- Aunty Finchy has reached the Volcano Manor and accepts Tanith's offer. Time to be naughty...
For more details on how you can support RKG and get more of what we make, head over to: / rkg
"Big game, innit?" has got to be my favorite bit from any RKG series haha
You need to get Rory some glasses that are chained to the desk like an old bank pen.
“It’s like a human car wash!!”
“…..A shower.” 🤣🤣🤣
I got a good chuckle out of this bit too lol
You missed poor Rya again 😅. She's in the room next to the fake wall, you walked past it a couple of times. You should also talk to Patches again, you do get a reward for completing his letter.
Prob for the best. Rory would prob bully her for not standing up straight 😂. Then later on in her story call her a little freak.
Their gamma seemed to be set too low to notice. I was almost yelling at my TV every time they passed the room. 😂
I was dying watching them go past Rya's door so many times.
Same. Really hope they haven't missed best girl's questline.
And there are like 2 slug messages in front the door.
Bit disappointed that none of them but especially the lore master didn't realise the letter is TO Patches not from him. They even read it out lol
Love the Volcano Manor, such an interesting place and faction - really glad to see Gav and Rory's diverting opinions on them and their goals. I also didn't realise how legit that snake shield is, it's pretty much one-shot poison on everyone, really good starting gambit for any fight tbh - I feel like in my original playthrough it inflected basic poison instead of deadly, so was basically useless, but I think they've patched it to give it the upgrade.
I think the Patches stuff here is so funny, cos it's just so blatant that he's being a lazy git, but if you rest and talk to him again he does give you the reward he gets from Tanith. He doesn't much care about the reward, he just wants to impress Tanith 🥰
Really hoping in a future episode you figure out what room Rya is in, there's another door in the hallway Rory hasn't opened - that moment was so fun in my playthrough..!
I'm sure Dan will take them down her quest as her quest has a few moral quandaries in it
Having a lie in, feeling sick after the first full week back teaching after the Summer holiday. The perfect remedy! Thanks boys.
P.S. I spotted a Finchy t shirt on a recent Shut Up and Sit Down video!
Feel better, slug
Lads I hate backseating with a passion but you've lost about 15 levels worth of runes over the past few weeks so please god farm some runes back up & level because y'all will be fucked in later parts
I think it’s intended. They don’t want to “over level”.
Patches _does_ give a reward for killing Tragoth. You gotta exhaust his dialogue.
Not obtainable once you reach the quest state that makes everyone leave Volcano Manor, though.
I'm glad they're doing some assassinations, some very fancy armour sets and weapons to be had. And another whip, eventually! oh christ😆
YES to the sports jerseys/merch for each area. I'd absolutely get one for Mt. Gelmir/Volcano Manor, and possibly for a few other areas.
If Rory learned how to fight up close instead of only ranged he wouldn’t be having such a hard time 😂
We need a "I'm going to wear my glasses today" counter
Happy weekend slugs, let’s kick this one off!!
I will say it is nice to see the lads get into the lore of the volcano story and the characters they’re intertwined
Hello Guys and Slugs, Loving the series, cant wait to see what coming next.
The upgraded dragon head spells are not worth it. They do a little extra damage, but cost more FP, take longer to cast, put you in a more vulnerable position, can't be cast on the horse, and do a more AoE spread instead of going mostly forward. I would stick to the first level of the ones you have.
Ekzykes's Decay takes the same time to cast and has a longer and narrower range. But it *can* take up almost double XP and doesn't trigger the rot any faster. I'm more concerned with them goddamn getting it or not! Just make a decision!
The constant loss of huge chunks of souls is really gonna start to impact the play through from Leyndel onwards
im surprised no one has mentioned it in the comments, he lost 60k again for no reason during the invasion. he could have picked them up they were uncontested.
@@ozairali4658until this point, he's lost more than 60k I'm afraid
@@ozairali4658 can you imagine the struggle when he's at either of the notorious bosses whose names start with 'Mal'? Lawrence is going to seem like a tutorial boss
@supremebuffalo6322 he will struggle against the trash mobs lol. Im pretty sure they'll start levelling up at some point
@@supremebuffalo6322pretty sure they’ll mimic 10+bleed+scarlet her. they just want to get through the game for the lore
the moment of pure rage I felt when rory even entertained the thought of killing rya
“I don’t know how to not die”
Could be a great headline for this series.
