Thank you for all the optimization suggestions! Clearly you can squeeze more frames out of these machines with Sodium and other tools. But again I hope this video demonstrates how computing horsepower increases model to model :)
You should try using prism and downloading the fabulously optimized mod. It should give WAY better frames. On my m1 Mac mini I got up to 780fps no shaders and 160fps with shaders.
The tradition continues! I'm using the M4 mini as a dedicated server for a really heavy Minecraft modpack without telling people it's the Mac mini and people are blown away when I tell them it's this little $599 computer. The world gently fades in fully generated instead of abrupt popping in like on my older mini which had the job previously :D
I was present for the dedicated RAM question at Minecon. That was a repressed memory I forgot I had. Thank you for this. Think I’m opting for the 14” M4 MAX for my next MacBook!
I have an unbinned M4 Pro 14 inch model and it gets around 700 fps at 16 chunk render distance 1920x1200 (around 1080p) no shaders, using sodium and a few other optimisation mods. I think no shaders at that resolution would have been a better test for Minecraft since, at least in my experience, people who play Minecraft aren’t usually playing for high quality and don’t realise how it affects performance, they just see the FPS number and compare it to their computer. If possible could you test again with similar settings to what I had? I’d be really curious to see how the max chip performs.
For future tests pls use lunar client, and fabric/sodium instead of optifine which doesn’t help with performance anymore. Also, change memory allocated from 2GB to at least 3.5 or even 4GB. Also want to see how good the game performs at 1440p instead of just 4K.
Agreed. Sodium is the better way to go now, and 4k is a luxury that most people won’t use. 1440 or 1080 would’ve been nice to see because it’s what most people will use. P.S. I can run shaders on my M1 Pro 16" MBP using 1440 and sodium + iris and get around 140fps which is SO much better than the performance in this video
Hey! Could you please make a video comparing the $1599 M4 vs $1999 M4 Pro in Minecraft on the laptop screen with shaders and without shaders? Thanks in advance.
@@islandnard I am not being sarcastic, I use my MacBook Air M2 to play Minecraft and I’m in need of an upgrade because of the shaders and mods I use. The only thing I was being sarcastic about was saying “Minecwaft”

Good to know! But I hope this was helpful in showing off the performance of these chips :)
@@NoahHerman it was very! You’re one of the only people to do a Minecraft video and I’m getting one soon so it was nice to see how it performs.
Hey just saying, for Mac Vulkan Mod is better then Sodium, with sodium u get around 800fps with Sodium, and over 1000 with Vulkan.
@@dead_seb3423What about lunar client?
Thank for this video ❤❤🎉🎉
I bet the $550 Mac mini is the cheapest way to get good performance Minecraft

A test we didn't ask for but deserved❤
I think I would even play minecraft in 1080p oder maybe 1440p and the framterates should be really playable, even with shaders :).
yeah for sure!
Thank you!! I wonder why almost anyone plays minecraft on their gaming tests
My m4 pro runs it perfectly. Was pleasantly surprised
oh buddy you opened pandora's box with Mac Minecraft performance good luck in the trenches
good video though I straight up haven't seen anyone else do this LOL
😂😂
changing the time of day to it being a slightly different time of day to talk about performance was... something.. a choice
You can try it with Iris + Sodium mods instead of Optifine which will give you alot more fps
next time i'll def do this
@@NoahHermanfor reference my M2 base mac mini gets 60+ fps at 1080p with Unbound shaders on high using iris+sodium+fabric in the prism launcher

Expanding the RAM allocation can make a big difference, I use 8GB on vanilla version because why not I have 32 total
I'm taking notes haha.l Thank you for the suggestion!

please make a video for GTA V as well, with recommendation of what method to run it.
Sorry, but 24 fps is not playable.

What are you using to run Minecraft?
Optifine

Thank you, I will use this information to make an informed purchase of which MacBook Pro spec I should I buy to play Minecwaft on. :)
are you being sarcastic?

Considering that Max 16/40 doubles the GPU cores from Pro 14/20 it doesn't change a lot in performance.
seems like the M4 Pro is the sweet spot :)
what monitor brand you're using?
BenQ :)
Im really impressed how bad it is when you consider that a $1000 laptop pc will have 150+ fps with maxed settings, render distance and shaders
Except that it won't, what 1000$ pc will run Minecraft with this shaders at 4k ag 150fps?
@ rtx 4050 with amd 8840hs.
