Hi, David, thanks for sharing another video, I use small prawn as bait, or live small crabs, they works quit well. For catching a legal size bream is hard job. See u next video. Thanks.
Surprised there are fish in there had a look first time I was there and reckoned it looked no good... Do salmon and mullet run up the creek at all? Never seen the mouth open, not that I've been there much.
Hi mate, the fishing up in the creek can be quite good sometimes, there are lots of small bream also a few larger ones around 30cm at the biggest. I have also caught lots of mullet near where I walk in and the first time I fished in there I had been fishing off the beach and decided to walk up the creek and have a fish because I had some live worms and I ended up catching 2 nice bream also 4 small salmon around 600gams I was surprised and they were great fighters in there on my light gear. The mouth does open up when we have a lot of rain but most of the time its land locked and the fish get very brackish and not nice to eat. Thanks for watching and commenting
Hi JoramD Downes, thats nice to hear mate. I would say it is possible i have caught small 600gm salmon in there and lots of mullet as well as bream. It is a nice place to have a fish in the winter time lots of snakes in the summer time. The creek is non tidal so it fills up when its blocked to the ocean and drains out when the water breaks through to the ocean so don't forget your wellies because it can be quite muddy.
G'day belal, the best times for this creek is Autumn, winter time the fishing in there can be good fun especially when you get to know the place, the water level will be high or low depending whether it running through to the sea. don't forget you wellies, rubber boots it can be muddy. Also summertime stay away to many snakes. Cheers David
Thanks dat boi thats nice to hear, ok mullet will respond to just soaked slices of bread mushed up and gradually hand thrown into the water where you are fishing also some not to soaked for your burley spring. Better still is to add tuna oil, (mullet love anything oily_ pilchards, tuna) and mix thoroughly and one step more is to add curry powder and garlic powder. then your burley is getting deadly serious. hope you find that helpful.
Hi dat boy just sending this message about the message you sent me on my bait pumping Bass Yabbies. Your message is in my notifications but not displayed under the video, I clicked on it on my phone notifications and it disappeared, I may have deleted it by mistake. Sorry if I did, you can send it again if you like. Yes I did notice she had eggs maybe should have pointed them out and I kept calling her a boy whoops. I'm also going to do a video on making burley next you may find it interesting. All the best David
Gday dat boi, sorry but I can't believe your message has disappeared again under the video, its still in my notifications like before. Any way Burley for yellow fin whiting, I break up small pieces of worm and throw out in fishing area also cockle shells crushed, cut up prawns mixed into general burley like the one I made is good that creates interest for every thing. King George whiting I use pilchard in a spring land based, and pilchard and mushed squid for bait also throw out a few cockles if I have them to spare (getting expensive) in a boat a burley pot on the bottom with pilchards prawn shells what I've saved and squid heads are good. hope thats helpful mate Merry Christmas.
Hi David, Love your videos mate. I’ve been fishing waitpinga beach for years and have always passed that river but wasn’t sure if we are aloud to fish it. Do you need any permission? Cheers
Hi Trae, thank you and happy to hear you enjoy my videos and no you don't need permission I have never been told of. Driving out from Waitpinga on your left hand side where the sand junes end and the swampy land starts there is a small place where you can park your car on the side of the road and of you go fishing or you can walk on the beach and fish the other bank, it can be very muddy if the water has drained so don't forget the wellies. its a interesting place to fish non tidal, also this is the best time to fish too many snakes in the summer time.
a bream i caught near perry reserve was really black and had tinges of dark green. He stunk with an ammonia smell, had strong odor in his flesh too. Caught one in westlakes and he was silver and tasted awesome. theres def something not right with the water quality in the onk.
Hi mate, firstly love the name I see a lot of that in my job being a maggot breeder. Bream can be a bit hit and miss with there flavour and smell coming out of the onk sometimes its from pollution and also how long they have been in there for, if you manage to catch a silver one like you did they can be yummy. I decided a while ago I would only eat a bream caught out of the sea. In this video its Waitpinga creek the bream in there smell and taste yuk I've tried eating once and never again. All the best mate tight lines and thank you for watching.
Hi David, great channel - really great content, I am just wondering what waders you are using here? Looks like a decent pair that will fit the bill for me, cheers!
Hi Simonc, thanks mate. The waders are called thigh high waders, the pair I have are made by Shakespeare and are very good when you need something a bit higher than wellies and don't really need to be wearing full waders. thanks for watching and commenting Cheers David
Thanks Peter, no mate Waitpinga creek there can be some very good Bream fishing in there, some times you have to move around to find them, but there can be a lot and good fun. Around the middle is a good area and don't forget your wellies it can be very muddy. And thanks for the sub!
Gday Peter theres not much information about the creek. Have a look at google earth, and I mention it on my first fishing waitpinga beach with bait near the beginning.
HI peter have a look at my fishing Waitpinga beach video part 1 and not far into I say the place. Its a really nice place to fish, before it breaks through to the ocean the water level rises upto a grassy bank, when it breaks through to the sea the water level drops and it is muddy up to half way up so don't forget the wellies but good fishing sometimes. if you go where I am up river the bank is grass.
Wow that bit at the end with your mobile phone was like a time warp back to the 70s ha ha ha. Great fishing. I like eating Bream. just over legal size is best. the larger ones just don't taste as good and they are best left for breeding. Never caught a bream in the Coorong. so there's a challenge. Cheers mate enjoyed it.
Hi Martin. they do look very similar don't they, but not the same. the bream over hear have teeth and we can use bait to fish for them or we can use lures. The ones in the video we call black bream. hope your doing well mate and your shoulder is working well. I fell over last week broke my fishing rod did damage in my wrist and did some tendents in my shoulder bugger, but I will heel. Tight lines mate.
Hi Bachtiar, that particular spot has what I imagine a plain mud bottom up to the right of me it gets shallower and there is structure, Rocks. The river or creek can get quite a lot of debree washed down when it rains heavily. Just down from me there is some rock visible structure, looks nice but the rest can be quite barron but good fishing.
Gday! Yes over here its kind of the opposite to England most fishos only use maggots in salt water, the main species being Australian herring also known as Tommy ruff and a fish called Garfish. I do have a couple of videos showing them species. Also in south Australia we call maggots Gents, Iv'e never known why I don't think any one does. Cheers David.
Hello fello maggot breeder. They are little eating machines aren't they. Also a very good bait world wide, thank you for your comment squirrel, and for subscribing mate. tight line to you. Cheers David