I believe the Bull Goat armor has the highest poise in the game, if you have the Endurance to wear it. Just one of the best sets in general
Another 60k souls gone 💔 I know it's not necessarily the point of this playthrough but it just hurts to see them lost
That big reveal of volcano manor just for Rory to go "I THOUGHT WE WERE ALREADY IN IT" 😅
During this playthrough I got engaged and yesterday (20th) I got married! And still thst party didn't hold up to this amazing intro
Congratulations, Slug!
Big bosses are easier if you stay close. I know wormface wasn’t a boss but same principle. They got the range so illuminate the advantage. Also, Rory needs to hit things more. Too much standing around being careful and then not attacking. Which I know is an ironic thing to say. But sometimes the best defense is offense.
@@TeamEthicsDK the amount of time he spends backing away to try and get off a spell / L2 rather than just hitting the enemy with his weapon is maddening. They couldn't get him to use Weapon Arts / Spells in previous games and now they can't get him to stop. Hopefully he becomes a Ghiza Geezer and starts swinging again.
😂 Power's use of spells is mad. He can't use attacks and spells, he has to use only attacks, or only spells, never a mix of the two.
Maybe there could be a one off episode like titled give Powers powers where he trains, upgrades weapons and ashes as much as possible, focusing on the number of combat tips that would help like the staying close and rolling into certain moves, jumping certain moves, what enemies can be interrupted by pot throwing, etc.....
"it's very hard to know what the triggers are here"
well, in this particular example opening the door you walked by ten times already
Amazing as always, boys!
I’ve been looking forward to you guys reaching volcano manor since you started the series.
I hope we get to find out what happened to Rya!
🤣
🎉🎉 it begins
The Limgrave Hawks, The Liurnia Slugs, The Caelid Lions and The Altus Worms. Who are you rooting for??
1:05:26
"Little hands coming up"
"Is it snakes?"
Snakes obviously being famous for their hands
"I don't live by "The Rules" you know, and if there's one person who has influenced me in that way of thinking, someone who is a maverick, someone who does 'that' to the system then it's Praetor Rykard." - Brent mused.
"I don't know how to not die!" - Rory, 4:48-ish
Great slogan material.
15:00 this is how you know Elden Ring and Bloodborne are in the same universe. The same bit of gravity magic that's holding the debris in the air here, is also doing it to a little statue in Old Yarnham
Theory that Sekiro and BB are in the same universe too. The tainting of blood in that world is a bit the same. In DS3 Aldrich also dreams of the "coming full moon" and what that entails. Seems to be at least some connection.
@@CrazeeAdam I think he was being facetious, fam. I don't think Gravity magic is an in-universe explanation as to why a glitch made a statue float in the air in Bloodborne....
Danial favourite premier league goal?
I had the same reaction after getting the letter for Juno Hoslow, it is a big game.
22:35 Ahhh yes, good times. This is how I finally defeated the lord of blood, by being the most powerful mage in all the land!
Edit: I was so hoping that Krupes sent go straight upstairs at the manor, so Rory could get that weapon. I really hope Rory ends up using the old whirlydirly again. It really is a great weapon too. I’ve been looking forward to you guys getting to volcano manor for a minute 👍
Really really good ep this one
It's gonna be summer by the time they get to the hoslow contract I reckon. I just don't know if from next year or the one after 😂
LETSS GOOO!! TOGETHA!!!!
34 minutes in and I'm still waiting for some weapon leveling to occur😅.
Put me down for an Altus Lightning hat!
FESTIVAL ROCKS
I want them to show Rory power stance and blow his tiny dagger mind
I love how many different factions there are in Elden Ring, all with their differing opinions on what is best for the future.
And then there's Dung Eater.
💩
Oh my God It's Auntie 47!
Dang Rory is so sad doing these quests
It pains me to see Rory's use of spells sometimes, like he has AoE frenzied flame thing but he keeps using the snipe when the enemy is like right next to him. Sort him out Krupa, please!
13:30 "the range is too tight" aka I can't stand miles away and hit him before he hits me 😂. Or she.
