- To keep these endangered Parakeets you have to have a permit from DoC, Pat and his wife Shirley allowed me to go into the aviary to film them so I could get close up video of this rare bird, what a sight flocks of these must have made when the first Europeans arrived in the early 19th century, then to just about wipe them out over the next century with the help of introduced predators,

So beautiful! My family adopted a kakariki a year ago & he’s so intelligent! Unfortunately, he hit his eye against the edge of the door about 5 months ago and is blind in one eye. Kiwi is still as active as ever!
These are the sweetest birds ever. Had one as a pet once and she was so affectionate and playful, just loved her.

Good choice for first birds. Can be noisy and very messy( most birds are)
Make sure you have a big cage and plenty of toys. They like to eat corn on the cob, blueberries and Apple.
Make sure you put a dish for them to have a bath in. Not too deep though 👍

What beautiful little parrots, hopefully they don't become a vulnerable species like the kea and kakapo parrots, I'm in Australia and I have a soft spot for them and the other, look after them, don't let them become another statistic

i've got 3 of them here, 2 females and 1 male, hoping to breed them too. but in belgium you don't need a permit to keep them.

Bad owner? Try to find a home that can provide all your parrots needs, so he won't be frustrated and bitey?
