hi, awesome engine performance, may please help with 2 answers, 1) is this engines can be configured for CW and CCW operation ? 2) is this engine is recommended to mount in such a way the shaft faces upwards ? please help with your reply/
Hi Maxime, I have had this engine for a while now and its done about 20 hours. It always starts easily, never had an engine out...it is very reliable. DLE have been building engines for a long time in model aircraft, so they are a very reputable brand
The dle 170 should be enough to get airborne..i was taught to fly on an 80cc top 80 engine with an UP makalu wing. 1.Is your dle 170 direct drive or a reduction drive? 2. You say a 32 inch prop? That doesnt tell me anything about the prop. What brand of prop is it and what are its manufacturers specifications? 3. What max rpm are you getting? 4. Have you done a static thrust check? 5. What wing and size wing are you using? 82cm is not a large enough diameter...prop should be 1.2 metre
Hi Scott, I am going to weight the frame and motor later today and will post the results. Also will try to ascertain some thrust figures too...i will need to sort out an rpm indicator first. It is a bit noisy, although a lot of noise reflection from brickwork behind me magnifies this a lot.
That is on the bucket list. I have heard a dle170cc direct drive in a paramotor...they are noisy with these type of mufflers. Im going to see if I can find a quieter muffler solution...another bucket list item.
I bought a friend dle 200 here in Brazil, asked for information on the propeller measures and did not have answers, you know tell me what type of propeller can use to have a good engine performance?
I purchased mine locally...its just a cheap and nasty cost me $1500. The prop came from a model aircraft importer. Best to go for a carbon fibre prop...you can use just about any frame and cage.
I dont fly it as often as i would like to...its power to weight ratio is excellent and that is its main advantage for me. As i have said to others about this engine, it is not as powerful as a single cylinder 200cc engine (like my nirvana rodeo paramotor...which has a simonini mini 2 plus engine), but it is really light.I wish i had a better exhaust system for the DLE, its current exhaust is crap to be honest! What is needed is for someone to design a 2 into 1 exhaust system for it. Then this engine would be awesome. Finally, it is not quite as economical as a single cylinder engine...but its not too bad. I wonder if the longer stroke in a single cylinder engine is more economical because of greater torque when compared with the DLE? For foot launching this engine is a really good choice. Mine doesnt have many hours on it (probably only about 20) but its been reliable so far and i know of another guy who has got over 100 hours and have been very happy.
Adam Edgar check out the mufflers on my DLE170 in my channel its not loud at all. If I get the 200 I will definitely do a 2 in one exhaust like you said. Its probably lagging power with those factory muffler thus having a tuned exhaust
dont buy this prop...not enough thrust. If i use a very low end wing its ok, but as soon as i went up to an EnC wing (ozone Sirrocco), it barely has enough thrust to launch. Look for a slightly larger carbon fibre one.
Hi Thomas. i dont use facebook for this hobby. You may forward me details of your facebook page and i can take a look at your engine or post a youtube link to it running. How did you manage the Redrive? (DLE engines require a crankcase change for re-drives)
@@adamedgar5765 What kind of modifications would be necessary to do in che crankcase? I thought it would be enough with the start engine/redrive adaptor
@@jgilp the paramotor version of the engine comes with the correct crankcase already. IF you purchse the non paramotor version, you are essentially buying a direct drive model aircraft engine (which is where this motor came from originally as far as i can remember). They adapted it for paramotor use Its biggest flaw at present is the exhaust...terrible for ppg. IT needs a new single system that is much quieter.

Hi TJ, im waiting for an order of netting to come through with the new apco harness im going to use...i didnt get enough netting to do complete cage in the way i wanted so its a bit of a fudge at present. I should have this all done next week if the freight company dont stuff me around with delivery over xmas
thrust depends largely on the prop. This prop is not sparkling in performance, however, helix carbon fibre props are much better on this engine. I havent a clue what thrust it puts out, not as much as my Nirvana Rodeo 200cc.
I'm working on a similar airbox as the eos 100th match for the dle 170. The box is made from carbon aramid weighs 150 grams

Hows this engine working out ?
Is this engine reliable? I'm interested for my MB02 "Souricette"...

Bro I want to buy Dle 200 cc engine. Please give me correct information about this engine. And how efficient is this engine?
Hi I have a 170cc dle and nearly got off the ground. I weigh 70kg i used a 32 inch prop, do you think i need to up grade to a 200cc. regards Dean
You need a bigger prop or reduction drive
Can i use 40×12 propeller in dle170 paramotors???
Or 3 blade propeller in dle170 paramotors
Looks nice and light. very noisy though without an airbox.

that one of yours is certainly a lot quieter with decent mufflers. Putting them on a paramotor is going to be interesting.
Hi I need an electric start for my dle 170cc also prop left hand push. any advice please. dean
Hello Adam can you please tell me where you got that engine.thank you
jpkrucker,
i got it into australia via hong kong. dle are a model aircraft engine manufacturer.
thank you for getting back to me Adam.Would you have any info on the hong kong manufacturer I need 6 of these engines for a manned drone.
contact www.skymec.com. Scott was a dealer for these engines in the paramotor version

hello,
I also have a dle 170 with transmission 3: 1 for Paramotor.
Do you have a Facebook account?
Greetings from Austria