I messed up my volcano manor questline I killed Istan, Riley, Tragoth and then Juno, but not the raging wolf geezer, and I found the Boss by walking there, so it ended the quest like and I never got his armour, which looks sick. I dunno how I skipped him but not Juno considering he's miles away 🤷♂️.
@19:12 Krupa unintentionally yet beautifully explaining the problem many of us have with the overuse of summons this season
Careful, last time I brought up a criticism I got attacked for it. How dare you think they should actually take 2min to try to learn attack cycles and not mash roll then summon and snipe. You must not be a true fan.
Can I see you two outside for a second? 😂. I'm joking, obviously.
@@jomega_gaming To the bench!
I think for major bosses they shouldn't use them imo. But for like field bosses and minor dungeons... Eh? There's so many i don't mind
@@CrazeeAdam I agree, I hope they implement the rule from part 1 when it comes to the main story bosses. I dont care about spirit summons for the smaller bosses, but I really enjoy seeing Rory learn the more complex unique bosses
I may be in the minority but I enjoy watching Rory play with a mix of weapons in these recent episodes. Switching between incarnations, the dagger L2 (it’s very powerful and versatile not sure why everyone in chat hates the dagger so much), the poison shield viper bite, and the mace attacks and L2s adds a lot of variety. For Rory it feels like an evolution, he is experimenting more.
I would love to see Rory play with the Godskin Peeler with Black Flame Tornado, because I know he would love it and it is INSANELY strong all the way through the game. And Eleonora’s Poleblade for its insane bleed focused L2, Bloodblade Dance.
Godskin Peeler might be my favorite weapon in ER.
Pretty sure it has a unique moveset, too. the slams and thrusts aren't on the other twinblades (although one of those moves is on a DLC twinblade)
"Honed Bolt" _is_ a fast casting incantation. Rory just isn't using it to its full potential; if you keep re-pressing the button after the initial casting, you can rapid cast it so many times.
Rory? Not using a spell correctly? I don't believe you. 😂
@@jomega_gaming To be fair, it's not that great. Fun n' all, but not that great. That rock thing they got, though....
For the love of the Elden Ring can someone please tell Rory he can pick stuff up when he is on Torrent! He doesn’t have to dismount.
Surely you would know by now that you cannot teach Rory anything new. The boy’s at max capacity 😂
lol he dismounts randomly when traversing, not just when he needs to pick something up. There is no teaching this man!
In today's episode of Retry, Rory flat-out refuses to press either R1 or R2 for an entire 90 minutes!
Togethaaaaaaa
Shhh.. Not quite yet brothaa! They will learn.
The restraint Daniel displayed not staring at the camera at various points this episode, honestly. Man deserves a medal.
1:08:34 I'm just bookmarking this time to say I'll absolutely buy this type of merch if you guys decide to do it!
Another amazing episode. Excited knowing what's likely to come in the next one!
Seconded!
Surprised Dan didn't bring up that Istavan was a summon. You can summon him in the cave you met Boc in and fought the other Demi Humans if i'm not mistaken. Just would make the guys feel worse
I thought this same thing, only noticed watching this and never on my play through. Lol.
And somehow all Runes are lost yet again... 😂
This might sound mean but that is not the way it is meant, it's thanks to players like Rory that Elden Ring got a rep for being really hard 🤣. It's still challenging if you apply the mechanics the game has taught you, but with the exception of a few bosses that really push the limit it is not "hard". Elden Ring is actually the easiest Souls-like out of FromSoft, if one remembers to use the tools at ones disposal.
Level Vigor, some Endurance and your main dmg stat and keep your fav weapons upgraded. Use properly upgraded Spirit Ashes if the going gets tough... and make sure the weapon you are using actually goes with the build you are using. Can always Larval Tear a new build if the one yer using is not working for ya.
Actually equipping a full armor set can also help, especially if ones Encumberance allows for it. 51 Poise is minimum unless yer going for Light rolls.
Rory should be around lvl 90 at this point, with the amount of content that has been completed. And for the area a +6 Somber or +15 normal weapon is appropriate. Nevermind that Rory should have access to +9 Somber weapons with the upgrade materials he has picked up.
Also, Frenzied Burst is a sniper spell... not one one charges up when someone or something is trying to take ones head off. 🤣
You can actually see that they remain underpowered and mess up boss fights to pad the series. This is just a podcast with some Elden ring lore thrown in and their audience is mostly fine with it.
