Theory: The clean guitar melody in the beginning of Eocene is the same as the one in the Bridge of Jurassic|Cretaceous, because it's supposed to resemble mammalian activity during the Mesozoic. The first mammals were small rodent-like animals who were nocturnal to avoid the dinosaurs, and I think the reoccurrence of that melody (which is very trippy and subtle, just like the existence of mammals during the Mesozoic) is a metaphor that mammals begin to rise and primates start to evolve. Like, this one melody made it through the chaos that was Palaeocene. It survived. The Ocean's Albums are always perfectly composed and thought-out in every detail.
Maybe you are right, or maybe you are overthinking it. It is not the first time The Ocean uses the same phrase or melody in various songs of an album. Anyway it's an interesting point of view from you. Cheers! to the best band ever!

We all can only take so much
Some more than others
And our individual tolerance for stress
For loneliness is so subjective
But there’s no tolerance at all
For hopelessness
Yes you sure did your best to smile
When I dragged you once more to the aisle
But all the serenity
Just served to augment your pain
You’ve always been intrigued by death and the other side
You got yourself to close
To the abyss and no one of the closest ones around you
Realized
How your stare turned empty
How the flickering
Faded from your eyes
And emptiness invaded
Yes you sure did your best to smile
When I dragged you once more to the aisle but all the serenity just served to augment your pain
And no one could tell the moment
When you disassembled
When your restless heart froze
And you sank below the ice
Eyes wide open
Your saviors soul is consumed by guilt
Your faith in him won’t be saving you
My whole life I’ve been searching
Digging deep
Turning over every stone
Questioning everything I know
Maybe there’s no fire
Deep behind these mountains
This light is something else
We are just atoms
Colliding crashing
Melting merging
Existing spinning
Colliding burning
Out…
Jesus is the truth, the way and the light. No one goes to the Father except through Him.

I'm ᵗʰᶦˢ close to buying the whole geologic time scale and making it my next road trip
Congrats on having a species named after you guys. You are probably over the moon! I've been listening since about 2005, and I can't get enough of your sound. Or the science.
what do you mean haha??
@@patrickbalkany7989 there was a brittle star fossil discovered. Due to their excellent work in raising awareness to ecological time periods, it was named Ophiacantha oceani, after the band.
@@joshuasavoy4937 wow thats really cool
Miocene | Pliocene just blew my mind.
My favorite too!
I agree! My favorite geological era on the timescale 👌🏼
I was such a huge fan of the previous album and didnt even know that ocean did a follow up! im excited!
Heard these guys on mastodons Spotify. Glad I did! Good shit! New fan!
they say great art comes from pain so whenever i hear something this great i always think what those poor bastards must have gone through
Channeling the pain into art can be very cathartic for the creator though, so hopefully the burden is lifted somewhat.
Yes sir ehhh but ahh yes!!!
What a monumental album. Thanks for making such quality music with KILLER riffs \m/
Wow. Speechless...
I finally got around to reading the lyrics to Jurassic/Cretaceous, there is a reason I have a plate that is 6EXTNCT
this is my album of the year
Thanks guys, it's been an amazing journey!
It's a rather delicate album. Going back and forth from post to black metal, keeping their unique style in the way. For now thumbs up and then listen again tomorrow. Nice job The Ocean Collective.
Still bangs@@@
I get to see these guys live with Leprous this Saturday, and I am STOKED!!! 🤘😄🤘
My God, long time not listened some of your sound -since Pelagial... You guys hypnotizes me eveytime, no useless demonstration, everything has a meaning, it tells stories, love your sense of composition, and your sound. A mix of everything i love, thanks fot his.
What a phenomenal record. Truly outstanding! These guys are geniuses.
Thanks i will use this while I wait for my CD to arrive from US to UK
Are they shipped from the US? I purchased some TO merch recently and it came from Belgium (only took around a week, from their store)
@@declanpossnett2481 depends who you've purchased from the ocean/palegic records stuff will come from mainland Europe but I bought a t-shirt and CD from metal blade records in Ohio so its been posted but not left the US yet.
@@jamesthemachinedean ah yes, anything from Metal Blade will be the US! Hope it doesn't take too long for you dude
@@declanpossnett2481 cheers man, 3 weeks I reckon but who knows with the global situation.
@@jamesthemachinedean I've only just received a BTBAM t-shirt that I ordered around 5-6 weeks ago, hopefully you don't have to wait that long...
I think this is my favorite album by The Ocean. I am completely mesmerized.
Almost an Oceansize-like sound at times. Very tasty. Could do without the extended moments of harsh vocals. This band sounds tremendous with clean vocals through the impassioned wails but I feel like the growls grate just a bit. Incredible musicality and songwriting though.
Seeing this band with Katatonia, Soen, Cellar Darling, Oceans of Slumber in December 2022.
Sweet jams to chill out and evolve to.
i like Holocene ,enchanted
well well... now I know what i'm going to listen to for the next couple of days. It's going to be the best loop ever!
Wow, it's the first song and I'm already in love. Goosebumps included.
Last Album was a 10/10. This one is 12/10...... Love it!
15:05 the keyboard melody is so damnnnnn killer
Literally just heard of this band through a Gojira group page! We'll see....
At this point of time, there are 240 minutes until Album of the Year !!!
Well the time until premiere is globally same
@@aritrasom9536 Ah. I see. Let me update my comment then.
