Exactly! Thank you! Finally, somebody who gets it and shares my view, which just happens to be the TRUTH! I'm a big fan of country, but I can't tell you any of the current top ten people, songs, etc. I tried to watch the Opry recently to share it with my young daughter. I was a little younger than she when I had the privilege of being backstage at the Opry, visiting Opry land Hotel, & getting to be in the audience for a show. I recall being aware of the history, despite my youth. My uncle sang back up with the likes of the late, great Dottie West and Martha Carson, the latter whom I thought was like a great aunt. I actually cried & had to turn off the TV because I'm not sure what those folks were singing, but it sure wasn't country music! Furthermore, I don't know who's in charge of the Opry now, but how DARE you put the circus acts in the circle where Aunt Martha, Patsy, Minnie, George, Roy, and Johnny all stood. The circle has been broken.
George doesn’t need the Opry, it’s the other way around. But with the direction that the current country music genre is taking, I don’t know why any real country music entertainer would want to go down that rabbit hole. Nashville has changed way too much for most true country music fans.
Yeah, Thomas, I'd like to see the small few of these new ones that are real good continue to make country music, but if Nashville has their way, they'll find a way to screw it up.
I appreciate George Strait and all his decades of true, authentic country music. He chose not to join the Grand Ole Opry for one reason, it was told you had to appear a certain amount if times live there every year. George stated that he lived in Texas and could not meet that requirement with his home being in Texas, as well as his massively busy touring schedule at the time. I respect t him for that decision. I have seen George over 10 times in concert, and he never disappoints me. I miss seeing him in concert as he doesnt tour as extensively as before, but I do respect his decision to do so for his own health. He is a true country gentleman, and he is keeping it real. God bless you, George, and keep on being you. That is perfect for your true fans. It is the Grand Ole Opry's loss, in my opinion.

George doesn't have to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry to make him King of country music. He has such a huge fan base, hit songs, and awards that to him I guess it doesn't bother him. I was born in South Philadelphia surrounded by rock stations. My father listened exclusively to jazz. My grandfather played bass fiddle in a band for a few bucks a week in the 50's. There were no country stations in Philly. I didn't even know what country was back in my teens. Then we moved to Lancaster, Pa. I was exposed to Don Williams, Willie, Johnny, and so many others. Now I listen to country and 70-90's rock. But truthfully, there are not many acts I listen to in the modern country arena. But I love Chris Stapleton, Ashley McBride, Miranda, and so many more. But if George Strait is playing. I stop whatever I'm doing and just enjoy!
This is a loss for the Opry, not for George. George has remained true to his fans, and the roots of country music. More so than what can be said for the Grand Old Opry. I still listen to George Strait music weekly. I don't know the last time I thought about the Opry.
This is unbelievable. There's got to be something else. There are so many new artists who are already members, such as Luke Combs who is great, but only recently was a "best new artist." So, longevity does not appear to be important. If the Opry is a "Nashville Country Club," I am sure Strait doesn't give a hoot. It's the Opry's loss.
There is no need to bash the Opry in this. I went there. They discussed the reason George did not join the Opry. And yes...it was HIS choice. It was because he didn't feel he could give them the time and effort to play as the requirements are. It's as simple as that. They discussed it, he didn't feel he could give them the time that was required, so he decided not to do it.
George Strait played on the Opry stage in March, 1991 on a Thursday night during the annual County Music Radio Seminar. I happened to be back stage at that concert and remember it well. Although it was not the Saturday night Grand Old Opry, he did play the Opry stage that night.
Just my opinion, which like everyone else's, doesn't really amount to much, but the Opry is a Nashville club, not necessarily a country music club. It revolves around those who live in that area, and are willing to make the commitment. And we have seen newer artists who have been made members who don't come close to fitting the bill. George is a Texas guy, born and bred. He's not willing to commit to 26 dates/year, which I can understand. No one in country music today, or on the horizon, will come close to his accomplishments. He doesn't need the Opry, and that's fine.
