A lot of things have I learned while watching the auditions for this song: -People's creativity and lyric writing. -People's thought processes in rhythms and melodies. -People's vocal range. -People who need more vocal practice. -People who have thousands worth of equipment/software but lack the talent. -People who have talent but don't have good quality/equipment. -People who write lyrics about love or their ex girl/boy friend. Which is very cliche.
Youn Nishimura it made me think of CHON, very slightly. It's not math rock but it's ambient and very pretty. They'd be fine without one but I won't be upset if they add one, as long as they're good
Any form of boy band cleans will ruin this, I could see it with a mid centered singing style, but idk this is little bit Jason Richardson in terms of tones, I say fuck it use synth and choruses instead.

Shit. I literally just stumbled across this from watching No Cover. There's still a really homey feeling. Local feeling. Had the opportunity to play the Worchester Paladium in Mass thanks to these folks back in 2014. Great times, good stuff 👍
This is seriously so beautiful. As much as I would love to hear a voice that can compliment this, I wouldn't mind this being instrumental. So beautiful and atmosphere. Love it. In a way, reminds me of my band. Can't wait to see what becomes of this project. I see this becoming a favorite! That bass break reminds me of Intervals - The Shape of Colour.
+Buttersnips C-137 I find him boring. He lacks an identity. Take a guy like Daniel Tompkins or Eliot Coleman for example, these guys have their own unique sound, you know it's them when you hear them. Marcus doesn't have that. He sounds like he came from a pop punk cover band.

Okay but periphery's worst attribute is Spencer. If they have a solid harsh vocalist that does okay cleans but doesn't go with their vision then it's totally up to them to fill it with someone that matches better.
For what it's worth from some random fan of the label: search SUMERIAN VOCAL AUDITION - Andy Cizek Go watch his, then potentially wrap this audition. I want the album with him on it. Full package with lyricism, melodic intuition and vocal chops. I'm still going to record one, but that's more for fun, because with guys like Andy in the running, I really feel like someone of his ease and caliber should be selected. Just my two cents. Would have loved to give it a try. The instrumental is so beautiful. I strongly feel like screaming/singing would be perfect. Not one over the other. I am better at screaming and can sing only low notes. But I definitely see why they'd put emphasy on singing. Very few vocalists that would pull it off without screaming. If you ask me, I think Adrian (Ex Northlane) would do fantastic here.

Devin Barrus has to win this competition for humanity. Other competitors are great, especially Andy Cizek, but Devin's lyrics, vocal melodies, structures, and falsettos easily took this competition. Sumerian would be making a huge mistake if they didn't choose him. I would be a little bummed if they chose not to pick him over a technicality like him editing his vocals, as common as that is these days.

Devin Barrus has to win this competition for humanity. Other competitors are great, especially Andy Cizek, but Devin's lyrics, vocal melodies, structures, and falsettos easily took this competition. Sumerian would be making a huge mistake if they didn't choose him. I would be a little bummed if they chose not to pick him over a technicality like him editing his vocals, as common as that is these days.
I agree he is one of the best in the competition, and personally my favorite over Andy.
