I thoroughly enjoyed this film and found it refreshing on several levels. Not only does it have a leading man whose personality counts for more than his looks, it also avoided the 1930s 'cookie-cutter' cliche of shallow female characters who are jealous harpies or unable to think for themselves. What a sad indictment on today's film industry. Now most films are 'one size fits all' money grabbing tripe populated with the obligatory slew of 'equal, but more equal than you' characters who couldn't act their way out of a wet paper bag.
I saw the actress Harriet Walter in the Lord Peter Wimsey programmes, and the way she talks reminds me of how the actress who played Stella Crane does. I think it's a bit different than other British actresses.
A well constructed and highly entertaining comedy about adultery from the 30s. The virtually forgotten Tom Walls as a wolf, implausibly irrestible to women (he was well past his sell-by date) does a fascinating exercise in under-acting (the secret of good film acting); plus Winston Churchill's daughter!
Excellent repoirtee from a very funny caddish bounder. Except he isn't and is role model for modern men. Seen it a about two year's ago and I loved it immediately.
Wandering plot, choppy directing, wooden acting. I bailed early. Trying to believe an older, skinny, half-bald, not-very-attractive weird man was some Don Juan sweeping women off their feet was not possible.

Enjoyed this mantic comedy. Very different in having older mature characters involved in adultery antics.
Another Tom Walls treat! Thank you, Spondonman.
Tom Walls was a great antidote for the slick, glossy, artificial Leading Men of Hollywood.
Eugene Pallette played Friar Tuck in Robin Hood (Errol Flynn version).
The judge at the beginning was Arthur Wontner who was the current Sherlock Holmes.
...and a BAD one, too.
I don't like how the man came in & acted like he owned her place
Young George Sanders!
Extremely clever comedy of misunderstandings.
Absolutely great movie.
I must say, there is a lot of cigarette smoking throughout this film.
LOVE IT!!!!!!! GOOD TO SEE, A YOUNG GEORGE SAUNDERS!!!!! THANKS 5MILL.UPLOADER. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Basil Radford and Cecil Parker,The Lady Vanishes.
Walls must've been the model for the Guy Fawkes mask in "V for Vendetta".
