@Badr Ahmed He probably assumes you're already have a PC capable of playing whatever game you want to stream. My brother mostly streams older games on emulators and just recently set up his EasyCap (or rather I set it up since it ended up being a major pain in the ass) so he can stream Melee. He could probably stream some newer games at lower resolutions. Linus also didn't mention internet which can be a problem or capture cards. What kind of internet to get is too complex a question for this type of video, it depends on how many people are using the network, what kind of quality you want, and what's available in your particular situation. In our case we live in a condo and the best options available for internet are not all that great because even if we paid for a higher tier we basically bandwidth share with everyone in the complex plus a ton of fast food restaurants that are almost certainly on the same cable networks (with cable and phone internet you actually share with everyone on the same main cable or phone line as you). We also don't have the option for fiber here (fiber is faster and more direct which reduces latency but it requires fiber network lines which are often unavailable for condo/apartment buildings). Capture cards are also complex because it depends on what you're capturing, what kind of OS support you need, and what quality you're willing to put up with. Easy cap can do 480p from composite or a little bit higher from S-Video but getting it to work on Windows 10 involves buying the unit (my brother got his years ago and just never set it up), finding out what the actual hardware for the unit is (there's like 10 different variations), and finding (if you're lucky) compatible firmware. Even then you may have to do some modifications to keep the dang thing cool because most if not all of them will cook themselves.

Well if you include the phone that really is what you need, though you can try lowering it to around $200 total. People are missing the fact this relies on already having a camera. This is a GREAT guide, but people saying "wow this is REAL budget" honestly isn't fair to Linus when he does great budget builds that don't rely on previously existing gear edit: wow you guys missed the point hard
99% of people watching this video have a smart phone with a camera. Even in third world countries, anyone who can afford internet can afford a cheap smart phone. So I would say it is not too much to assume that everyone has this “gear” already.
True, plus I dont know about other countries, but if its anything like Poland, you can get a last generation phone from your ISP for $1 if you sign a 2 year contract for using their services.
there really is no difference between good streaming setup and good video-conferencing setup, it's just that OBS needs to be set up to fake a webcam to be picked up by the videoconferencing apps instead streaming directly to youtube/twitch/whatever
This is almost the same exact setup I used in my lessons when we were stuck in quarantine (Italy)! 👍 I just added a paper table cloth as Green Screen (2.99€). Not perfect, but my students liked it and some of them started building their own cheap streaming setup! 😂

What would also be great to compliment this video is another where you go over software on the cheap/beginner stage. A lot of people mention OBS, but it would be cool to see and learn what it does on a basics level. And something for those of us who can't afford Premiere, but want to make content and don't know what to use or do. A "Software for Media Creation 101" of sorts, y'know? Lots of people stuck at home wondering what to do with themselves right now. Myself included. This was excellent, thank you. With a little dedicated effort, it is possible for anyone to start up a little recording booth for themselves.
oh my god thank you!! my laptop doesn’t support sound and the only way for audio to come out is by using bluetooth products and the audio coming from my airpods suck ass, i didnt even know that you can use audio from your mobile device to stream! thanks man, this is the only tutorial i’ve found that actually helped me!
I've been using a clamp light with LED bulb and parchment paper diffuser for WebEx conferences during work-from-home. An old desk lamp bounced off a wall on my other side adds a fill light. One thing to note: if you do use incandescent/halogen as mentioned, they will get quite hot and wax paper may not be the best diffuser depending on how close to the bulb you attach it. Parchment paper for cooking works just as well and it's meant to withstand oven temps so as long as it's not sitting directly on a hot halogen for extended periods it may be preferable to wax paper. Also, if you're more concerned with conferencing than streaming, a headset (even the old wired cell phone one you had from before OEMs lost their collective mind) will make a huge difference in avoiding background noise and preventing echo in conferences. People who use laptop mic/speakers are the bane of my existence and even for recording or streaming a headset mic has a better pickup pattern than the one on your phone, webcam, or laptop.
thanks for the tips! i hope i can stream but my wifi can't work because PLDT for some reason turns it off but when i get a new better wifi i would probably do these! Great video keep it up
Are you able to do something similar to this video or perhaps a "reaction" where you go over the points in more depth? I have been doing video work on my other channels for a while and while some of the content here will work, it can easily look and sounds like a hot mess if it's just thrown together. There was no real "guide" here.
@@imgreen4233 Not sure what you mean. There's OBS Studio, StreamLabs OBS, OBS.live (which is just a plugin for Studio) and then the ancient and dead OBS Classic
If you put a white shower cap over your clamp light, it works as a pretty good diffuser. Make sure you're using an LED bulb though because a standard bulb will melt through the plastic.
LED light is awful. LEDs are only bright at the source. They don't actually cast much light at all. The worst option to use for any lightsource. I have near perfect color vision, in some cases I also have hyper sensitivity to overly vibrant colors, namley the raw RGB. LED lights piss me the hell off. If you have a lighting rig with all the same color gels. I can tell you when one is even slightly burned out and off color. Slightly as is I have yet to find lighting director agree with me. If your lighting gels are bad. you won't hear the end of it from me.
@@thuban6371 I'd have to disagree... All my studio lights are led and they are pretty solid. Granted they may night out off as much light as a Halogen, but they don't run hot, so they're a hell of a lot safer and you won't be sweating bullets using them lol
@@00O3O1B There are many high CRI LED bulbs on the market that have 90+ CRI, but other than that, everything you said is true. It's mostly YMMV when it comes to LED bulbs so I'm pretty sure Linus said to just get halogen bulb is because u can buy them really cheap and not bother with stuff like CRI, flickering, light output etc. For streamer that just started these things are not so important (i usually don't care if streamer uses bad equipment as long as it has good content), but it should be priority down the road.

