People, it's an amplified indoor antenna that will ONLY receive OTA (Over The Air) broadcasts. For those who do not know, broadcasts are paid for by ads so it is NOT piracy. You also will not get a better picture than OTA HD save for BluRay as long as the signal is at least 65%. Also there is NO such thing as a digital antenna. Digital stations are carried by analog RF in either high VHF or UHF as mpeg transport streams. RF does not care what it is carrying.
This is not a scam, it's just a an amplified over the air antenna. The reason so many people think it is something else is that the cable and satellite industry have spent a lot of time and effort to claim a "value added" service by adding the free over the air channels to their digital lineup (which they now charge you for), so you could continue to get local channels through your cable. In the analog days, you could get a much more reliable and higher quality picture with cable than you could with most antennas, but even the cable company had to receive these channels with an antenna. They just usually had a very big one on a tower to get that signal so perfectly. Since all of our TV stations have gone digital over the air however, a good rather than perfect signal is all that is required to get a perfect high-definition picture with 5.1 surround sound. This can be accomplished with a suitable antenna. In my case, a high-gain amp on a rotatable directional fringe area antenna on a mast attached to my house gets me those good signals, but in the suburbs a good multi-directional with a lesser amp should suffice in most cases. If you HOA outlaws them, let your local FCC office know, because they technically can't do that.
or just buy antenna from store and hook it up. i have two hd antenna from fry's. combined and they r giving me 219 channel. one is set to direction of north and other is to south. i placed em on my house roof. no water damage, no wind damage. these antenna cost like 150 each. but its good investment when you don't have to pay 100 or up every month to cable companies.
Yes it works for all your local channels that are within the range of your digital antenna. You may have to point it in another direction to get more of the local over the air digital tv channels you are looking for. It,s not cable tv. But you watch what you can pick up with this antenna for free. I like free and always have.
Regarding the antenna vs.Comcast cable. With the antenna you're actually getting a digital output on your TV. You still get the same channels on Comcast but by the time the picture reaches your TV it's been downconverted to analog unless you're willing to pay more for a digital box.
Ppl please stop falling for these cheap fake gimmicks. WHEN HAVE YOU ACTUALLY GOTTEN SOMETHING FOR FREE WITHOUT IT COSTING YOU MORE THAN YOU BARGAINED FOR FROM THE START. It's a ploy for them to make money simple. It's the same as your roof top antenna, they're just making it more craftier & appealing to the eye. JUST LIKE THE RABBIT ANTENNAE, Buyer beware, suckers rush and place your order NOW.
Everyone...calm down! These indoor antennas DO work! I get 21 channels and live in the country. I receive the three major channels, ETV and two all movie channels. I am not an avid sports person so don't miss ESPN. My family can watch sports on the main channels. This is an aboslutely perfect solution for free HD TV and saving a $100 a month
this is a pretty cool throwback.... i could be wrong but it seems like basically a digital content converter. Stations don't broadcast in Analog anymore (not to my knowledge, and according to the MHz range its looking for digital signals. i do wonder though, if you're using coax, you're likely just getting 480i digital... not ID 480p, HD 720p, or HD1080i (tv isnt broadcast in 1080p yet). Can anyone confirm that? this would likely be good only for those wanting just over the air free TV. (like users of Apple TV users who don't have cable, or access to the CableProvider APP (like TWCTV / OptimumTV)....
Don't Bother with it! I bought one and the only thing I can receive is a church channel and a radio station, and if you live outside of a big city you don't even get anything!!!
A scam? You are nuts. Just read the title of this video again. Yes, you get digital channels, yes, for free, no cable or dish. Ha ha. It's just an antenna. Right! Of course you can buy a different one, but it works. What gimmicks? People, what were you expecting? You are so funny.
This product will help you get a better picture but it's not really necessary if you live in a major metropolitan area. I live about two miles from the transmitter in my city and I can pick up more than 90 stations with simple rabbit ears.
HI there I want to install this in my store, I have about 30 TV's on display. I am wondering if that works in Alberta region and do i need to buy something else to run so many TV's?
Your best bet... a properly roof or attic-mounted antenna, just like the old days. The better the antenna, the more free, digital channels you will receive! These gimmicky, amplified units are all marketing and rarely provide good results.
this is nothing but an antenna for over the air broadcast if you have an old roof top antenna it will work just as well if not better because they are designed to pick up weaker signals and have a longer range.
Can I hook this antenna to my cable TV splitter that is going to my other 3 TV's and work? Or do I need separate antennas for each TV? I was thinking of getting ride of my cable which is split off from a single feed to all my TVs in the home. Does it matter how long the cable line is? I would want a nice long cable feed going to the top of the roof of the home. I would say about 150' long max from antenna to the TV's. Thanks.
This is alot more simple in the UK we have Freeview, Stick a digital aerial to ya wall plug it in to your tv, away you go, no matter where you are you can reach up to 140 channels.