The King of Country Music does not need -- and never has needed -- the Grand Ol' Opry. They have ridiculous appearance and compliance rules that force performers to conform to them, and George is no conformer. Y'all can keep your "country" rockers over there in Nashville. We've got George Strait and that's one heck of an Ace in the Hole! God bless Texas!
He has said many times that he will stick with traditional country music and that the people in Nashville sold their souls to anything that brought sales. I agree with him and have much respect for not jumping on that train .
I love it❤ Honestly, I listen to him, almost on a daily basis, yet never knew he wasn't a member🤷♀️I also didn't know that Willie gave his membership up. I say kudos to both of them..💜
The Opry isn't that much of an honor anymore. It's not where a legend like George Strait belongs. He has never changed, he plays and sings and he is the King of country music. Long-live the king. Grand Ole Opry, eat your heart out.
George Strait and a number of very Great musicians and bands don't really need to be a member of the Rock and Roll hall of Fame, Opry or what have you, we know in our heart and mind how they have been a part of our lives and how much we have enjoyed them. George is one of the greatest legends in country music and will be forever. 🤪
George doesn’t need anybody he’s a giant in the country music industry. He’s a big star in his own right. He’s a good family man he’s got my respect. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thats what say too. Why isn't a member of the Grand ole Opry he's been around along time i have seen George Strait in concert many times . Been your biggest fan ever since you started singing back in the 80s. Love 💘 hugs 🤗 ❤
George Strait and his music will be remembered and performed for decades to come. The man and his music require no validation from the CMA, the people decide who they like not some corporate body of faceless nobodys.
Good for George love him and his music stay true to yourself George your fans love you, hell I love country music and I never been to the grand old Opry👍👏🏻
Had the opportunity to meet George when I was about 11 in Lovington NM. He was there hosting a special Olympic Rodeo alongside of buddies Roy and Troy Cooper World Champion team ropers. And that guy is the same guy I see and hear about all throughout the years. He was so kind and genuine.
George has been the epidemy of all performers EVER. Find me one legitimate complaint about him or his time in the limelight.... YOU CAN'T. This man is what allllll performers strive for.
Amen! Anyone would be a fool to get mixed up with those orgs in Nashville. Look at what they did to Randy Travis and I don't like Taylor Swift music but they did the same to her.
There are 12 or 15 that are and will always be the best, I'll not list them and argue about it. I will say that any country great list that does not include Mr. George Strait, is an incomplete list, I still get chills listening to his incredible God given gift.
I always regret that my wife and I never got to see George Strait in concert. We have several of his CD's that we take with us on trips and vacations and play them religiously. He is "Pure Country". As far as the Grand Ole Opry is concerned in recent decades it has become more of a genre for young rock star wannabe's. We go on vacations in Tennessee but really have no desire to go to the Opry.
Everybody already knows hes the Best He is a man who holds his treasure closer to his heart. Ive been to the Grand old oprey once however I've listened to his music thousands upon thousand of times. He is a man who sings with a heart ❤️
When the "Nashville Sound " reared it's nasty head back whenever. The Mother Church went right along with it. Real country music (the classic kind) only lives, now, in our hearts.
As much as I love seeing some of the artists at the Opry. I understand why so many artists are not members. It's hard enough to try and live a normal life just with the commitments he has on his own. He is very much a family man and loves spending time on his ranch,Raising top horses and horse events in his home state. God Bless You George.
Strait made old country music cool again when he came along. Country was going pop and Nashville was being taken over by the corporations. He never left his style and sound. Fans loved him for that. The Opry was changing as well. George always had a tour schedule from hell. He went out to his fans. Believe me, they loved him for that. George is a Texan. He loves Texas, and that is where he wanted to be. I don't think he ever gave the Opry much thought really.
It’s like any group, to be a member you have to be a participate but it’s not for everyone and that doesn’t make him any less important to country music.
