Coincidance... 432 was TYCO's offering number of their Burlington Northern E-Unit... perhaps an homage that this video is 4 minutes and 32 seconds... Let's dance, eh? John
Jordan, as a fan of the Espee, you must be aware of the "Golden State" a train I model. My favorite is the final year of operation '67-'68. Espee & Rock Island agreed to power run throughs to the coasts. (Lake Michigan being the Eastern coast) Yes, I have a Rock E8A leading, followed by two Espee units in the bloody nose scheme, an E9A, and an E7B. My problem is that I haven't been able to find a Rock Island E-8A in the 1967 "wings scheme." This was the maroon "dip" scheme with a bold yellow nose that had wings. I would like one of those Rock Island E8s in this scheme for my Golden State. I think you would too. As I read in a book; If Espee units can come to Chicago, then Rock Island units can go to the coast (LAUPT)! I currently run my Golden State with a custom painted life-like Rock Island E7-A in the lead, which is solid maroon (no wings) except for the logos and minimal striping that only extends to the door. While this is Era accurate, I would prefer a "wings" E8A! A photo of this combination is on a book cover in color "Chicago Passenger Terminals," I believe. It shows 3 E units leaving LaSalle Street Station in the Rock Island E8A, Espee E9A and E7B as I've been describing. Bold and Beautiful - especially if they were Rapido's! Of course, I guess I'm also hoping for a Rapido Espee E7B in solid dark gray with numbers in lettering gray. Wishing you the best for the season, Jason. Take care.
I enquired about getting a steel caboose, but the joy of living in New Zealand meant that it was a bit costly 😮 Ah, the joys of living on the other side of consumer paradise 😄
@rapidotrains Well, on one hand these runs are costing me a fortune. I should be thankful, though. Batting a 1000 on a list I once sent over, so far. Consequently I have faith.
On the fence about getting either athearn genesis Rio grande caboose or the Rapido version. Can you guys help describe the car more? For the same price athearn is DCC/sound but I prefer the Rapido body style 🤷♂️
Both are nice models of very different prototypes. The Athearn version was built starting in 1966 while ours were built mainly in the 1940s through 1951. It's mostly up to you which car you prefer for your layout!
Putting an order down for the bicentennial Rock Island and might get a few others down the road. Please do SP 6051 next run!
So…who won? The astronaut or the robot with the bucket on his head?
C'mon man...that astronaut was going full Shogun on ole buckethead...hell yeah he won. 🤠👍
Well the astronaut got all the shots in!
Do you have the Pool Noodles in different colors?
