Time is an interesting thing on CM2 maps. Even when there's plenty, it's amazing how much can be burnt up trying to get even the first objective. Which I guess is very realistic.
I've noticed the same: I always seem more cautious working towards that first point of contact, but once that's out of the way things speed up rapidly. It's almost like dipping your toes in the water to see how hot it is.
awesome video as always! I've been waiting for you to hit a major obstacle, seems like your little pixeltruppen have been having too easy a fight so far...
The only suggestion I have to potentially improve your fantastic videos is some more overhead shots from a fixed position as the mission progresses, I got quite lost there towards the middle of the mission and having a fixed frame of reference with potentially you drawing on the map as your plan evolves might make it a bit easier to understand what's going on. Thank you!
I'm always open to suggestions. More bigger picture shots to show general progress are something I should be able to slot in relatively easily. It gets a little awkeward sometimes when I'm jumping between two sets of units that aren't operating in sync (it would be confusing to show a something like a burning tank on the overhead without explaining where it came from for example), but I'm sure I can work around that.
Good video, that for all your hard work. I do need to tell you though, it's really hard to see anything when it's in nighttime so you might consider turning up your brightness or going into the higher lite mode of the game! Hope falls well with you. Again thx
I did give the lighting some considerdation: its a tough one because its dawn so the level of darkness is constantly changing as the sun rises. Using the artificial brightness or upping the video brightness at the start seemed like it would make things more confusing. Plus, given that I can see it pretty well on my screen, I'm not convinced my monitors viewing angles are a bit borked.
@Eric Bishop. The mission is set at 6:00am rather than nighttime, and it's fairly easy to see in the standard version of the game, with a medium blue sky. I suspect that it is a movie lighting mod that makes it so dark, and gives the sky that strange purple colour.
@@wartsnall7332 The movie lighting mod does indeed make it a bit darker than standard CM- not to the point that I needed to turn artificial brightness on at any point to see what I was doing when I played the game though. The purple sky is actual purple sky though- the lighting mod comes with different, more HDR friendly skyboxes.
@@usuallyhapless9481 I never use artificial lighting myself, just trying to explain to Eric why it looked dark. He might want to check out Owenerd's Montebourg series for a comparison.
Curious are you playing the out of the box or the revamped version? PaperTiger redid the campaign with the non-airborne US troops under the player's commanded being downgraded to largely 'green' in experience level to reflect it's the formation's first real combat experience. Also added in air support and some additional missions IRC. Keep going. :)
Cheers man! This is the out-of-the-box version. I have heard about PaperTiger's revamp, but decided in the end to go with the original: despite the allure of air support, I can't stand green troops.
Great vid as always! Quick question, one of your old CM videos, "Combat Mission Black Sea: Brutal Crossing" looks like it's the start of a "choose your own adventure" style of video, but I think RUclips has eaten the annotations with links at the end of the video. Can you confirm if this is the case, or if I'm just misunderstanding? Thank you!
Sucks that RUclips got rid of all the annotations, having removed the ability to add anymore a few years earlier. All those old annotation adventure videos will be missed :(
Just spectacular. I love your videos and I love combat mission. I have a few questions first, you talk about a few good men, is that a community for combat mission? I would like to get involved into multiplayer games but I do not know how. Could you provide some advice. I am also open to anyone informing me on how to become apart of the CM community
Yes, the Few Good Men is a wargaming community that does a lot of Combat Mission: www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/ There are a few other places, but the FGM is the most active I've found. Finding someone to play against is simple as signing up and asking for an opponent.
I'm playing the turn based mode, which generates minute long 'action phases' that are basically replays. I save these as I'm going along so I can go back to them later.
You are a blessing to the Combat Mission community. Please stay amazing
Thanks!
This is really the best series you've made so far. The quality of your videos just keeps growing by leaps and bounds!
Cheers! Only just halfway there though, I still have time to screw it up.

Is there a combat mission discord somewhere out there?
The Few Good Men has a discord server, but I'm not aware of any others