My fellow Texan has a down home heart ❤️ he doesn't need to have the Opry under his belt to be true country. He's the whole definition of a country boy..I've met him several times hes very genuine he is the King of Country 🤠
This is a suicide comment but here goes. The Opry at its foundation is based on Blue grass style country music. George Straight grew up in Texas where he grew up on western country music and western Swing. It’s is not the same music that country people in the east “ especially from Appalachia listen to”. George Straight is on par with Elvis. He has that thing that you can’t let go of and can’t quit listening to. I may never meet him, but in my lifetime,he still is the greatest country music singer I’ve ever heard.
Interestinging comment & history lesson there. I'd much rather listen to GS & Willie than bluegrass. Bluegrass sucks it's boring. Texas country swing sounds like country music dancing in a Texas dance hall like in George's movie 🎥 Pure Country.
When George strait first got started they told him he was too country and rejected him... Lol... little did they know what people's music likes really was.
I totally understand why he's not a member. He doesn't need to be one for him to be the true King of country music for me!! I've been listening to him since I was a kid, when he 1st came out and I always will!! He is my favorite ❤!! I saw him live in the 80s. He San our wedding song. Hes the king of country music and stays true to himself I respect him so much ❤️❤️🎵🎵🎵🤗
Hello fans I really appreciate your effort and support in my musical career
Thanks a lot dear for choosing to listen to my music. I really appreciate you.
George strait is great no matter where he's been or going ..still great
He is the King of Country music. He doesn't need an invitation. The Grand Oly Opry need to have the King of Country.❤
Thanks for your continuous love and support, how long have you been a great fan of mine?

Since I was in my teens. I heard your songs on the radio , when I would visit family members. I felt it calm my soul, since that time I was going through a stage of "boy crazy" . I love the song you sang in the movie. It was soothing. It also remind me what love is all about. Not all this trash of insulting a female or male. Your songs are God given gift to us all. God bless you!
@@georgestrait9275
The movie was called Pure Country.
I watched over and over again. Love the music 🎶. The part I like is when your eyes glades at a girl in the dance hall. In this movie no one knew you were a country singer superstar. Until they heard the smooth voice, and realized who you were. You even made the girls cry. Lol, just like the Beatles. That's what I like about the movie. Pure love. Your music Pure love. All from the heart ♥
Thanks for the love and support God bless you
I've seen George in concert 4 times. He's one class act.
Hello fans thanks for your love and support may God bless you
Just says, As nice as membership may be, you don't need a Grand Ole Opry membership to be successful....Good music, a Great voice and a Love for the fans has made George Strait a legend in country music and the number one country male vocalist in my eyes....
George doesn't have to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry to make him King of country music. He has such a huge fan base, hit songs, and awards that to him I guess it doesn't bother him. So why should we care. George us all country music thru and thru,he will never change. So I don't think 🤔 it is bothering George too much. George is A GREAT COUNTRY STAR NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT. 👌 H from Canada 🇨🇦
Hello fans thanks for the love and support. God bless you
@GeorgeStrait-yp1uz YOU are very welcome George, I will always support you and your music 🎶 you are the best 👌 in Country Music, that is why they call you KING GEORGE. 🤴 ALL the best George from Canada 🇨🇦
Everyone of my fans are important to me and if you know me , you'd know that i don't see my self any different from an ordinary man, i was once a dot in the woman world before fame so i promised myself that i won't let my status get into my head. Because, to put it blatantly, we all shit the same way. Can I have your gmail so I can text you private where I can reply messages myself
@GeorgeStraitmusic241 Thankyou George for your reply,I am a very dedicated fan from Woodstock Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 😀 YOU are Country Star thru and thru George, can't say the same for Grand Ole Opry, many need to follow you George, and get with the program. 👍🇨🇦🫶
I don't think it matters if he goes to the Grand Ole Opry. He remains faithful to country music and his fans and they love him
Hello fans thanks for love and support so far God bless you
Thanks a lot dear for choosing to listen to my music. I really appreciate you.