The country is not really the issue - if the stations in the country you are in broadcasts signal in digital - as has just changed over in North America (no more analogue) you will be able to get digital signal free OTA. As was advertised here signal from broadcast locations as close as 40 miles. Thats it - its really a local thing - you have to find how far/close to where you are located - are the towers which are broadcasting free digital OTA (over the air) signal
The HDA-5700 is specially designed for the new digital terrestrial broadcasts. Perfect for new HDTV's as an alternative to or accompanying other HD sources. This antenna will let you take full advantage of the built-in HD tuner in your TV. It receives the new ATSC DTV broadcasts mandated by law over VHF and UHF bandwidths.
Why did they enter 5164 into the search of their website instead of 4730 as the man states? And it comes up as a disc cleaning kit not an antenna? I found the antenna under Monoprice 5164 Antenna AND Monoprice 4730 Antenna. Not a bad price if it works. Going to try one then more if it works out.
Hi Tiatun,The antenna has the capability of working internationally, however, you would need to affirm with your local television providers for over the air signal if they operate via NTSC. It is only capable of accepting NTSC or ATSC signals. Countries in the Asian region would not be able to use it, since they use PAL.
***** Are you really sure about what you just wrote? I have never encountered an antenna that cares about the type of modulation a received radio signal has. The only thing important about the antenna is the frequency-range and the gain. I´d say that this antenna would work fine no matter what country youre in. But your TV-set might not work if you try to use a TV made for NTSC-standard in a PAL country.
***** it also applies to europe also as we also use PAL and Stefan considering monoprice made this device it is safe to say they know what they are talking about regarding PAL and NTSC signal outputs!
I do not buy the argument. An antenna is designed to receive a high frequency signal but does definitely not demodulate the content of that signal. I have worked with electronics for nearly 40 years, and mainly with high frequency equipment, so I should know what I'm talking about. The demodulation of the antenna signal is done in the subsequent connected equipment, such as a television or radio receiver. So in this case, the limiting factor is this equipment, as long as the transmitted radio signal is within the antenna's specified frequency range.
Stefan Hedlund NTSC, ATSC, PAL...are encoding techniques not modulation, its not so much about the antenna...its about the processor's ability to decode the signal
I realize these are old comments and no one prolly cares about this anymore but seriously? Who cares if you know the ins and outs of an antenna? You realize you go to meijer or your local supermarket and but something far uglier, far bigger, and most likely far less functional than this for anywhere between 30 and 90 dollars. 30 being the cheapest. At the very least it brings a sleeker more modern look to the old ugly antenna for 18 dollars. If you're spending your free time posting comments on RUclips and not out working your ass off to make money I'm sure you have the extra funds for an 18 dollar antenna. Why do you need to criticize a product that's most likely trying to give a higher quality of over the air cable, and the people buying them? The only fools here are the ones calling people stupid for buying a product that might provide cable somewhere its not available or is just too expensive. 18 dollars vs 100 dollars a month? I'll take 18. Even if it doesn't work I've still got 82 dollars to find something better.
It's obvious to me, the title represents an alternate way to tune into a few dame TV Channels without paying outrageous monthly cable, satellite fee's. I'd buy a product "once" to achieve what we should already have for free. I have no knowledge of this product, but If it works, it's worth buying, rather then paying $60-$150 a month. I'm looking into options to be done with the "Airway Greed" Charges are Way out of control. As long as we keep paying for them, they just keep going up!
Hay dude my name is twan man I love your videos how get you learn all of this ...I wish I could contact you in person or just over the phone one day if you didn't mind
I'm not sure that he video showed to plug in the AC adapter after hooking everything up. Great otherwise though. Anyone use this product that can vouch for its effectiveness?

ESPN is a cable and DirecTV only channel. You cannot receive ESPN with this antenna. It's a simple antenna. Identical to antennas sold in the 1960s.
You can get a regular digital antenna for about 10 - 20 bucks and the TV service is free.
this is a pretty cool throwback....

i like this. Hope you have this product here in Philippines.
Is it going to work in India. Please give reply.
Don't Bother with it! I bought one and the only thing I can receive is a church channel and a radio station, and if you live outside of a big city you don't even get anything!!!

Is it possible to do a review without the music? It makes it difficult to hear you.
this is nothing but an antenna for over the air broadcast if you have an old roof top antenna it will work just as well if not better because they are designed to pick up weaker signals and have a longer range.
I live in Trinidad, will it work there?I am very interested in the product.

Will this product work in Hawaii??
And how would you receive it without a box ? This is just an antenna.
so what they are saying is that this is an antenna. You make it sound as if it is a new scientific breakthrough.

I wonder by this channel installation
most Newer TVs have the converter built in.
Does this work while sky diving?
Actually most digital antennas sold as is can get all over the air digital HD channels without screwing anything.
Comments for this video should be disabled. The world has no shortage of fools...
Does it work in, Antarctica?
do this work internationally, like catch international channels or just local