Davinci Resolve
THANKS THIS WAS JUST WHAT I NEEDED I WAS GOING TO START STREAMING SOON
Tks for sharing this information with us
hoho unlisted uh let's see here: I love the LTT team you people do some great work!
❤️
Linus : here is how you can stream for this cheap
Me : *Don't do that, don't give me hope*
oh my god thank you!! my laptop doesn’t support sound and the only way for audio to come out is by using bluetooth products and the audio coming from my airpods suck ass, i didnt even know that you can use audio from your mobile device to stream! thanks man, this is the only tutorial i’ve found that actually helped me!
"hey, hey, c'mere"
**camera switches to wide**
Even this is too expensive for me lol this looks like a great setup
Linus this is one of your best Videos that were extremely useful. This was very usefull thanks!!

This is cool and all but you missed out on what we REALLY want here:
How to be a virtual anime girl streamer?
Facerig?
get facerig and preferably the live2d addon
What about the voice?
@Poopee pretty sad.
Mocap suit
thank you linus. I can finally show this to my wife and her boyfriend so they can start working during this hard time. We could use the extra income.
"Your wife and her boyfriend"
Bro-
Uhhhhhhhh
Wut
Don't worry everyone, by wife he meant sister and her boyfriend is just his dad...
@Steven Johnson oh.
thanks for the tips! i hope i can stream but my wifi can't work because PLDT for some reason turns it off but when i get a new better wifi i would probably do these! Great video keep it up
I've been using clamp lights for a bit. They work wonders. I use a pair of daylight LED bulbs, to cut down on electricity cost.
I was expecting Linus to tell us how important it was to get a red 8k camera as a webcam and a $1200 tripod for it but I ended really gladly surprised
3:53 "It's got a problem" This is the first time PRICE was problem for Linus.
Thank You 😊 so much, this video is so helpful
Love this channel man so helpfull
Ohhai there
Are you able to do something similar to this video or perhaps a "reaction" where you go over the points in more depth? I have been doing video work on my other channels for a while and while some of the content here will work, it can easily look and sounds like a hot mess if it's just thrown together. There was no real "guide" here.
Hey proffeser of streaming, is there 2 types of OBS?
@@imgreen4233 Not sure what you mean.
There's OBS Studio, StreamLabs OBS, OBS.live (which is just a plugin for Studio) and then the ancient and dead OBS Classic
7:07 "You got your whatever this is" Wait wut. Are Jakes necessary for streaming setup??
If you put a white shower cap over your clamp light, it works as a pretty good diffuser. Make sure you're using an LED bulb though because a standard bulb will melt through the plastic.
Extra thought out! Leading the way mate
4:07 Why not use an *LED* instead of a *Halogen?*
They're crazy bright, very affordable, and color accurate. (If you get a philips bulb)
@@IRMacGuyver I didn't know it was possible to be this stupid.
@@IRMacGuyver dude.. how the hell do you think an LED flashlight works? Phone flash? LED headlights? LED's can absolutely 100% produce white light. I hope you're trolling
Is there already a joke about:
dad: son, who do you want to be?
son: streamer!
dad: Adios
what
Good review for getting started and great beard!
Linus, you're a baller. That IP Webcam app is SO helpful and surprisingly easy to set up, I just finished and it only took around 5 minutes. Thanks for these ideas.