George is the very best country singer love him ❤

And George Jones ❤
This is a loss for the Opry, not for George. George has remained true to his fans, and the roots of country music. More so than what can be said for the Grand Old Opry. I still listen to George Strait music weekly. I don't know the last time I thought about the Opry.
This is unbelievable. There's got to be something else. There are so many new artists who are already members, such as Luke Combs who is great, but only recently was a "best new artist." So, longevity does not appear to be important. If the Opry is a "Nashville Country Club," I am sure Strait doesn't give a hoot. It's the Opry's loss.
maybe George doesn't like the freemasonic club
I agree. Randell King too. Great country artist but hasn’t been around that long.
Luke combs stinks
George has boring songs. He is boring himself
Loving George Strait songs all day long
Thank you so much for your support and love may the lord bless you
Thanks a lot dear for choosing to listen to my music. I really appreciate you.
George recently played at the Opry for Loretta Lynn's memorial also. He performed "Don't Come Home Drinkin'"
Travis Tritt's a member of the country club! Country music is what he loves!
He holds the honor of giving us one of the finest examples of great acting that the world has ever seen.
You're talking about his movie 🎥 Pure Country of course.
You can't beat that movie . he makes country music.they didn't make him he is a real singer and true man.rosie
@@rosemarysinclair814 Thank you for love and support
The King of Country Music does not need -- and never has needed -- the Grand Ol' Opry. They have ridiculous appearance and compliance rules that force performers to conform to them, and George is no conformer. Y'all can keep your "country" rockers over there in Nashville. We've got George Strait and that's one heck of an Ace in the Hole! God bless Texas!
He has said many times that he will stick with traditional country music and that the people in Nashville sold their souls to anything that brought sales. I agree with him and have much respect for not jumping on that train .
Trashville sold out to the lawyers and the record companies. It's no longer country music.
I absolutely love his music
Hello fans thanks for your love and support
Mary can you just reply immediately you see this I have something to share with my fans
I love it❤ Honestly, I listen to him, almost on a daily basis, yet never knew he wasn't a member🤷♀️I also didn't know that Willie gave his membership up. I say kudos to both of them..💜
Happiness over everything, Do you still remember me?
i would rather have tickets to a george strait concert than a life time of passes to the grand old opry.
He is a renegade. He is pure country, and knows it doesn't take being recognized by any one but the listeners.
Omg!!!! I never thought of that!!
You have people that are not even country artists and HE ISNT in it!!
I fell in love with him even more after watching Pure Country....I Cross My Heart💚
Who needs the Grand Ole Opry when you’re George Straight? He’s the best ever!!!❤
George doesn’t need anybody he’s a giant in the country music industry. He’s a big star in his own right. He’s a good family man he’s got my respect. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hello there . Thanks for the support
How long have you been a fan ?
Hello fans thanks for your love and support God bless you
Thats what say too.
George Strait is King of Country music!
Hello fans thanks for your love and support God bless you
Apparently he doesn’t need to be a member. He’s wonderful.
Hello fans thanks for your love and support
Nothing changes the fact that George Straight is the king of country music ❤ to all God bless
Hello there . Thanks for the support
Where are you from ?
A true legend. Total country, gentlemen wish we had more of em
George has been the epidemy of all performers EVER. Find me one legitimate complaint about him or his time in the limelight.... YOU CAN'T. This man is what allllll performers strive for.
Love me some George Strait music, wherever he's playing!!👍😁❤️🌹
Hello fan’s thank for your love and support
George is the GOAT of country! Best voice and easy on the eyes hes just pure CLASS
Peace and love always, Do you still remember me ❤❤
Love George Strait ❤🙏
Hello fans thanks so much for your support and love God bless you
George Strait is the undisputed King of Country Music Hands Down his fans and his music make him so ,and just an all around Great Man
HE Is the G O A T!
He is the king ! George is the legend of all time ! Love him sooo much ! He’s the best country artist ! ❤
Hello fans thanks for your love and support may God bless you
Being a Texan is a greater honor than being a member of the Opry. Plain and simple.