@@DroneCorpse you reckon its on purpose? I disagree with that part. but I agree with the podcast part, and also agree that I'm fine with it
38:17 yeah I died a little on the inside when you guys were taking in the majestic plateu+Erdtree view and missed Rya😅
Thanks for the episode
Dan making a rare mistake and missing Rya's door just highlights how impressive it is that he has managed to direct Rory this far into the game without the save file being deleted or some other catastrophe befalling Aunty Finchy!
Happy Saturday Slugs!!
Radahniel 😭 why do I find this so hilarious help
It’s funny bc the joke only works because they mispronounce his name, lol
A general rule of thumb that will help a lot. If you ever want to use a new spirit ash and weapon, you might as well upgrade it to the point at which you can buy them from the bell bearer. Worst case a waste a few souls but Atleast the weapon/spirit is strong enough to see if you like it.
And they're gonna throw them away anyway, so they might as well...
Is anybody keeping track of how many episodes they've said they should go get the other rot breath?
I don't know why they keep insisting it's the better spell, though. It's not.
2? 3? Perhaps a number so large we've lost count.
@@Doomchild2XL It has a higher immediate damage, and slightly longer range. But the buildup is the same, which is really what you're going for. But yeah, it's not that much of a difference.
@@jomega_gaming I'm pretty sure it's more than that! XD
This is probably my favourite bit of Lore In Elden Ring. I find Rykard and Co.'s motivations so absolutely fascinating
Guys I love you and been a very long time fan. I dont through criticism lightly or often. But please, Daniel, let Rory know its OK to level up and its OK to upgrade your weapon and its OK to upgrade your catalyst. Rune gathering, upgrading, and getting stronger is all part of the natural flow of the game. Purposely staying under leveled for the sake of making everything harder isnt going well and Rory hasnt been able to learn combat the way he should as he's constantly punished with no great option for counter punishment. We love you guys, but I dont think the community is hankering for you boys to be under leveled for our enjoyment. You have access to SO many upgrade shards throughout the game, put them to use!
This.
Lady Tanith, a homage to Tanith Lee, author of veeery dark fantasy in 70s 80s. Lots of her influence in Elden Ring. recommend books Nights Master and Deaths Master. (adults only)
I think the whole “The Fall of Man” deal kinda did snakes in as far as PR goes. Hard one to bounce back from
Snake PR just hasn't been the same since Genesis! Their public image is wrecked
Ok I'll be the bad guy here - Rory's gameplay sucks in ER 😂. Run away, spam magic, try and abuse the boss tethering, summon a spirit ash. Completely forgotten how to just get stuck in and learn the bosses move set. The backseat gaming has gotten to the point that we've lost Rory's more action focused style of playing - sekiro showed how skilled he can be but he's less tactical and more about just getting a feel for melee combat. Still love the show guys, banter and production levels are top notch, and I think the path Dan is taking them on is fantastic. But Rory is over half way through and having to cheese basic encounters because the helicopter parenting has meant he hasn't learned even the basic combat mechanics for himself? ...(Pls don't hate me)
I agree I love so much of the series the banter and discovering all the lore I missed on my play through. But Rory is so under levelled stats and weapon he hits them takes off no damage so has to resort to running away summoning and sniping with spells. Missing some of what was great in the old series- a normal gamer trying a difficult game through trial and error learning the game. Krupa replied to a previous similar post that they can't please everyone which I completely understand, and even said some people were claiming they were overpowered! I think what they probably were seeing is that summoning and sniping with spells is an overpowered mechanic in the game, but again he is having to do that because they have not levelled up their weapon.
You're not wrong.
Agree, he should just max out the weapon he is using most, reallocate all those stats that are stuck in arcane and level up whenever he can and start actually fighting. Everything else is perfect but I just feel gutted when they end up cheesing a boss. I miss Lawrence, Twin Princes, Gwyn and Soul of Cinder type episodes. Overcoming the brick wall and the genuine screaming cheers of joy was one of the most enjoyable bits of PTT.
I feel this is very constructive criticism. as in you have valid points, youre not just having a pop.
