I love KK! She’s got serious skills and will fit into Geno’s system very well. If everyone stays healthy, I see UConn playing a much more up-tempo game with a lot of pressure D. In reading the comments, I think some UConn fans are forgetting that there’s another PG returning to the line up with the initials PB. I think KK will be playing alongside Paige and Nika early in the season to learn plays, spacing, and get a feel for her teammates. The same will go for Ashlynn Shade. Geno likes to mix in rookies with vets and will rarely play the rookies together unless it’s later in the season and they’ve proved themselves, or it’s a blowout win and they’re getting late game minutes. And I know the Huskies have some bigs in Amari, Ice, and Jana El Alfy, but if they’re not in running shape, they’ll lose a lot of playing time to a smaller, faster line-up that will include Aubrey and Aaliyah at the forward spots while rotating a lot of guards. I hope Ayanna improves over the summer and Ice gets healthy because UConn will need some depth up front. I predict UConn will also pick up some frontcourt depth in the transfer portal. With Dorka leaving and questions remaining re: unproven skills/talent from most of the frontcourt players on the bench, I think there will be some very talented forwards/centers on other teams that aren’t happy with their current situations and would love to play for a team that should be playing for another National Championship in 2024.

The only disappoinment in my opinion is Amari. I feel the game moves too fast for her. But the team supports her and she enjoys being at UCONN. There will always be a player or two that understands their only reason for being on the team is to help in practice or emergency situations. One of my favorite players was walk on Polly Pulido. Only played in the last 3 minutes and if they were up by 30 points. But after sticking it out. Her time to shine was in the last 15 seconds of the NCAA Championship game against Syracuse in 2016. Hitting a jumper from the corner and seeing her teammates go crazy jumping up and down.

@@arthur-ri4zo I love Polly’s moment! I love how the team went nuts when she hit that last minute 3! She got in the championship score box which was a perfect culmination to her career. Her backstory couldn’t have been written any better, too! Answering the call from Stewie’s social media call out for practice squad players only to have her moment in the spotlight with a 3 from the corner in her last game usually only gets scripted in Hollywood.
And I totally agree with you re: Amari. I love her spirit and her enthusiasm but she always seems to be a step behind. She’s always reacting instead of anticipating. One of my favorite lines from Hoosiers is, “Don’t get caught watching the paint dry.” I feel Amari watches the paint dry much too often. I know Geno and his staff had such high hopes for her, especially since she committed so early. I keep hoping that something will click inside of her head and she’ll have that “Aha!” moment. I want to write Geno and tell him to go work out with the track team’s sprint coach. Or go work out with any coach and coaches a sport where players are required to have quick feet. Maybe she should work with the goalies coach of the soccer team or take up tennis and learn some reflex skills at the net. At least try something to sharpen her skills and reaction times. Maybe even take up boxing!

Right! I agree with you. Truth be told, I’m jogging my memory trying to think if I’ve ever seen a point guard in the women’s game with such a complete and dominant game. I’ve played and coached A LOT of basketball and i can’t recall any PG in the women’s game with the speed and handle combination she has. Not to mention her shooting capabilities. Yeah. This one is GAME CHANGING. Whew!🔥🔥

Another UCONN fan who can't wait to see KK in Storrs! That quickness is jaw-dropping. Hard to believe, but I think she could actually give Paige a run for her money. The battle for guard minutes is gonna be real -- Paige, KK, Azzi, Nika, Ashlynn, Caroline, I wouldn't be shocked if come tournament time in March '24, there will be times when KK is at the point and Paige is playing the 2.

KK will avg 10-12 min a game this season. Nika is not going anywhere nor should she. UConn has a championship team in Paige, Azzi, Nika, Edwards and Caroline along with Aubrey. The bench should be stronger, and if the core players can stay healthy no one should play more than 25 min a game. It will be similar to SC last year when 12 players averaged 10 or more.
