Tuba Skinny has come along way since then and I would wager they probably have more videos on RUclips than Elvis and the Beatles combined. Great job guys and gals and here's to 11 more great years...and many more! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😄👍
I remember a version of this song getting airtime on local FM rock stations back in the early 1970s performed by Maria Muldaur. I love this version by Tuba Skinny much more, it's a lot more soulful. Erica's vocals are very powerful. Just amazing.
The current New Orleans traditional scene is inspiring. These guys, Meschiya Lake, Smoking Time Jazz Club, Aurora Nealand, the Palmetto Bug Stompers, and the New Orleans Cotton Mouth Kings are all pretty amazing.
First time I ever heard this funny, funky tune it was sung by Maria (Midnight at the Oasis) Muldaur, and the Jim Kweskin Jug Band..like a zillion years ago.
This is extremely early Tuba Skinny footage from the year the band was launched. You gotta love Shaye's response when a guy adds to the tip jar. In the years since this was filmed Shaye and Erika have gotten more canny about clothing. Pretty sure that's Barnabus, and Todd is on tuba. The young woman with the fiddle is nobody I recognize. The guy on guitar is Kiowa Wells.
I didn't realize TS went back that far. Nice rendition of the song made popular by Maria Muldaur (who I think has performed it with the band more recently). Too bad about people who walk through the shot or converse near the mic.
damn she sings this song way better than the original artist blu lu barker from 1946. she has a 20's jazzy voice but yet so modern and so much better it's fucken amazing i can't believe what i am hearing if this is what jazz always sounds like i would listen to it daily but the problem is it doesn't so i don't listen to it but damn this chick is the best ive hurd so far and she's white amagine that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sousaphone has a broad bell that faces above the player’s head and projects forward whereas the bell in tuba is smaller and doesn’t extend as far as the player’s head.
Absolutely wonderful, lovely brilliant adorable real natural talented artists ""Erica is a wonderful, lovely, brilliant, adorable, real born natural talent, she's raw sexy mean and moody, she as poise, presence "the whole group have whoomph
We stumbled upon them as their music echoed through Old Town at the foot of the cliffs. It wasn’t until a couple years later when we saw them performing nearby in Rhinebeck, NY that we realized they were “local,” and in fact Erika had gone to the same school as my wife.
@@MorganJohnston Thank you very much for your explanation. I am a European fan of that kind of music, unfortunately the European Festivals have become rather commercialized in recent years. So to me this original band and their genuine music is a kind of treasure. Like it very much !
I have day dreams . . . Erika and Shay are playing with the band just for me after we all had a big fattening dinner with lots of cocktails and I’m lounging on the back of a riverboat and people want to give me $5,000 a ticket and I dream on . . .

Wow, this is looking back into the early days of Tuba Skinny. Tuba Skinny has reset the bar for this genre. No one can even come close to Tuba Skinny.

Maria's nice, but she just doesn't have what Erika has.
Erika is becoming a legend in singing the blues of the 21st century, that is at the early years.
Sweet. Glad to see young people playing this style.
Nothing but respect for these guys.
The absolute best playing today: Shaye and Erika just knock me out ,!

Interesting to see this earlier work. More melodic with much less counterpoint.

"she's white". so what? does that mean she picked her parents well?

A recording tuba. Made to push the sound forward, originally made for early record-cutting studios.
Sousaphone has a broad bell that faces above the player’s head and projects forward whereas the bell in tuba is smaller and doesn’t extend as far as the player’s head.
Hurray ,open cornet, fine
sublime!!!!
Spectacular!
What fun!
Is that a young Barnabus?

Is that some type of speaker the fiddle player has? I think this is my favorite of theirs/
Small battery powered amp. She's plugged in for a small amount of volume.
Youngled, fhey's very wonderfull
These guys are goofballs and nutbuckets, I love this band so much I want to marry it!
This was apparently before they could afford for everyone to have a chair or a tv tray for tips
Gorgeous Erika.
Tuba Skinny, before Tuba Skinny.
Wish I Were There.
Bravo!!
Can’t make out all the lyrics - middle of the song - can you help ?
It’s a cover of Maria Muldaur’s song: genius.com/Maria-muldaur-dont-you-make-me-high-dont-you-feel-my-leg-lyrics
what kind of tuba is that?
A Sousaphone
still fine ! 😊♥️💯🙌
Loose Marbles Mk.II.Just as good the LMs!

Is this San Sebastian in Spain ??
Yup!
@@MorganJohnston Thank you, I thought there must be another San Sebastian somewhere in the South of the US or Mexico.

I'm getting fat off of Tuba Skinny
Erika Lewis in her flapper years.

i bet Shaye sees music charts in her head
I used to think that Maria Muldare’s cover was the best.
ITS A SMALL SPEAKER....GEEZ...

Too bad The Donald wasn't listening.
