I ordered a new head unit and I have been researching how to do it. I wasn't sure how the thing would fit until I realized the air needs to be repositioned! Now I see how it all goes together in the end and I am not afraid to try this. I still haven't received my new unit, maybe this week, but, just watching you pop the air out, I feel confident now. Mine is a 2011 323i which is different from the other models I saw instructions for. You have given me the confidence to do this. I never did BMW before but a couple Hondas. I will be sure to report back when I am complete! (hopefully)
I must say, I am enjoying all your video's, vlog's...etc. You install a lot of different cartypes en models. Finding the solutions to some problems, very good. A lot of learning from you guys. Both pratical and theory. I am an part-time car audio installer as well in the Netherlands, but I can say every car is an challenge, no matter what the install is. But looking to your video's I get good vibes to be more creative in installation. Keep up the good work guys!!
Incredible!!! Just a great tutorial. I’m gonna give it a go tomorrow. The only thing I didn’t know was that you could but a double din into the dash. But, I know now😏
Haven't got a BMW 328i, nor indeed any BMW, yet still found this interesting. Happy to leave this install for the pros! And nice to see your shoulder really sharp and in focus! Noticed you slipped an extra "W" in the code with your PAC Audio unboxing. ;)
This is a useful and informative install. We have the connects2 harness here instead of the PAC one. And yes, this is one of the better dash kits for this..
This tutorial has been immensely helpful!! Thanks guys!! I was also wondering what the purpose of the red/white 12+ Programmable Output is for. I connected the solid red in the PAC harness to the solid red on the pioneer harness, but I was unsure what the red/white was for. Should I just cap this off?
CarPhonix CarAudio you guys need to give your AAMP rep a call. The PAC stuff is way better and far fewer headaches. If you have any questions about their stuff give me a call.
I have the exact bmw, ordered everything from Crutchfiled. It comes with the exact PAC wiring harness, my only question: What is the micro bypass used for?
Just FYI, no really reason changing the fiber (logic7) amplifier, its good enough, but for some odd reason they did, you can recode the 2rad(non idrive radio) from L7 to HIFI then go that route, unless you're changing the whole radio then you pretty much have to tap into the output lines from the amp that way. If it has Idrive and wanted to get rid of L7 and go a whole custom route, just have someone or get NCS Expert to code out the L7 to HIFI then carry on.
Since some 5 years have passed since this install video was produced, would it be fair to assume that the install in an E90 would be made somewhat easier now by using one of the current double-din head units that have no CD drive and are therefor quite a bit shorter in the rear ?
That is good step-by-step video. I don’t have stock amp and planning to install aftermarket amp and woofer so was wondering what will be changed in the harness?
Really impressive,,,,so bafetho tell me please, where can i buy that bracket for my e64 convertible as i want to change the stereo it's ccc always have problems........South Africa

Please do me a favor and show how yo wire a head unit in a 1999 lexus gs300. They have the kit to mount it and a radio harness but none of them seem to put sound out through the harnesses that ive bought
VICSTOR101 Have you been to clublexus? I installed my Pioneer Avh-5700bt double din myself with help from that site. If you have the Pioneer audio system, you'll need 2 toyota wire harnesses and extra wires as you'll need to extend to the second harness to connect to the factory amp. I really suggest 4 or 5 channel amp for your speakers instead of using head unit to power the speakers. It makes installation is so much simpler, you'll need only one Toyota harness, you'll need 3 wires out of it to power and illuminate the headunit. If you have ML or Nak system, your only option is full headunit/amp/speakers/and sub upgrade... It sucks that we don't have a perfect wire connector for our system.

VICSTOR101 4 channel is worth it. I just can't believe I waste so much time owning my 300 without an amp for the 6.5 speakers. Oh I don't know if you already knew, but once you install your head unit, you will no longer have the factory 10 inch sub working since it only works with the factory sub. So your forced to install a sub.

Got a question which doesnt have much to do with the stereo install itself but it is related to e90 cars... nime doesnt come with cup holders. I found some online for a good price but I need to know how many chances I got to find the appropriate slots behind the dashboard plastic shield where they are usually mounted... I thought I'd ask, since you might have worked on BMW 3 e90 and might have seen what's behing that plastic cover... TNX
Hey dean, quick question on this pac module. On the interface 2 adapter, there is a red/white 12+ programmable output wire, my question is do I connect this wire to all my red accessory wires? Also for the “illumination output” wire on interface 2 plug and dimmer wire from vehicle connector, these both go together? I’m currently working on this interface module for my car. Thank you for the help!
Do you guys have a preferred mounting kit for similar installations on the BMW 135i (in my case, 2011 135i w/ automatic climate control and no factory amp)? Also, what did you do to this car to eliminate the BMW Assist SOS error that shows up after the OEM head unit is removed?
I am looking forward to doing this to my car. So what would happen to that DTC button if I were to do this upgrade? Thanks for your time
Hey I have a 2011 bmw 328i. It has factory Amp without the fiber optic cable. The thing it's that the radio there's no sound. You think it might be the Amp that it doesn't work no more.
And How do I do this WITH the Fiber optic amp??? - I've replaced the head unit already, and installed a decoder box - but that only has 2 channels RCA - so I have left and right. No fader. I'd like to bypass the amp, and install connecting to the factory speaker wiring - is there a plug & play adapter for this? (2008 335Xi, no nav) My head unit has 5 RCA outs. @@christiandelatour2140 DTC is not related to the radio - it is dynamic traction control. This is only do-able on a 2011 if it does not have i-drive and it does not have a fiber optic amp
Hey Dean , i enjoy ur videos alot and wish have more informative video to come. Alarm delay issue... I have a 2013 BMW 335i convertible E93 and replaced the stock Professional HU (6512 9302171-01) with a Kenwood DDX9906XR using Axxess wiring harness LC-BMRC-01 and Axxess steering wheel adapter ASWC-1. Everything works except when the car is locked for a while it goes into sleep mode and when I unlock the car the alarm takes several seconds to disarm. Once the car is out of sleep mode the alarm works perfectly without any delay. Yellow wire is run to battery Any idea why this is happening?
SOLVED: The Axxess Wiring harness came setup already wired. From the main connector that connects to the BMW harness a bundle of wires went to the chime speaker, another bundle went to the Axxess ASWC-1 (for steering wheel controls) and the final bundle were for the speakers. That Axxess wire harness had two yellow wires, one was pre-wired from main wire harness that connects to the BMW harness and the other end connected to the chime speaker. The second went from main wire harness that connects to the BMW wire harness and the other end was left open so it could be connected to the stereo. Problem is, both of those yellow wires go to sleep after about 45 minutes. The fix is to not use either. Cut the one that connects to the chime speaker and hard wire it to the battery. Also, hard wire the stereo to the battery. This solved my problem.
