I am so sorry for the loss of your Grandma. I hope that she was comfortable, and surrounded by love at the time of her passing. Thank you for your bravery at sharing your emotions over her loss. Your cover is lovely, and it is nice to see it aging!
Thank you so much ❤ She was definitely in good company, and comfortable. She was 94, and right up until the very end was she active, productive, energetic and full of her zest for life. She was incredible. We should all be so lucky!
My grandmother died in 1990. She was such a great person, so generous and giving. She had a long, but a sad and difficult life, gave birth to 9 children, most of whom abandoned her towards the end, and it broke her heart. And for that reason, I often feel sad when I think about her. I also have a lot of beautiful things she gave me…I was the eldest granddaughter so I have pretty much everything! Things that belonged to her mother….and antique hand fans from Spain and jewelry boxes and her engagement ring and really cool furniture/jewelry my grandfather picked up in his world travels….these things mean so much to me, and I will pass them along to my nieces, I hope they will appreciate them too.
Thanks so much for sharing the progression of your notebook cover shading over time. It will be unique to you and your life which is pretty cool! Love that you had a quiet place to spent time journaling, drinking some tea, and processing your love for your grandmother.
Wonderful journal and an amazing journey you have shared with it. I am so sorry for your loss. It’s like the sun dropping out of the sky. Here’s to the warm moments you’ve shared; those cherished memories. Thanks for sharing with us. Big Hugs from New England.
I’m so sorry on the loss of your grandmother. Thank you for sharing 9:29 your special relationship with her. I hope all of the gifts around your house that she gave you bring good memories of her. Sending many hugs your way. ❤❤❤❤
I am so deeply sorry for your tremendous loss. I wish you strength and patience as you move through this difficult time. And thank you for the review. 💙💙💙
About the penloop: maybe you can take a Leuchtturm penloop, glue it on a piece of cardboard, slide the cardboard in the Backpocket and pull the penloop trough the little hole in the backflap
I'm so sorry for your loss. Your grandma sounds like she made a wonderful impression. Keep all of these treasures close to your heart. I'm sure she is smiling down on you from heaven. Prayers of comfort for you and your family.
Gosh, so much more moving a video than I expected for a video about journals! Condolences on your loss. She evidently made a significant impact on your life. Cherish your memories.
What a true gift to have had a bond and love like that with your grandmother . My deepest sympathy and prayers for you and your family at this difficult time .
Just discovered your channel as Hemingway Jones spoke about you. Sorry for the loss of your Grandma. I lost mine at 14 but she was a fun person. Your journal is looking amazing.
Oh Alicia I am so sorry for your loss. However, thank you for sharing your love for your grandmother. I was transported by your words and instantly brought to me my best friend and grandmother again. Grandmothers bring us love and teach us life enduring skill that lasts a lifetime. As my grandmother would say to you, so will I. May her memory be eternal! Bless you.
Sending you heartfelt condolences for the loss of your grandmother. May it be soon that all her mementos and and your many memories of her make you smile with delight.
Firstly, I’m so sorry about your grandmother. Thank you for sharing your grief with us. May her memory be a blessing. Secondly, thank you for showing your progress with this cover. I have been wanting a cover like this as well. ❤
I’m so sorry for your loss, Alicia. I hope you find peace and comfort in “seeing” her everywhere in your beautiful home. Sending you love and peace. I enjoyed this patina video as well. The cover is looking better with age. Thank you as always for sharing. ♥️
I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandmother. Thank you so much for sharing. My own grandmother moved on last May, and it has been so indescribably hard. We were incredibly close. I'm so happy for you that you're able to be surrounded by the things that she gave you. Grandmothers can be such special people. Also, your new notebook cover is lovely. I use A5s for journaling. But lately, I've really been wanting to try B6s. The A5s have been feeling too large and unwieldy sometimes. But I've been using them for such a long time, and I don't usually like change. Also, thank you for the beautiful view! I'm a coastal and forest person myself, but I am rarely able to spend time in nature these days and love getting to see the beautiful desert view.