@@HF-vw4yj I think it's partly an issue with ER as a whole, and it's...questionable approach to balance. I think the guys are probably pushing a cheap fighting style on Rory because they know just how big the game is and just want to get through encounters. Quote of advice -'Just run away, let Kris take aggro and snipe him 5 times'. What? That's horrible advice. They don't want to use summons on major bosses but he is gunna get absolutely wrecked by end game if he's bypassed learning the mechanics in early game. And it's gotten to the point Dan will complain anytime Rory even switches a spell. Post fight chats about strategy at the bonfire are better to go over stuff like that - mid fight it's too much and just tying him up in knots. It's almost like S1 again when they are just being a bit mean to Rory. It's a notoriously hard game and you are being watched and critiqued the entire time.
Volcano Manor is one of my favorite locations/questlines so I'm super hyped about You guys exploring it. Thx for everything!
Wheyy first Saturday as a patreon early lads early lads whey. Lol love this let's play.
He got caught 5 times by the ulcerated tree's grab attack. 5 times. It's so easy to dodge.... Then he keeps using attacks that take so long to charge against an enemy that is constantly moving.... There is just no perception or memory of anything.
Again, still love and enjoy watching every week but it's wild to see certain things..
It's almost like he's playing the game for fun and having banter with his mates while doing so. It's not the olympics. There are plenty of other channels where you you watch people no hit run the game. That's not why any of us are here, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
New patreon subscriber here.
For the love of all things, just use your katana. Please
It's not Saturday until there's a RETRY!
It's actually INSANE how big the map is! Just when you think it can't expand any more it does. I LOVE Krupa's comment "I remember we were young men when we started this" 🤣🤣
You should get a really ugly pair of glasses in Rory's prescription so that when he forgets his own glasses he has to do the episode looking like Elton John
Blasphemy is pretty cool
Bosses done this episode = 1
Total bosses done so far = 85
Percentage of total bosses done so far = 51.51%
9:58 i with rory wormface definitely grabbed him but that aoe for that attack was massive
Fun fact: The cerulean cracked tear last only Ten seconds. A 30 sec Comet Azure would decimate any boss. And the dlc bosses lol. Would be nice though..*sigh*
"its kind of like bug bites" Hey! don't underestimate bug bite... some of them really frickin hurt.
LANDS BETWEEN FOOTBALL KITS ILL BUY THEM ALL RKG AS THE SPONSOR LETS GO LADS
So excited for this one
You gotta get Powers back to a weapon with some range….. at this point he’s barely ever actually striking with his blade. His combat has changed so much and is all disheveled. He’s got this half build not committing to any particular stat strategy and weapon.
It really is the worst hes played since dark souls 1 😂
Upgrade the spirit ashes! Please!
54478 Keaton Trace
😊I think next episode you guys gotta do a bit of a reset with equipment and talismans and weapons… get rid of that dagger!
Rory just has to remember that he can, you know, hit stuff with it. It's bizarre how he forgets that he can attack sometimes.
The portrait in the dining room isn't Lady Tanith, but someone from the Marais household. Makes sense if Rykard was judge and the Marais family were executioners in Altus Plateau.
Also if Rory wants to build his poise to avoid attack interruptions, I'm pretty sure 51-61 poise is the general number agreed on for pve. If he casts in his off hand and uses the skill perseverance, he can increase his poise that way as well. Poise in ER is somewhat akin to DS3, not DS1. You will only be able to take one or two hits before interruption staggering. Works better if he two hands his melee for hyper armor points.
I'm sure Krupa was kicking himself for not checking the second door on the right for Rya but don't worry man, you've done a great job routing this playthrough and not everything is gonna be perfect the first time in this 100 hour game.
We’ll need a map boundary guide for the DLC just because Fromsoft set the trigger to advance the npc quests through exploring certain locations
I would go all-in for some factional sports merch. Great shout Krupa.
I’ve played this game through twice now and didn’t know about the area in Volcano Manor. Wtf. I always thought it was odd that there wasn’t anything there other than those few rooms & the boss.
I bloody love that the magma castle areas in Dark Souls 2 and Elden Ring got similar remarks from the lads. Good stuff
+1 for if you guys make sports gear for the Elden Ring factions, I will 100% buy
By the grace of gold, I will buy that sports gear merch.
The day Rory wears greaves will be the day I die happy
