It's a shame that the audience was covered in three layers of glue before her performance and they couldn't move even a little bit.

How much of this was a backing track? I don't see a keyboard and it sounds like she was singing along with a track.

It is music by Bad Omens so I could assume they're using that music

So the way her small set up works on opening tours for economical purposes is like this. She has her live bass, live guitar, (occasionally I’ve seen drum I can’t remember if it’s on this tour), then she has her tracks because she would need a lot of different pieces to even make the arrangements of the songs sound even remotely similar to what her songs sound like so it’s much easier and cheaper to use tracks with live modifications especially with her voice. I’ve seen it’s been different for her tours. Sometimes she has someone there to constantly be giving her the proper voice filters and stuff to sound close to her recorded songs ie doubles, distortion, tuning, etc. but on something smaller like this it’s common for her to use a track vocal so you get her live vocal supported by the effects of the original track so that she can create the sonic atmospheres we know and love from poppy while still being economical. I think she’s saving for a huge headliner tour after the new record, that’s why she’s been opening a lot and only having a smaller production.

Guys, she singing. I don't know what to tell you. Yes she does have backing tracks at times, but Poppy's inflections are simply not the same as the recordings. She's even a touch pitchy at times.
But yeah, as the other poster alluded to. There's a lot of layers to Poppy's music . This is not 3 power chord pop punk. And she does a lot of vocal gymnastics. So a back track is the most practical at times.
You'd have to be a fairly avid poppy fan to tell the difference because she's a very good singer. So good that people don't believe Poppy's singing. She is.
Yeah, she lipsynced back in her hyperpop days. That was a long time ago at this point.
Check out the full performance on youtube. Her Mansfield, MA show on 8/18.
Some of her V.A.N verses were almost a kind of girly trap delivery. Probably unintentional. She was just having fun.
BTW, Poppy's current touring guitarist is AWESOME! he was doing like George lynch mr scary overtones on V.A.N.
And yes, Poppy is a one woman business. She obviously doesn't have "Swifty money". So it pays to be economical. Especially as an opening act.
