?

It's power to weight ratio; the thing doesn't weigh anything.
