You gotta love that C63 especially Edition 507, it is one of the best cars AMG has ever made. Super car performance and everyday practicality. Last of the 6.2 litre V8 Future classic. Too bad they are so rare.
I 100% agree with you about it being a future classic. I have good news for you though regarding availability! You don't need the 507 version to experience the legendary M156 engine in the W204 chassis in all its glory. The 507 has exactly the same engine components as the P31 performance package C63 models and literally just has a slightly different ECU tune (other than that it's just aesthetic parts, like the steering wheel, wheels, hood, black grille surround and some stickers). Due to the M156 engine being detuned in the C class it will "unlock" around 520 crank horse power with a simple ECU tune in each and every C63 (even without the 507 or P31 pack, it doesn't really matter, they all will end up with approx. the same power). There is practically no felt difference between the engines that have the SLS parts and the standard C63. I personally have a pristine low mileage C63 facelift with the Performance Pack and a tune and to be honest, the SLS engine components are cool, but I could absolutely live without them. Every model trim of the W204 C63 is dripping with character and the edition 507 really doesn't give you anything you can't have in the other variants too.
@@sveeny Facelift C63 PP also has 'SLS internals'. It's basically the same engine as 507. The regular C63 has restricted air intake, so it's the only one which is 'detuned'.
@@LionBlu2000 Yes I actually said in my comment that the Facelift C63 PP has the SLS internals. I own this exact car btw. However regarding the power output you are wrong! Non of them have restricted air intake but all C63 W204 (including the performance pack and the 507) have restricted throttle maps! The SLS internals add almost no power by the way. The additional 30hp from the Performance Pack come from a different ECU tune but even then the throttle bodies don‘t open fully! A stage 1 will open them up completely and unlock pretty much the same hp number for every single C63 W204 model which is about 520hp to the crank, which is what the engine produces in the E63 where it is not detuned. Again, the SLS internals are nice to have but not necessary in my opinion. All C63 will produce about 520hp with a stage 1 and you will not even feel that you have these engine components.
@@LionBlu2000 1. every tuner knows that the throttle bodies don‘t open up fully, it‘s common knowledge and 2. by fully opening them up, they all end up with approximately 520 hp just like the fully opened up E63 with the exact same engine which does 520hp as well. And so does the black series with also the very same engine. Also, naturally aspirated engines would be very difficult to get some significant power gains with just ECU tune if it wasn‘t for removing a simple de-tune.
The M156 Engine really is just glorious. A big naturally aspirated V8 with a thunderous soundtrack and insanely large powerband. Probably one of the greatest AMG's to ever come out of Affalterbach.
I have a GR Yaris and one of these (the regular facelift C63 with the performance pack which has the same engine components as the 507 and the car has a stage 1 ecu tune) and couldn‘t be happier with that combination. Always happy when new W204 C63 content comes out 😊 thanks man, enjoyed the video!
That 6.2L N/A V8 is one of the best V8 sounds of all time. That engine is just a special engine from AMG, and while I love their 4.0L biturbo V8, there's something about this 6.2L V8 that is even more special and amazing.
I have the coupe version of this car. I have remapped and supercharged it. It is a future classic. They do not make them like this anymore. It is a beautiful car with a wonderful engine. It puts a smile on your face and once you have it experienced it you always want more!
Absolutely loved this video. I have a standard C63 Wagon with an LSD and I can defo agree with a lot of the experience you had. It's an insane daily driver for getting the kids about, everytime I go into a tunnel or car park the kids ask me to rev it and I just see massive smiles on their faces. Fuelling it gets pricey, but there isn't long till these cars become extinct. Its my realistic dream car box ticked.
Didn't even know that 507 was also available in shooting brake version... I only wish rear wheel arches would be as pronounced as front, they just made car look much better from the front but it's something missing at the rear. Love the coupe version, one of the best looking MBs from that design language era
@@sikais17 I know all of this but you get the point, besides, Class C model T sounds stupid and wagon doesn't sound too sporty to me, I thnk C should be in a shooting brake config anyway, it should have lowered descenging roof line and coupe style lights, whoch wouldnt been too hard since they already had an inventory
@@bits2646 Don't mean to butt in but there is a difference between a station wagon (estate) and shooting brake. A station wagon has four doors and a shooting brake was meant for coupe's with a sweeping roofline. But since the CLA and CLS are meant to be four door "coupe's" with a sweeping roofline they are called Shooting Brake. The four door c63 estate doesn't qualify to be a shooting brake for that reason.
Nobody bought em at that price, there back down. Dealers thought they could fool people by tryna trick them into thinking its a special or limited edition, but only enthusiasts r buying these cars second hand n u aint fooling a enthusiast. All the 507 is, is hood vents n a different pair of forged rims, nothing crazy.
My biggest regret car wise, was selling my 2013 C63 estate. It ticked all the boxes, really. Was palladium silver, with a similar interior except those red accents on the dash. It’s quite expensive to maintain but has that mechanical feeling that’s not present currently.
I'm happy you like the AMG style, it's what we want, big power everywhere with comfort in a usable beautiful car, and no one else apart from USA does it
Always enjoy watching a video on a C63 NA car. I own a 2011 , I wish the shooting brake was in Canada. Hands down one of the best sounding cars out there. Even though the car is 11 years old I get comments on a daily basis.
I ran a 2012 C63 AMG saloon, non performance pack but it was tuned with stage 1, resonator delete, Quiafe LSD, genuine edition 507 forged wheels with MPSS tyres, most exciting car I’ve owned. Wish I kept it..
Riding a horse and driving an amg actually feels really similar. When sitting on a horse you can just feel how goddamn strong they are and that at any moment they could unleash these huge amounts of power. That’s what an amg feels like too 😁
The earlier W204 6.3 sedans of 2008-9 is by far the more entertaining to drive of the W204 6.3s. @@a.gervalla6258 The W204 C63 Is FASTER then the W205 C63 in stock forms....the W204 C63 was detuned from factory at 450hp as not to disrupt the marketing and sales scheme.
