  • High time to try my hand at another CD Player. I found this one, a Technics, wandering on eBay lost, cheap and broken. "It doesn't work" said the seller... and gosh, didn't it work. There's also a little bit of mystery involved, like in one of those old Humphrey Bogart detective movies ...
This is part 1 of operation "Save the CD Player from the scrapheap"
    Enjoy :)

Hi Technemoria, I hope you are doing well. Another good video. I have fun with these units. I have noticed that cd player's are still around and I get requests to repair some. We sure had great technology back in the day. It's so sad to see all this technology has gone away. I still work on VHS units but not many as in the past! Once again, great video! Be well! 🙂

Hello Alfonso :) Yes, this technology wasn't so bad after all... it certainly answered my dreams as a kid of having advanced compact technology containing knowledge and entertainment all in one ... Of course the classic LP had some charm as well **smile**
See you soon for another video!

Oh boy... a VHS player huh? aarrgghhh not my cup of tea honestly... those are very complicated machines that need a lot of adjustments.... It would certainly be a challenge. I'll consider it ;)

@@TechneMoira Indeed, they are not my cup either. I did repair a few awhile ago, It was easy just replaced pinch rollers and belts. As you say, they are complicated units. The other factor is , very difficult to obtain parts since they are so outdated. I remember back in the early 80's I bought a Magnavox unit for $1300, that was a lot but it was new technology. I looked up on EBay and you can still buy them from $300 to $9.00. I'm not sure how many still own these units. I think stereo's , radio's and record player's are still around and btw , they are easier to work on. Meanwhile I hope you are doing well and once again, great job on these 2 video's. See you on the next round!! Take care!!!🙂

The laser head controls the processor, which controls the motor driver IC, and only then rotates the disc.
If the laser head cannot see the disc, it will not spin.