Thank you so much. I too am sending you condolences in regards to your own loss. We are very lucky to have had such people in our lives. ❤ I feel that way too sometimes about A5s even though they were my first journal size love. Will you be trying a standard B6 or a slim? And I'm glad you got to appreciate a little desert. :)
I't´s gratifyng to hear you say that one needs space, a sort of emptiness, to savor the things one has found to fill our lives, or some of our most valuable time. You said this with other words, toward the end of this video. And I like your saying it because I find your voice true, and that's a nice thing to find. I think many of your watchers find this as well. Thank you.
I'm so glad you appreciated that! Yes! An emptiness, a space - so valuable in our lives! Such emptiness is impactful in music and art too, literature even. Thank you so much, and you're welcome.
Above all, my condolences for your grandmother; it’s wonderful that you had such a close relationship. The purpose of a sticker is to write on it before sticking it into the booklet, as you might make a mistake. If you do it afterwards, there’s no need for a sticker, and you might as well write directly into the booklet.
I had a gramma that I loved so so much, and now I am a gramma, too. I still miss my gramma and still wish I could call her. It has been over twenty years. But oh how lucky we are to have had such love and care and friendship. Big hug for you. I am so sorry for your great loss.
Aww, that is so amazing you had such a special grandma in your life, and now are one yourself! We are very lucky to have such people in our lives. Thank you so much ❤
I'm reminded of an expression I heard once..."We are the sum total of everyone we've ever known." So, when you think about things in that context, your Grandmother lives on in you even to this day. :)
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my grandmother two years before my son was born. If I could only ask one thing to the universe it would be to they got the chance to meet. She was and still is a pillar in my life. It appears to be the case with your grandmother. She will live in you, you will feel her presence and guidance in everything she gifted to you (material and moral) , and to have that will be so precious. Your new notebook feels like a fresh start, light and simple, a back to the basics, to the essence. I have a midori goat leather in A5, it was my first journal after almost a decade without writing. I'm not using it at the moment but it always reminds me when I see it on the shelf to take a step back and focus on what's vital. It has the most gorgeous patina 🥰
Oh gosh, I am so sorry for your loss as well. Not being able to introduce your son to such an impactful person in your life must have been so hard. We are lucky to have such people in our lives though. Thank you so much ❤ And yes, the notebook is a fresh start, a back to the basics! I am enjoying it very much. I am so curious to see your own Midori goat leather!
Such a beautiful cover! I've been thinking about getting one to for my b6 slim midori planner. But I found a guit expensive over here in the Netherlands. So it was nice to see a video about it! Probably going to save up a bit for it!
I'm glad the video was helpful! It's a beautiful cover. I'm glad to have it, despite the pen loop busting, and the high sticker price. It's been worth it.
The cover is aging beautifully, with the exception of the pen loop of course. In my travels & stationery store visits I've picked up some colorful elastics that hold a notebook closed and act as a pen loop. I've even tried sewing these myself using wide (~2cm) elastic. Something of the sort may work well for your journal cover. Finally, my condolences for the loss of your grandmother. It's easy to tell how very much she meant to you and I'm glad you have so many "touchstones" in your home to remember her by. It's been many years since my own grandma passed away but I think of her often especially when I view, or hold, or use various items that once were hers. My favorite is probably cooking with her sturdy cast iron dutch oven. Virtual hugs to you.
I will look into some colorful elastics! I think that could be a great solution. Also, thank you so very much for your condolences. I feel very blessed to have had her in my life, and for such a long time too. I think it is so wonderful that you can revisit your own grandma at times. I hope you enjoy many cookouts with her and her dutch oven. ❤

😞 I'm so sorry for your loss, over the many years my grandma has given me special pieces that I cherish dearly. Every time I look at them I feel her warmth and love. Hugs my dear... Btw, the cover looks beautiful and I can't wait to see it later on, and see how beautifully it's aged. Also I'd love to see what you do for a new pen loop.
I happened on a midori B6 a couple years ago and when I started it, I thought it wouldn’t work because it has no grid or lines but it turns out I don’t need them and I’m now on my third one. For me, it’s the perfect size and accommodates all of the nonsense I stick into it. Your cover is beautiful! I’m looking forward to seeing how the patina evolves.
That's so great! It's wonderful to stumble upon a thing and then have it continue to work out! I'm looking forward to seeing how the cover continues to patina, it's been so enjoyable to observe!
