from my experience i'd say u can definitely add fewer fruits, no problem; this makes the cake less dense/packed, and a little more fluffy. you can also use larger chunks if u want, so they feel chewier and less filling/heavy. baking with a layer of syrup on top of the cake can make the overall cake stickier and therefore softer as well. this would be a much more fluffy, sticky version than Busi's cake. hopefully that helps.
