  • This video is about script analysis and how to find acting beats in any scene. Many actors don't bother to learn this important skill, and it shows in their work.
When you don't take the time to find all the beats in your scene, you easily fall into the trap of one note acting. When your script analysis is too intellectual, it will not help you to give an interesting performance.
In this video, you will learn script analysis for an actor's point of view. You will find your acting beats based on real emotions. And you will define you beats as actions that you can play. Your beats will vary, so your performance will have different colors. You will become compelling on screen.

    RECOMMENDED GEAR (for self-taping)
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
    Panasonic Lumix: amzn.to/37P3Mo3
The camera I use Expensive & high quality. You do not need one. You can shoot with your smartphone camera. I prefer a DSLR camera.
    Zoom H6: amzn.to/34z7wIl
High end sound quality. I plug my microphone into this recorder and connect the recorder directly to the camera. You do not have to do this shoot a decent self-tape. It's my personal preference. Expensive.
    ATR 2100: amzn.to/35PcEbg
    Excellent USB microphone
    Canon Vixia: amzn.to/34zJJrM
Great DSLR camera. Reasonably priced. I own one as well as the Panasonic Lumix.
    Mount Dog Softbox Lights: amzn.to/35O4cJG
You can shoot with ring lights. I prefer softbox lighting. It offers me greater control over how I look on camera.
    Elgato Green Screen: amzn.to/2R3TZog
I shoot everything in green screen and choose a appropriate background image color for my auditions. Definitely not necessary. But, it's the way I roll.
    Amazon Tripod: amzn.to/2OSu00g
Awesome tripod. Best bang for your buck. I own four of them.
    Newer Ring Light: amzn.to/2R24ND9
    ATR-3350iS Lapel Mic: amzn.to/2DvnkzN
Good basic external microphone for a smartphone.
    Rode Lapel Mic: amzn.to/34yNA8k
Was designed for external use with a smartphone. Good. Right now, the Blue Yeti (below) is my preference.
    Blue Yeti Nano: amzn.to/3lLUoc8
Gives you rich sound. Connects to a smartphone with the lightning to USB adapter below.
    Blue Yeti Blackout Edition: amzn.to/2Pk9k5c
Larger than the Nano. It's a matter of preference.
    Lightning to USB Adapter: amzn.to/3cikOix
GoPro Hero Camera (for diehard video addicts) amzn.to/3cnJBS

I 100% agree with this!! If actors stop worry about "how" and start answering their why, then it gets personal and it elevates.

This would be extremely helpful for beginner to professional. It's always good to be reminded of what to do with ur script. We can all forget certain important moments or overall arcs to our scenes. ;-) Thanks for the refresher!!!

Do you mind discussing about subtext also and the importance of it?
