this is like one of the best songs on the album, the lyrics are amazing and the line “we will never quit singing for you” i can’t-
This song makes me go through a journey of emotions, it reminds me of the sea. From the start, the beat starts off sounding like incoming danger, akin to the feeling of a pit forming in your stomach, your heart dropping, and a lump forming in your throat. An instinctual, skittish, cautious feeling mixed with dread and trepidation, like the intuitive gut feeling you get when something is about to happen; the beat sets off the tone of the song in a way that gives me the primal feeling of a prey that is aware that it being hunted, like moments before a deer is caught in headlights. The vocals contrast the beats at first. The beats are immediately heavy and convey a heavy atmosphere, it's like that nagging feeling in your head and a vague warning signal you feel but can't comprehend yet but the melody and vocal delivery starts off light and gives off an unassuming feeling, like a prey who is just going about their business, unaware of the dangers lurking, the contrast sets the tone. The song takes you on an emotional journey, it reminds me of the sea. From the start of the idle, serene, wistful beauty of shallow waters and sparkling seafoam meeting the sand on the seashore, the mysterious and alluring rolling of the deep waters like there is something boiling beneath the surface akin to the calm before the storm, then the overwhelming sadness, anger, and despair in the turbulence of the raging waves crashing against cliffs and rocks; embodying the intense power and sheer will held by a wounded warrior, the scorned survivor.
This song makes me think of a scene: a slow motion battle between merpeople and pirates in the middle of the raging torrent amidst a stormy night, with thunder and lightning in the skies mirroring the explosions, clashes, and cries of the weapons and the warriors that hold them.
It makes me imagine BTS as merpeople, sirens that were scorned, wounded, angered, and strengthened by hardships, loss, sorrow, and pain caused by cruel pirates/humans and the world. Especially the vocal line's "aaaaahhh" parts after each line in the chorus; it sounds like sirens luring in their victims, conjuring ancient spells through arcane song, and calling upon the powers of the sea for incoming battle.