He's faithful to his fans. I've never heard any other singer say a bad thing about him. They need to change the rules because that sucks!
Peace and love always, Do you still remember me ?
He doesn't need the grand old opra he is the king of country music
I always regret that my wife and I never got to see George Strait in concert. We have several of his CD's that we take with us on trips and vacations and play them religiously. He is "Pure Country". As far as the Grand Ole Opry is concerned in recent decades it has become more of a genre for young rock star wannabe's. We go on vacations in Tennessee but really have no desire to go to the Opry.
He should be a Opry member. He's the "Elite of Country Music"
He is!!!🎉🤩❤️
Screw the opry, they’ve lost their direction and are pushing the country pop shit that’s an embarrassment to real country music!
Everybody already knows hes the Best
He is a man who holds his treasure closer to his heart.
Ive been to the Grand old oprey once however I've listened to his music thousands upon thousand of times. He is a man who sings with a heart ❤️
Peace and love always, Do you still remember me ?
When the "Nashville Sound " reared it's nasty head back whenever. The Mother Church went right along with it. Real country music (the classic kind) only lives, now, in our hearts.
As much as I love seeing some of the artists at the Opry. I understand why so many artists are not members. It's hard enough to try and live a normal life just with the commitments he has on his own. He is very much a family man and loves spending time on his ranch,Raising top horses and horse events in his home state. God Bless You George.
@George Strait R you the real George Strait?
@George Strait Thank you George, I have tickets for your show at Nissan Stadium Sat July 29th and would enjoy meeting you.
Thanks Again Donnie
@@annsmith8948 he is not the real George strait. If you click on his name, he just joined a week ago and only has a couple subscribers
Love George Strait good music
I love him he loves his Texas he is a real cowboy and and great singer he can do no wrong❤
Hello there . Thanks for the support
Where are you from ?
Hello fans thanks for your love and support God bless you
George Strait has never needed the opry. My wife and I dance to George Straits songs purty much every day, in the kitchen. 👍
Meanwhile there is a lot of people who shouldn’t be in, but King George doesn’t need to be in, he is in a class all by himself
Ol’ George ain’t missing out on anything.
It’s like any group, to be a member you have to be a participate but it’s not for everyone and that doesn’t make him any less important to country music.
Hello fans thanks for your support and love thank you God bless you
Thanks a lot dear for choosing to listen to my music. I really appreciate you.
George don’t need the Opry, the Opry needs George…and he ain’t playing their game. He’s the King, nuff said.
Nor was Conway ,yet they both had over 60 #1 hits
I loved Conway Twitty's music. However, he only had 55 #1 hits. George Strait surpassed him in 2007 to become #1.
My fellow Texan has a down home heart ❤️ he doesn't need to have the Opry under his belt to be true country. He's the whole definition of a country boy..I've met him several times hes very genuine he is the King of Country 🤠
@GeorgeStraitmusic241 I'm born and raised in Texas but now I am living in Nevada
Bravo, George!!!❤️❤️❤️ # GODBLESSTEXAS!!!
Hope you have a wonderful and blessed day darling sending love and prayers and hugs to you
Peace and love always❤❤
Cowboy I love all your music you are so bless with your beautiful talent king I love all your music love you
Peace and love always❤❤
George is class act talent like words in music

I've seen George in concert more times than any other. Proud to say, I shook his hand
I totally understand why he's not a member. He doesn't need to be one for him to be the true King of country music for me!! I've been listening to him since I was a kid, when he 1st came out and I always will!! He is my favorite ❤!! I saw him live in the 80s. He San our wedding song. My husband and I saw him for our 25th wedding anniversary ❤ he was amazing!!! I hope to see him again 🙏🏻🤞🏻!!!!
The most important Opry that George is a part of, is the Opry that is within our hearts ❤.
That's what counts
Is the individuals who loves ❤ is music and the love ❤ we have for him.
that's bull .. He doesn't need the opry recognition. He famous all by himself. congrats George...
