  • This video demonstrates how to perform an ultrasonic conventional angle beam calibration using the IIW Type 2 reference block. Materials: Olympus EPOCH 1000i UT tester, 2.25Mhz transducer, AWS "snail wedge" 45 degrees, IIW Type 2 carbon steel reference block.

    Please John make a DAC video and reiterate why we even need the DAC when doing ASME. I understand that we need to know how the indication acts at different depths. But I’m struggling with building them and also understanding why we would need it.

    Please do calibration phase array straight beam for 0.14 inches to 0.06 inches using epoch 1000i

    should you check your index point and your agle before calibrating? because if your agle change the pathway change and need to recal again. am i right?

      Not really. This is the whole reason that they are radiused so you could cal a 70 degree wedge or a 45 on the same surface. The 0 degree hash is the center of the "circle"

    Why 2 and 4 inches? What is it reading at 2? Shouldn’t it be 4 and 9 inches?

      This is Type 2 block, it has 2 radiuses one at 2" and one at 4". The 4"-9" is Type 1 block
