  • Welcome (back) to the channel!
In this video i will show 5! bags.
    🎒 1 Lowe alpine Saracen 120-30 Litre
    🎒 1 Lowe alpine Sting 80 Litre
🎒 2 ARWY Sting? 80 Litre (i still call these "fake" today 🤣)
🎒 +1 Bonus Pack! A British, NI Patrol Pack 30 Litre
As requested in comments on previous video's.
The focus will be mostly on what differences (and complaints) there were between the Lowe Alpine Sting, and the cheaper version from ARWY, at the time they were issued.
Often this bag gets named the "Stingray", witch it's not, i even make the same mistake, but the Lowe alpine one is labelled: "Sting"
The latest versions of the ARWY 80 and 120 Litre bag are not bad bags at all, as they stayed in service quite a while, also since they are simply cheaper, and the Lowe alpine Stings slowly phased out (in soldiers their private collections mostly)
Please comment with any additional info (or corrections)
As a bonus bag i will show a British: "Northern Ireland 30 Litre Patrol Pack"
Thanks for tuning in, i hope you enjoy the video!
    🖖😎
(V2? Yes i forgot about a min of footage, i have done an extra edit, re-exported it, and re-uploaded it again, so version 2 😉)

I love the Lowe Alpine bag I may look for one here in the United States. Great video very thoroughly presented.

Yeah its very durable bag considering they phased those out almost 20 years ago.
I wish you good luck with finding one, lately i got offered a video from south Korea with an ARWY one, so they are all over the world, but a Lowe Alpine might be harder to find.
      Thanks for watching Q

Just got a LOWE Alpine Sting. Best rucksack ever.
Feels like I'm not carrying anything at all. Feels like I'm just heavier.
    It's comfortable it's sturdy, it's perfect.

Mooie video man ! Groet Martin.

Interesting. Weirdly I think I got one with the real Lowe Alpine top cover, but the rucksack itself is a ARWY one, because the MOLLE is in DPM while the real Lowe Alpine has it in OD.

yes that's odd, someone took the time to fix it up though, says something about it to
the best way to look for what bag you have is the material used, those buttons with the Alpine logos, and the sizes where you adjust the back size, are numbered, my guess you already found out now ;)
Thanks for watching and your comment

I think ARWY is made from polyester, vs nylon. It is inferior quality material. Most of modern military bags are 500D or 1000D nylon.

i'm really happy i have a Lowe Alpine, they are so much tougher, and the oldest, after all they got replaced by the ARWY bags,
Thanks for watching the video :)

I think the brand names of the nylon material is cordura or denier. Cordura is very popular material for quality backpacks. I’ve only seen one other material as tough and it is another type of nylon woven material I don’t know the trade name but it was used on the us military ALICE packs.

The interior coating can be repaired by applying a new coat of the waterproofing. It wears off from friction. You can definitely tell the difference in a cheaply done coating doesn’t last as long. In the us military and in civilian backpacking it is common practice to use a pack liner if you are headed in to wet weather or going to ford a water crossing. This is basically approximately 6mil thick trash can liner. Works good to keep things dry especially if you twist the opening tightly.

My favorites are the medium Alice pack and the kelty redwing.
